Great methodology, and motivation incentives on point. I truly believe I’ll learn mandarin with their help, which I thought was nearly impossible before joining MB

This is by far the easiest way to learn Chinese. Yes, not only did I learn characters easily, it also massively improved my Mandarin a lot. Easy, methodical and motivating.
Finding Mandarin blueprint is the best thing that happened to my mandarin learning journey.

clear structure, great videos, great methodology.. loved it..

After completing the first 45characters in 9 days, the method seems very effective. If I kept this pace for a year I'd be at 1,825 characters, more than halfway to what's required for fluency, but I seems I'm getting faster at it. My only critique so far would be that the subtitle for level 8 is sort of... off-puttingly fatphobic. I get that it's word play on the material, it just kind of makes me cringe and I wonder if it might interrupt learners struggling with eating disorders for example

Mandarin Blueprint has completely transformed the way I learn Chinese. Before this course, characters felt overwhelming and random. Now they feel structured, logical, and actually enjoyable to study.

The character-building method is brilliant. Breaking characters into components and turning them into vivid memory stories makes retention incredibly strong. I remember characters faster and forget them far less often.

The tone and pronunciation training is also outstanding. It builds real confidence from the start instead of leaving tones as an afterthought.

This program requires consistency, but if you put in the work, the results are amazing. For anyone serious about mastering Chinese properly — this is absolutely worth it.

Really different, unique, but effective method compared all Other method that I had saw in learning Chinese. I am really grateful for Phil and Luke generousity for letting me and thousands-Chinese-enthusiast experience their first-13th-MandarinBlueprint-level for free. It really works, friend if you’re wondering. And not only the method but they built the community so we as fellow learners can encourage one another.

It's really impressive how this course is made. Feel like a good game, They thought about everything. It's like lifehack, but for your language skills. Mindhack. Even if i didnt understand, i could ask community and get answer in minutes.

I chose Mandarin Blueprint (MB) because I wanted a comprehensive course that would take me from knowing absolutely nothing about Chinese to being able to read, write, and speak well. I've now been using the MB courses for an hour a day for seven months, and I'm impressed with my progress. I just finished the Foundation course (lessons 1 - 36), and I know 600 characters and about 1,000 words made up of those characters without relying on pinyin. That includes knowing how to recognize the characters, how to write them from memory, and their pronunciation (including initials, finals, and tones). I've also completed MB's Pronunciation Mastery course and the Speaking and Listening Kickstarter. I can read easy materials like the example sentences included in the MB course, as well as graded readers from other companies. While I can read aloud quite well, my listening and extemporaneous speaking skills are lagging behind, so I'll need to find some outside resources to practice having spontaneous conversations. But even so, MB has been more than worth the money for the wealth of resources they provide and the smart learning methods they teach. MB has taken me from zero to the point where I can genuinely begin to use the language, and I can see the path the rest of the way up the mountain to fluency. MB includes enough further material (going up to 3,050 characters, way past HSK 6, and many thousands of additional sentences) that I could keep studying at my current pace for another two and a half years before running out. And because MB's learning methods are fun, even after seven months of daily study, I'm not burned out and am excited to keep climbing this mountain. I strongly recommend Mandarin Blueprint and can say that it has been well worth the cost for me.

I'll be honest. I don't want to talk bad about the other sources I used to start learning Chinese, but when I joined up with MB Pro, I had an 820 day streak of Duolingo, accompanied by many other sources and classes. In the 43 days I have been doing the MB curriculum, I have learned more, remembered more, used more, and spoken more Chinese than I was able to before. Their methods are great. My goal is to speak fluently in 2 years and go to China and I know that is possible and will happen doing what Luke and Phil have created. There is nothing like their courses out there and I am glad I found them. Roy S.

It's so much more than the usual language software. It's not just about learning Chinese but it's about learning how to learn Chinese. It leaves me with a sense of continuous progress ahead and not about counting words behind.

I've already left a review for the main course (excellent!), so this review is more about the Pronunciation Mastery course. I got to level 21 in the main course and then started Pronunciation Mastery. I'm so glad I did! Their breakdown and explanation of how to pronounce each sound is so thorough, including vocalization, tongue and lip positions, that I can tell my pronunciation has improved by leaps and bounds. I was able to correct some mistakes and understand things that were confusing me. Plus, it includes simple vocabulary and grammar lessons as will as helpful tips and resources on studying Chinese and language-learning generally. Highly recommend this as an add-on to the main course!

I spent some time researching how to start learning Chinese from absolute zero, even consulting multiple sources (including AI) to compare methods. Mandarin Blueprint kept coming up again and again. I finally jumped in — and it’s honestly surpassed the hype. The approach is clever, intuitive, and weirdly addictive. For the first time, learning characters actually feels fun and doable. I would give 6 stars if i could.. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Since I started my chinese language journey, the most difficult part was writing and understanding characters and how does characters combine to make difficult ones... i saw chinese character and my mind would go 'what the hell is this?'
But now... it feels so wonderful to actually able to read some characters and understand the meaning... this course is a must recommendation for anyone learning chinese.

I have tried a few apps and course materials to learn Mandarin, however I finally realized I was making little progress.

I follow several sites on YouTube, and saw Luke one day, just as my one year HelloChinese app renewal was due. I liked what he had to say, and it was clear their program was solid, so I began the Mandarin Blueprint Lite for 30 days.

After the Lite program, I immediately subscribed to the Pro program. I'm so glad I did, it's enjoyable, ample resources, great team. I just passed the 100 day mark, and I feel that I am really beginning to make progress now.

Honestly, I never thought I would come this far using Mandarin Blueprint. Their approach got me going nine months since I started. Their lessons are well organized and keep my interest in check. My understanding is now above par and I feel confident that I can take my knowledge for a needed test drive very soon. 谢谢。新年快乐！

I’m going to be completely honest here … I started with the MB Lite, free version with the idea that if I could speak and read Chinese at even the most basic level by the time I finished the first three phases, I would buy the pro version. I felt that this was a considerable investment and I needed to be 100% convinced that I not only could do it but that I would stick with it.

When I started,I had serious doubts about this format for learning Chinese. Not because it doesn’t work since many have learned it using this method and I am in no position to judge the effectiveness of the program over all. My doubts stemmed from my own lack of confidence that it would work for me personally.

But … here I am reading Chinese sentences using the characters I have learned so far with understanding, without pinyin, and being able to pronounce the characters. I am also starting to be able to read other materials that have characters I recognize and get the meaning of the sentences even if I don’t know every character used in the sentence.

I feel now like I can really do this and I plan upgrade to the paid-for MB Pro.

It works. I wasn't sure if I could keep up but I'm reading, pronouncing and writing dozens of Chinese characters after only 2 weeks.

It teaches you to recognise and write easy characters that make up larger ones which means by the time you get to the characters that look complicated, you've already encountered their components hundreds of times before.

I'm so glad I invested and look forward to my xue xi every day.

This course is fantastic! I just learned 3,050 characters. Phil and Luke often claim that you can learn a character in just a minute. At first, it’s hard to believe, but I can assure you, it’s not an exaggeration. The more you learn, the faster it becomes.

Many older reviews suggest that this course is overpriced and only effective for teaching characters, which is not true. The course has improved over time and now offers many additional resources that help you not only achieve solid pronunciation but also become fluent quickly. So, if you want to become fluent in Mandarin while also becoming literate, this is the right place for you.

I’m most impressed by the structure (blueprint) of the course how it applies the 80/20 rule to get the best result for the effort applied; not only identifying the 350 must have words but also the best sequence of strokes and character learning necessary to learn those 350 words most efficiently.
PS. I’ve been using Rocket Languages and Duolingo for years, have over 450 days continuous use on the latter yet Blueprint is teaching me, from day one, stuff I don’t know (mainly the strokes and characters and how to memorise better).

Signed up for Mandarin Blueprint even though my wife is Chinese and should be able to help.

1/ Pro's - Easy to use, you follow their system, which they thoroughly explain, the how's, the why's, the traps, everything that the future holds for you in the course and you go through it, trusting that it will work.

The course is taught with a lot of logic, they pick many common words/ characters/ and components with an eye to how useful they are in general Mandarin. When there is an oddball word used (Halberd) they clearly explain 'why' they would teach an obscure word early in the course. Stuff makes sense.

There is a real sense of progress with lots of PDFs along the way to give you an alternative way to cement information into your daily life. Your Mandarin may be getting better in other methods, but sometimes a "sense of progress" is the motivation that determines whether you actually stick with it to fluency.

Subscription models may be cheaper, and actually more viable long term, but a 'pay once and it's yours forever' model actually appealed to me the most. I do not want to pay for when I get really busy and don't have time for the course. I also travel some, and being online is problematic at times, so having bought it like a book, I can go back to it whenever, and it doesn't feel like I am wasting anything. (I can see the 'wasting' feeling also being motivation for some)

I like these guys. They come across as 'nice' in the videos, very likeable, and this makes it much easier to watch all of the videos. I also appreciate that they bring in 'guest students' to describe some of the students' memory palace stories. I do wish they had a native female speaker to rotate in. Having a native speaker might give us a different accent or phrasing than two guys who learned English first, then Mandarin. My wife says Luuk and Phil's Mandarin is excellent, but when I was in China, there were lots of pronunciations I did not catch, because native Mandarin speakers don't always speak perfectly. So, female Native Mandarin speaker would be a nice add on.

The platform itself is complicated. Way too complicated in my opinion. There is a Mandarin Blueprint Lite version which is free for many lessons. (great resource no matter where you wind up) and if you buy their Pro course, you still study on the Lite platform for a lot of videos. Imagine you buy a "premium" course, which is expensive, but you remain on the Lite free course for weeks? Add in that you also use flashcards, which were originally Anki, but transitioned to Traverse. Add in that there is a podcast, but most of us use Apple podcast or some other podcast server to listen to podcasts. Add in there is a "Discord type" channel called Skool (?) perhaps if you want to chat about the course in their community. But, if you click on "Community" on their webpage, you get a different page which asks you to figure out your seniority before you get redirected ?

Then the flashcard system is difficult to navigate. In my Traverse (my settings may be bad, or I am terrible at Traverse) the relevant sections were at the bottom of 120 sections, which I had to constantly 'find', rather than being in chronological order based on how you would study the sections. Traverse is not intuitive to me, but that might be a 'me' issue.

So, I listed more "Cons" than "Pros" but don't want to give y'all the wrong idea. This course has a lot of value for me. It has well conceived learning paths, lessons that are well thought out as to length and value to you as a student. They speak Mandarin extremely well, so listening to them is easy to understand and a great guideline as to how we should sound. And the production value is top notch. It looks professional. It feels professional. It sounds professional.

For me, it was money well spent! My wife is complimenting me on my progress, her friends are commenting on how improved my pronunciations are, etc, etc etc.

Although it is not inexpensive, I have no doubt that I will get my money's worth, and more importantly "Learn to speak Mandarin" .....
