The Hanzi Movie method works. I had to step away from the course for a month. when I was able to return Recall of characters , pronunciation, and meaning came back with my movies. As an older person I had little confidence but was up for the Challenge to learn Mandarin for a future trip. The resources available, the encouragement with the online community and just learning at your own pace no pressure has been the best for me

I was kind of sceptical in the beginning. Im now at lvl 13 and what can i say? It realy works for me.

Ich habe mir mit meiner Bewertung Zeit gelassen, weil ich anfänglich sehr skeptisch war. Die Skepsis beruhte auf der Preispolitik. Ich konnte nirgendwo Preise finden und habe deswegen das kostenlose 30-Tage-Probeabo abgeschlossen und erhielt erst danach ein Angebot, in dem mir erklärt wurde, dass der Kurs einen Wert von über 200.000 Tausend Dollar hätte, ich ihn aber innerhalb der 30 Tage für 1.500 Dollar kaufen könnte. Zum Ende kam ein Angebot für nur 1.000 Dollar, das ich dann nicht ausschlagen konnte. Einen Monat später gab es den Kurs für 800,00 Dollar. C'est la vie!
Ich lerne seit 300 Tagen mit dem Kurs und habe insgesamt 600 chinesische Zeichen mit Pinyin, Ausprache, Betonung und Bedeutung mit der „Movie-Methode“ gelernt. Und das hätte ich mit keiner anderen Methode auch nur annähernd in der selben Zeit (täglich eine Stunde) schaffen können. In mehreren Videos wird diese Methode erklärt und man erhält dazu komplett vorbereitete Vokabelkarten, die man nur aktivieren muss. Alle Vokabelkarten haben jeweils zwei Tonspuren von einer Frauen- und einer Männerstimme. Das ist super, um die korrekte Aussprache zu üben während man seine Vokabeln durchgeht. Man lernt das sogenannte Shadowing und eignet sich damit die „Melodie“ der Sprache an.
Nur das betrachtet wäre der Kurs wirklich sehr empfehlenswert. Allerdings habe ich mit diesen 600 Zeichen immer noch nicht HSK1 erreicht. Es fehlen häufige Zeichen wie 号, 爸, 商 und 漂亮. Die Vokabelkarten haben keine Revers-Funktion. Ich kann Vokabeln (einzelne Wörter) nur von Chinesisch auf Englisch abfragen, aber nicht umgekehrt. Es wird auch keine Grammatik vermittelt. Auf Lernkarten mit vollständigen Sätzen stehen ein paar Hinweise zu verwendeten Partikeln. Ich kann ganze Sätze von Englisch zu Chinesisch abfragen, das nennt sich dann Sentence-Production. Allerdings sind diese Sätze zu 80 Prozent nicht für mich verwertbar, weil sie aus Geschichten (Rotkäppchen, 3 kleine Schweinchen) und Meinungen (Haustiere, Babys) stammen, die mich schlichtweg nicht interessieren.
Ich kann diesen Kurs deshalb nur bedingt empfehlen. Die Movie-Methode macht Spaß, aber um wirklich aktives Vokabular aufbauen zu können müsste ich den Elite-Kurs mit monatlichen Gebühren buchen. Und die Werbeaussage war eigentlich, dass ich mit 1.000 Dollar alles habe, was es braucht, um Chinesisch wirklich sprechen zu können.

Mandarin Blueprint has honestly made learning Chinese way less intimidating. The whole “movie method” with scenes and tones tied to rooms is super fun—it feels more like a memory game than studying. I like that I don’t have to memorize every sentence word‑for‑word; I just need to get the meaning, and the flashcards keep everything fresh.
Mandarin Blueprint makes Chinese feel doable and even enjoyable. I’m actually excited to keep climbing that “mountain.”

My 2nd go at learning mandarin after an18 year break. I’m finding it way more effective than my previous evening classes at a reputable university!

The structure, content and ease of use of the Mandarin Blueprint method make for an overall addictive and rewarding experience.
I have tried several Mandarin learning courses and platforms over the past several years, but nothing can stand beside the Mandarin Blueprint.
The MB method does not promote rote learning of characters/ dialogues. In my experience, rote learning is inefficient, ineffective, exhausting and ultimately ends in disappointment.
The MB method focuses on both a granular, bottom-up approach (characters, tones, pronunciation, etc) mixed with more top-down modules (sentences, dialogues, speaking, listening) that very quickly engage the learner, and make fluency progress real and easily measurable.
The Mandarin Blueprint suite of tools and applications are polished, effective and have excellent UI. These, in tandem with the almost instant technical and learning
support team, guarantee a language learning experience unmatched elsewhere.
I would strongly encourage any student who is serious about next-level Mandarin learning to go straight to the Mandarin Blueprint Method.

J'ai commencé à suivre leur méthode il y a un an et je constate des progrès au quotidien dans mon chinois. Leur façon de procéder est excellemment bien pensée, complète et précise. On se sent parfaitement encadré. J'ai voyagé en Chine et me débrouiller en chinois après seulement 6 mois d'apprentissage. Je recommande vivement.

It's been great! However, I must confess that I find it hard to determine my sets/tones at times because I'm unable to visualise my sets clearly in the scenes.

However, I must also say that this is the best method I've ever encountered in my life! Better than Duolingo, vastly better than using textbooks, and much more effective than both of the aforementioned.

Very good techniques introduced, and very well-made videos so far from Levels 1 to 12.

This course is miraculous. I went from knowing zero characters to 150 in basically one month. It feels wild to be able to read sentences and recognise words in movies, by heart. The method was clearly well thought through, and it's actually fun.

I appreciate the time and care these guys have put into this course.

I am just finishing off Mandarin Lite and have been so impressed with the quality of the materials so far, and the level of support, that I took out a subscription for Mandarin Pro.

After several months learning using Duolingo and Hullo Chinese I was disappointed when I realised that my progress with the apps was not as good as I thought, despite being engaging and fun. Such is the nature of language apps, I guess.

I am now planning a trip to China, and at first my initial requirements were modest - just to learn to speak a few sentences over the next months, order a meal, ask directions to the toilet, and generally just get around as a tourist. From what I have heard, I could probably get by without learning Mandarin, but I love languages.

It can be very hard to stay motivated, especially with Mandarin. However, after subscribing to MB Pro I am now excited by the possibility that, with some extra work, I might achieve an acceptable level of fluency.

I am currently taking the MB Pro course and I am at level 27. So far, their course is very good and it is obvious a lot of thought has gone into it. The structure of the lessons flow very well and their methods for learning characters are EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE. I was skeptical when starting because learning Chinese characters always seemed like a very hard thing to do, but this course makes it the easiest part of learning Chinese. My one issue with the course is the sentence flashcards, the definitions provided are loose and translate it into what would normally be meant in most contexts, but it means I often miss a word out when trying to translate from english to chinese because it isn't included in the English translation. I think that the course could benefit by providing both a translation that includes every word used in the Chinese version and a loose one. I find it hard to absorb and learn the grammar when certain words are excluded from the English versions. But, overall it is worth the money.

Definitivamente es el mejor curso de Mandarín que he tenido hasta ahora, las explicaciones son magistrales y las dudas que tengo se resuelven a lo largo del curso, son grandiosos profesores y su material de primerisima calidad, los recomiendo bastante!!! :)

Really helpful for starting mandarin from scratch

Luke and Phil not only make learning Mandarin fun but also offer valuable insights into the best ways to learn. I enjoyed the short videos, which kept the course from getting boring or overwhelming.

They really do give you the tools to start which is the hardest part. I also like how accessible it is, 20 levels for free and the community feature is nice too.
