SCAM AND FRAUD - Avoid

A few months ago I received an advert just like everyone else, being offered over £1500 for my Unused stripe account. Having previously been a business owner, this reminded me that i did in fact have an unused stripe account available.

I eventually ended up on a call where a nice gentleman walked me through the transfer process, and paid me out fairly. It all seemed too good to be true, and as it turns out, it was.

Just last week I received a letter and a phone call from the metropolitan police letting me know that over £20,000 worth of fraud has been washed through the stripe account that was supposed to be transferred away.

As it turns out - these fraudsters are purchasing stripe accounts, claiming that they are ‘transferring them’, and using the accounts for fraud, tax avoidance and high risk processing.

I’ve had to complete numerous statements, attend an interview with the police and even have had to spend over £2000 so far on a solicitor to prove this fraud was not committed by myself!

Luckily I’m tech savvy enough to have recorded the ‘sales call’, as the police say they are aware of the suspects. I am very lucky that i am not the first person who this has happened too, as the officer told me that they were aware of ‘MAQ Payments’ and have been investigating them since a report directly from stripe themselves.

Best of luck to anyone else who has fallen for this. Please avoid MAQ and their convincing adverts at ALL costs. If it sounds too good to be true, it clearly is.

Due to the nature of the industry, I was a bit skeptical at first but I did pretty extensive research to make sure it's legitimate:

- The company is registered on company's house
- You get a clear contract that protects you after transfer
- Terms are clear and support as mentioned + payments as mentioned A* for speed, support, everything.

I even messaged the testimonials to check pre-purchase so I really wanted to make sure- and they all said the same thing and were real people.

So yeah do your research anyway as you would when selling anything business-related, read the contract, etc. but yeah it's all pretty clear and straightforward.

Overall, excellent experience - A* in every department.

I don’t usually write reviews but I thought this one might help someone who’s on the fence.

I had an old Stripe account sitting unused for months and didn’t really know what to do with it. I came across this company and they explained everything clearly how the transfer works, what information they need, the legal side, all of it.

They sent over a contract that was easy to read and answered a few questions I had straight away. The process was actually smoother than I expected; no hidden steps, no weird requests. I got confirmation within a day and payment straight after the transfer.

What stood out most was communication every time I messaged, someone replied quickly and kept me updated. I never felt like I was chasing.
