Craig says his business is closed, but then appears to be doing work for people on here. I have picked 2 stars as I would rate the work as between 4 stars and one. He built an extension on my house and I am mostly very happy with the work, but I many things needed to be done 2 or 3 times as they were done incorrectly the first time. One wall has been built incorrectly and damp comes through the wall. Craig has been stringing me along for 8 months saying that he will come and fix the problem, but I don't think he will actually do it. He is nice when you meet him, but he is very unreliable and I don't trust much of what he says given the number of times he has said he would do something and then not.

Craig was contracted to build an extension for us. From day 1 when his team left a damaged digger on site and we had to deal with the irate hire company, we had nothing but problems. Craig made us aware he was being Investigatdd by his bank for fraudulent behaviour then chased us constantly for payment well ahead he of the terms of the contract, always with the threat of stopping works if we didn’t pay. When we had paid in full for the works, Craig then instructed his sub contractors to leave site, leaving the property unfinished. We then had to spend a further £20k completing works we had already paid for. When negotiating through the courts, Craig made it clear he would fold the company rather than pay what was owed. Workmanship was poor as most works were incomplete. Brickwork unfinished, guttering incorrectly installed, broken roof tiles, plumbing incomplete. Craig had sub contracted the job and failed to manage it effectively. In doing so he wasted time and money and once we had made full payment he made up a story that we had been rude, which wasn’t the case. Don’t go near this builder, let alone give him any cash.

Craig was the consummate professional from the initial enquiry, he interpreted the brief from the start, the final delivery was an exceptional finish, and coming in on budget.
Absolute honesty and transparency were his core values, his integrity was key, the guidance and wisdom he shared, made the entire process an enjoyable journey.

Craig is absolutely dedicated to getting the job done well. Unlike many other builders he finishes in the time agreed & then comes back as often as necessary to finish the snagging list, even after he has been paid in full. Dedicated & determined to complete every aspect of your build how you want it. I would recommend Craig to anyone & certainly use him again!

Had Craig in to do a 1st floor extension over the top of an existing flat roof room. All timber frame with steels to account for a cantilever effect. The process of working with Craig was fast, and he was super communicative througout. He had his team here every day for a good 4-5 weeks, chippys, sparks, roofers, plumbers, painters. Every day a load of guys on site getting it done. I was super impressed with how it all worked out. Can't recommend enough.

We decided to move our front door; opening up an existing window for a grander entrance, putting in an oak framed porch and installing a new WC in the passage where the old front door had been. It was a bigger job than it sounds, with structural, groundwork, significant plumbing, electrical, plastering / rendering and carpentry all needed. We got plenty of quotes and spoke to many builders, but L&W Carpentry & Building stood out offering a very competitive price and equally importantly, gave us great confidence in knowing what they were doing.
We engaged their services and were given a breakdown of how the work would progress and staged payments would be made. What impressed us most as the work took place, was the quality of the work, where things didn’t always go as planned they fixed it, often not prompted by us but them identifying they were not quite happy with something and wanted to get it right. We live in an old building and there were plenty of surprises as the project went on, but as each of these came up Craig (the owner) talked us through options as to how we could resolve and never pressured us to do what was easiest for them. One thing we really liked was the WhatsApp group set up where we could communicate each day as things developed and discuss changes or options when we were not always able to meet face to face – we used this a lot to keep up to date.
All the various trades who were needed for the project (plumbers, electricians, roofers, plasterers) all did work to a very high standard (I’m an engineer and hence I’m always interested in how people do their work and have a critical eye). I simply cannot speak highly enough of them. Niggles? Hardly none, perhaps the estimate of how long things might take was a tiny bit optimistic, but its difficult to account for issues along the way.
The project is now finished, and it has exceeded our expectations (and we are very fussy!!) it looks simply amazing. Everyone that has seen it has asked for the contact details of the builders for their own projects as the finished results are show home like (and remember we have an old house, so getting the quality of finish is really tricky). Craig and his team really know their stuff, work hard, will keep you appraised of the project as it develops and work to a truly excellent standard. We would definitely recommend them if you want quality workmanship and a team you can trust.

Craig has done a great job with our loft conversion. I would highly recommend him and would definitely use him again in the future. He kept us in the loop with everything so we were aware of what was going on at different stages. He was very organised and affectionate. Craig is a really lovely and trustworthy man and The whole team that he had were very polite and hard working.

Hi, I had a kitchen extension done by these guys, it was finished 4 weeks before the estimated time frame. The End result is great. The kitchen/family room is the new heart of the home. Thanks again.

L&W done a Hip end to gable loft conversion with dormer for us! Great service, from a very detailed first meeting that was nearly 3hours long but from that they provided us a quotation that stayed the same through out the job witch we were worried about has we had a budget, the site was kept tidy, well organised and all the lads were very polite! Have already recommended them to our neighbours,

Hired L&W Carpentry to install a timber stud wall in the garage. Craig provided a reasonable estimate for the work, which was close to what I would have been willing to pay for it.

The work was completed to high standards with a professional flourish in a reasonable time frame. I would certainly recommend L&W carpentry as a reliable and trusted business

Craig did an excellent job. He is hard working and a Craftsman. He completed the job to a high standard and within the agreed timeframe. He went out of his way to ensure the job went smoothly. I highly recommend his work and will use again.
