I like it a lot. I started about 2 months ago and I am now starting to read sentences without Pinyin.
It is a real interesting method to memorize characters.
I have read about a similar approach for learning any language, but I did not quite understand back then. Now with the Movie Hanzi method I understand more.

I like that it is a bit challenging to come up with actors, probs and movies.
My movies do not all work, with the guided Videos and that is ok for me. At the beginning it is a very good guideline to follow, just replacing the actors, props and scenes from the guide videos🤣🤣 Because of that I had a few scenes that did not make any sense and I might need to review them🤣🤣. I think the best part would be the community you enter that helps you a lot

Found the pronunciation course was exactly what I needed!

MB is great! I've been learning Mandarin for more than 20 years (on-off) and got to a level HSK4-5, when I stayed some time in China. But even if I was able to read all Harry Potters :-)) in Chinese that time, the HanZi never really stuck for long, had to keep practicing like almost every day that half of the knowledge doesn't just fly out of the window again.
With MB's structural learning I'm finally learning the tones properly.
Moreover the method is so much fun and I'm sure that I'll use it for learning other stuff as well. Thanx guys

Excellent course and I am so pleased with the concrete results! At 73, I decided to learn Chinese for my personal enjoyment and to prove to myself I can achieve mastering this language. This course is expertly designed to allow that to happen. It is superbly well organized, so that the individual can DAILY see their progress; learning characters with correct tones, pronounciation and meaning by using their Hanzi Movie Method. I know I will be speaking at a B2 level by continuing through the full course.

At last I found Mandarin Blueprint where they explain exactly what I was asking my Chinese tutor from Beijing so many times. She did not understand what I was asking for when I wanted to know e.g. the position of the tongue. You can find all of that here. I really feel that I have improved my pronunciation by Pronunciation Mastery of Mandarin Blueprint. I’m very grateful for that. Go for it!!

I am a senior citizen that married a Chinese lady a few years ago. Being on a fixed income, I started MB Light.
I was a terrible student in school, However, I find the MB method incredibly intuitive. Thank you gentleman for your hard work developing this program!

You may find this review of the Mandarin Blueprint course rather long-winded, but given my potentially rather unique circumstances, hopefully worthwhile.

I am currently 73 years young and being retired, I did extensive online research into the best methods to learn Chinese. Basically, most reputable sites pointed to the Mandarin Blueprint method so … I jumped in. Given the massive amounts of simply world-class learning materials that are both hugely valuable now and, indeed, superb value in the long term, I was happy to purchase their Lifetime Membership.

Here’s where it gets interesting. I started and … not for me! I could not get my head around why I needed to learn characters rather than purely the Chinese words. After all, I only wanted to speak the language, not read it (spoiler alert - BIG MISTAKE). So I gave up after a few days. I thought that spending all that money on a lifetime membership would “force” me to stick with the course, but no! What did I do and what could I do?

I spent about a year in that “wilderness” known as YouTube and/or the many language learning apps available. Yes, I learned a few words, yes I forgot most of them and yes, I wasted about a year. Recently, however, I came across a YouTube video done by Luke from Mandarin Blueprint entitled “Why You Keep Quitting Chinese (And How To Fix It)” and after watching the whole 55 minutes twice, decided there and then to actually buckle down and “properly” learn Chinese via their tried and extensively tested method. I simply can’t believe the results! After a few short months, I am not only enjoying my studies, I am not only learning massively, not only remembering all I have learnt but I am now actually reading Chinese sentences! Keep in mind that at my age, I am sometimes forgetting my native English words and here I am, reading Chinese sentences! What is fascinating is that this learning process is getting easier and faster the more I progress! The more characters I learn, the more and easier it is to learn words which means I can read more sentences which, in turn, means I can learn and understand more words etc, etc, etc. Did I say AMAZING?

Next year, i.e. 2026, my plans are to get married to my long-suffering fiancé and move to China later that year. My fiancé, in turn, promises to help with my language once I am past the beginner’s level! I couldn’t be more excited about this new chapter in my life and, of course, intend to be able to hold in-depth Chinese conversations with my forthcoming new family and friends in the near future. Thank you Mandarin Blueprint.

I have spent many months testing various Mandarin courses, textbooks and online videos but never really got going because they were either too simple, too boring or too academic. With Mandarin Blueprint Pro, things have changed completely! I now have a laser-sharp focus on my goal of reaching fluency in Mandarin, and it is no longer an unobtainable target in a distant future.

It is clear that the two authors have put a huge effort into creating the course. As Luke and Phil are not natives, they are using scientifically proved methods to break down the barriers which keep many people from learning Mandarin, particularly the characters. It is not only very efficient but also a lot of fun as you feel a clear progress just after a few hours of studying. Help is always available if you get stuck, either through the support team, the huge additional content of explanatory videos, or the big community of other learners.

I highly recommend Mandarin Blueprint Pro for anyone interested in learning Mandarin: It is worth every dollar, and I believe it is by far the easiest way to acquire the language.

I have been learning Mandarin Chinese for almost three years and even I made progress and could start basic communication in restaurants and hotels etc. I still had a hard time reading, memorising the characters and thus really getting to the level of fluency that I actually want. I used a mix of some language learning app, self made flashcards and story reading (always with additional Pinyin which made my eyes automatically jump to the "familiar" latin letters). One day I came across the Mandarin Blueprint method and in the beginning I thought this movie memorisation method is a little strange and I don't want to do it. So I forgot about it and continues brute forcing characters in my brain. But after some more frustrating months I remembered this method again and thought to myself "ok just try it". So I did and at the beginning I was really struggling with this method and using my brain like this. But with more and more progress it suddenly made sense to me. Characters I hade been struggling with for months suddenly wer now in my memory without any issue with the correct pronunciation. Thanks to the Mandarin Blueprint team. It is really worth to give it a try. If you looking for fun and efficient way to learn or improve your Chinese - just do it.

I don't normally do reviews but Mandarin Blueprint deserves it as the course is so good. I have just passed Level 13 of the course and I am amazed at how much I am understanding and remembering in Mandarin. Most importantly, the techniques used in the course really work and I feel confident I am on a good path to becoming fluent. Luke and Phil have put something amazing together here.

I had a hard time remembering tones. But with the movie method and stories, it helps you memorize everything a lot faster. Looking forward to continuing into phase 2 and 3!

This is my third review now! I had a little help understanding the sentences logic since I used the Hello Chinese App a year ago. But being able to read them without pinying was a amazing! Looking forward for phase 3!!!

I’m very pleased with this course. They took their time and really went in depth with how to pronounce and execute each sound. I even was able to fix some common mispronunciations I was starting to pick up on. I recommend this to anyone motivated to learn Chinese.

I have studied several languages over the years and have a reasonable mastery of a few and I can definitely say that the experience of learning Chinese with Mandarin Blueprint has been the best so far. I think this is for three reasons:
1. They have thought carefully about what works for learning languages in general and Chinese specifically, designed a course that fits this and also explained their methodology so you know what you’re doing and why. Their unique system for memorising characters in particular is both fun and effective. I’m pleased to say that after just a month of study in my limited spare time I can read some simple sentences, by which I mean I not only recognise the characters and understand the meaning but also recall all the correct pronunciations.
2. They have provided extensive materials that I can use in a way and at a pace that fits my lifestyle; I can listen to dialogue and pronunciation tracks in my car or while running; do flash cards lying in bed when I wake up in the morning; I can make use of any spare 5 minutes I have in the day to learn just a bit more.
3. They give away a significant chunk of the course for free (enough to learn 250+ characters and start reading sentences as well as coaching on pronunciation and a starter course on speaking and listening) so you can have a good go to see what it’s like and whether it works for you before you commit any cash. You also join a community of fellow learners and MB staff for free, which helps provide support and advice.
If you choose to go on to pay for the full course, I feel the price is very reasonable; comparable (at least where I live) with a couple of years of evening classes but with a lot more content than you would get from that and ready for study at your own pace with lifetime access.
I thoroughly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn Chinese and would probably recommend it to anyone else too. Give it a go! What have you got to lose?

Honestly I was skeptical at first and just went along with it , but to my surprise this course has sped up my progress so fast that I'm completely astonished , it's a fun way to study and really effective , when I say I was shocked to realize that I could actually understand and recognize what my chinese friend had typed is an understatement.

I found out about MB through the YouTube videos they made. If I'd know someone else who'd love to learn mandarin, I'd definetly reccomend it to them.

The course is built up wonderfully for someone who seeks structure like me. I get overwhelmed a lot, but with the step by step videos I don't have that at all. I enjoy having short videos on every tiny thing, so I can simply click on the respective video without having to skip to a certain part in a long video.

The system makes sense to me and when it doesn't they always let you know why they teach it that way. It's really transparent.

It shows that they know what they are talking about. It's nothing like in school when they gave you dull input. They make connections to the usage of the language in everyday life which can differ a lot from the formal language one usually learns in school. Therefore it's really practical.

I love how even tiny progress is celebrated, it really motivates to continue. The level reviews are very good at visualizing this.

The community is wonderful, even if I don't share a lot, whenever I do the replies are very genuine and helpful. It also has a lot of potetial for inside jokes since we are all familiar with the HMM method! ;)

In summary: One can see the sheer love and effort you have put in this. Great job guys!!

Mandarin Blueprint is a wonderful course with an incredibly effective and innovative method for remembering Chinese Characters and words. I am beginning the intermediate course and really can't believe the progress I've made. I've been a linguist most of my adult life and have never found a better way to learn a language.

Really enjoying the Mandarin Blueprint, it can feel tedious at times creating movies, until you are doing your flashcard reviews and realize everything is just clicking and you know the character the meaning the tones etc

They offer free access to help build a solid foundation for learning Chinese, and the method they teach is highly effective. The only downside is that the free trial is so good, I’m seriously considering buying lifetime access, even though it’s a bit pricey by my standards. That said, you could argue that if it helps you become fluent in Mandarin Chinese, it’s definitely worth it. I strongly recommend this program to anyone learning Chinese.
