Installed illegal door in conservation area, when challenged installer was dismissive and indifferent. When photos taken for enforcement action by local authority was sneering and rude. It is the property owners responsibility to obtain planning permission for a new door, not the installers- but a reputable company promoting itself as very high end and heritage grade should be able to respond in a polite and professional manner. This company behaved like a cowboy builder caught breaking the law. The installation is illegal and will have to be removed costing the owner thousands. Their arrogant sneering and rude behaviour led directly to immediate enforcement action instead of warning the owner they need to call planning. The behaviour of installer exacerbated the problem for owner and has hardly helped the homeowner negotiate a solution with planning now it’s in enforcement. An enforcement notice and stop notice is next, followed by Retrospective planning permission which is open to all objections- which there will now be several as other neighbours furious about it, then appeal when inevitably refused (the door is counter to strict planning rules in conservation area bears no relation to original 1896 door replaced and thus has no realistic hope of ever being accepted).

If you have a heritage high end building in a conservation area, or listed, with neighbours who want to maintain the heritage of area according to law, this is probably not the outfit for you.
