Kenco - what have you done to our favourite Kenco Rich coffee, not only the reduction in weight but the taste and texture have been ruined. we now get a dark brown scum around the top of the mug and a horrible powdery texture. Looks like we will need to look for another brand.

Ive gone between kenco smooth & douwe egberts pure gold for years. Ill definitely be packing in with the kenco.. Last few refil packs have been awful..weird taste & shocking residue in the bottom of the cup.. I asked chat gpt if there was a problem. It confirmed & told me about all the complaints due to a new recipe. I won't be buying this kenco again unless it reverts back. Looks like im not the only one.

I have been drinking Kenco Rich for well over 16years and have religiously filled my original glass Kenco jar with the refill pouch. I have just filled my jar again using the latest refill and to say I’m disappointed is a severe understatement. The taste was very bitter, sludge remained in the bottom of my cup and also came to the surface when drinking. I have contacted Kenco as I thought it may of been a manufacturing fault but to my dismay I was informed that it was their new recipe. I just can’t believe how this passed the tasting tests assuming that tests were carried out ! I will now go to my local stores and try and purchase some of the old packaged pouches, failing that I will have to change brands. I hope that Kenco read and act upon these comments, or is this change another cost saving exercise like confectionery companies making their chocolate bars smaller. Here’s hoping for a resolution to this issue.

Kenco, what a complete let down of your loyal coffee drinkers. Another casualty of shrinkflation, and a recipe change to boot. You can wrap as much jargon around your recent changes. You've sacrificed flavour and greed to align yourselves with market forces. I for one will never buy your sludge ridden drink ever again. Ask your customers what they want..

The new Kenco Smooth blend is awful. My family and I drink a lot of coffee and have loved this blend for decades. Since August 2026, we all noticed a dark brown/black sludge at the bottom of the coffee after it has settled, alongside a powdery residue, which doesn’t dissolve. We no longer enjoy the taste which has changed considerably and is now bitter and weak. I have a headache and feel very unwell now after drinking the new formulation. I have just found out that the new recipe contains ground beans which explains the above. I have allergic reactions to ground coffee, and deliberately chose Kenco Smooth as it was one of the few instant coffees I could tolerate. The new formulation has ruined this coffee and we will not be purchasing it anymore.

Millicano is now down there with the cheapest supermarket brands but with premium price, it tastes awful now hence I don’t buy it anymore and I suggest you don’t either.
Shame I thought it was really good once, not now.

My family have been drinking kenco coffee for over 30 years, I asked I would have rated you 10/10 .. not now ! Whatever you have done to it.. big mistake…The taste is discusting , it’s not enough that you raised the price to stupid to pay for your new design, you’ve also robbed us of 5/10% of weight, then done something to the recipe that makes it taste cheap, like “happy shopper “ at best!! Wonder if you’ve started to feel the loss of revenue yet? I for one will be looking for a change now , such a shame

Kenco what have you done? Why change something that was working?
We’ve been drinking Kenco rich for maybe 15 years, and thoroughly enjoyed it. But this new recipe is wrong in every way. It’s no longer rich…it’s so weak it’s almost flavourless, but what little taste is there is not nice at all. When first made, there’s an oily film on the top of the coffee, the granules don’t fully dissolve and there’s a nasty black scum left at the bottom. It just makes us doubt what’s going in our bodies? Needless to say, unless you change the recipe back we won’t be buying it anymore. What fools you are. Who on earth told you this was a product that people would enjoy? And buy? You need to think again.

We have always bought Kenco coffee it's always a lovely cup of coffee, not anymore, it's disgusting it's weak and it leaves brown sludge in the bottom of the cup, I am currently looking for a replacement as I cannot drink this rubbish!

We are half way through the new jar of Kenco Rich. It is absolutely awful, taste is bitter now and it leaves sediment at the bottom of the cup. It has been a staple in our house for decades. Time to start looking for a new old faithful.

Major reduction in the quality, I was an avid fan but there is a noticeable change. The new blend is nowhere near as nice. First noticed it is harder to dissolve and there is that sludge at the bottom. I will have to find an alternative, I couldn't drink that every day unfortunately.

I have bought & drank Kenco Smooth instant coffee for many years.
It was always the best.
My Wife and I have just bought a new Octagonal jar and it is clearly different and not for the better. It is more bitter, does not dissolve well & leaves sludge in the bottom of the cup.
We Red that Kenco have recently changed their recipe & reduced jar content.
We can live with slightly less for the same price but I am a firm believer in, if it works, do not try to fix it.
The Recipe change is a bad move.
We will not be buying it.
Kenco, please advertise. If the decision is reversed and original recipe Kenco Smooth & we will gladly start to buy it again.

My husband and I have used Kenco Smooth as our only instant coffee brand for years, I can’t even remember how long, probably the best part of 20 years. Having just bought a jar of the new blend, as most of the other reviews have said the new recipe is awful and leaves a muddy sludge at the bottom of the mug. I can’t even finish the jar we’ve bought. I managed to find a small jar of the old recipe which we’re using whilst taste testing potential replacements. Sorry Kenco but this is a big mistake. I understand everyone is looking for ways to save money on there products but this is not the way. I could live with the same price for 10% less in the jar but not this recipe change.

Despite the fancier style of glass jar, Kenco has lost its appeal by withdrawing our favourite instant coffees i.e. Brazil or Colombian. The Rich formula is near enough OK but the residue is not acceptable - the whole purpose of buying instant is not to have this. Please get it sorted as we once found Kenco superior to other varieties.

My son mentioned the residue which I had also noticed. Checked on line and low and behold the product has been changed. It tastes slightly more bitter and now more like the other brands I had ditched for Kenco smooth.
Very disappointing. I will use what I have, and then be trying other brands to see if I can find anything similar to the old taste.
I drink one, midmorning, cup of coffee per day and I want to enjoy it rather than force it down 🙁

The new blend of Kenco coffee is awful. It taste very bitter and leaves a weird dark syrup looking sediment in the bottom of the mug after drinking. Certainly not the coffee that I have been accustomed too. Please change it back to the previous blend as I will not be purchasing this product again until it is!!

Kenco have changed their recipe, and I now find it almost undrinkable, due to the heavy, powdery black/brown sludge, that now ruins it. I will not be buying it again. I complained directly to Jacobs, and this is their response: "Because the product contains finely ground coffee, you may notice a small amount of coffee residue or sediment left in the cup or mug after preparation. This is a natural result of the blend composition and is expected with this recipe". Small amount my $%&! Such a shame, as I've been using it for decades, but no longer, and looking at Kenco's other reviews, nor will a great many others :-(

Used to buy this all the time but, now recipe has changed, will be switching brands. Ken o coffee now tastes bland and leaves a disgusting sludge at the bottom of the cup. Also does not dissolve that well.

This is awful coffee. Please change it back. Like all these reviewers I am looking for old stock or seeking an alternative. How can you market an instant coffee that does not dissolve?
