Ordered 2 bags of 500 banded crickets size 4 (10-15mm). When we undid the bags, there was a proportional amount of the crickets that were massively under this size and unfortunately we will have to feed them for a period of time to get them to size rather then just being able to feed them off straight away.
Emailed company and received a response within 12 hrs and have requested a refund.
The quality of the crickets is great
The quality of the crickets is great. Itâs the only company I found that will do next day delivery of live foods. Very very happy with this company.

Ordered banana crickets from Livefoods Direct for the first time and Iâm genuinely impressed. Delivery was fast, packaging was solid, and not a single dead cricket in sight. The insects arrived active and healthy, ready to go straight into the setup. Overall, great experience and Iâll definitely be ordering again.
Always had really good service
Always had really good service, but their inability to presently supply, means postage is now one third of the cost, Instead of 500 gm mealworms a week, why not one kilo a month. Or find a cheaper delivery service !

Dead pet
Usually, I have no issues with buying fruit flies for my jumping spider but, on the most recent occasion, when receiving my delivery, the tub had two big splits in it and in the box was a dying false widow spider. I fed my jumping spider from the pot, after disposing of the dying spider and everything seemed OK. Until, that is, I hadn't seen my jumping spider for two weeks but, in it's enclosure, was a young false widow spider which had eaten my jumper. Will never buy from this company again.

Place order on the 07th Jan 2025 NOT DELIVERED
Place order on the 07th Jan 2025, 09th Jan asked for tracking as no email from Royal mail which I normally get. Emailed this morning sent to Livefoods asking for updates on my order as I have none? They sent me tracking from November 2024 and a picture which is not of any flats in this block as picture is of someone elses fron door not in this block.
Requesting refund as I haven't received order as of yet not response and they have no telephone number as business is totally on line. I will update post if I ever get a response.

Edit: At nearly 10am on Thursday I received an email from royal mail telling me that my parcel from livefoodsdirect will be out for delivery today. It seems they did send it, just didn't update the order or send me any kind of confirmation that they'd progressed the order. Not ideal communication, but they at least fulfilled the order!

I have ordered from this company regularly over the past several months as I have needed food for wildlife⊠although my very first order never arrived, a full refund was sent. I decided to give them another try and since then, every item has been delivered reliably. I would recommend
No quality control
Sadly quality control is completely lacking recently, forcing me to go elsewhere. I only tend to require larger quantities in spring and summer when rearing baby birds; at other times of year, it may be more reliable?
Last season (2022) saw constant issues with undersized crickets (honestly they looked like ants), and a large proportion DOA, which I put down to the heat. Luckily even after being frozen, it is usually possible to identify this by their appearance or smell, but accidentally feeding rotten crickets is still a huge worry.
I received a partial refund for the dead ones but no explanation on why they were so undersized or why the same item in a different format (tub vs sack) could be completely different. I'd really rather they cancel the order than send something so materially different. This is not Tesco where you can stipulate "no substitutes", this approach results in an unacceptable amount of waste, and puts the onus on the confused customer to try and work out what on earth to order to get what you actually need for your animals.
This season has seen some orders correct, and other orders for the same thing grossly oversized (this is for mealworms and crickets - there is always a size variance in waxworms, so no complaints there).
When I reported the oversized mealworms, I was advised to phone up and request quality control checks. I appreciate the candour, but I don't think that should be the customer's job, and feel I should have been offered a refund since I'd expressed they were not usable. The birds outside ate well that week!
When I reported the oversized tubs of crickets, I received an apology and an immediate refund, which I did request outright this time. It seems I was sent completely the wrong tubs that time.
I know I'm not the only customer/rehabber reporting these issues, but they simply do nothing to address them, even though they could. That is not ok. In the interim I have driven to the nearest pet store or ordered from another online supplier (with no issues thus far) at additional expense.
LiveFoodsDirect are significantly cheaper, but perhaps this is why?? Even if they weren't cheaper, they are the better choice for me environmentally. I'd like to keep using them. The mealworms last a long time (if refrigerated and fed, of course), and delivery is always next day. I just wish they had any semblance of quality control.

Did not receive what had been ordered
Did not receive what had been ordered. The locust we received were tiny and not the 15-22 mm size as ordered. This is the second time in a month that this happened. Very saddened as I have not previously had issues with the company , but I wont be going back as two lots of bulk buy now which are no good to us whatsoever so a complete waste of money
