PSA against Master & Dynamic Headphones

If you're considering Master & Dynamic, beware. My experience with their Bugatti Edition MW75 headphones has been a disaster.

A Litany of Failures:

Initial Quality Issues: The $699 Bugatti Edition headphones developed significant defects within five months. The glue on the leather headband came undone with regular use.
Delayed Replacement: It took over a month to get a replacement, which was in an undesired color and was the only available unit. They also offered cheaper, less appealing models as replacements.
Defective Replacement: The replacement arrived with damaged ear cuffs, showing a lack of quality control.
Unexpected Customs Fees: I was charged customs fees without prior notice, adding to my frustration.
Missing Original Packaging: The replacement didn't include the original Bugatti packaging, diminishing the value of the exclusive item.
Irregular Hinges: The right and left ear hinges had different tightness levels, potentially leading to future issues.
Inadequate Response:
Despite providing evidence and waiting weeks for replies, customer service has been unhelpful. They offered store credit or cheaper headphones, neither of which addressed my concerns.

Unresolved Issues:

Customs Fees: I am still owed $21.
Replacement Ear Cuffs: They offered standard ear cuffs, not the higher-quality Bugatti ones.
Original Packaging: Missing from the replacement.
Irregular Hinge: No compensation for the defective hinge and poor experience.
Proposed Solutions:

Full Refund: Return the defective replacement and get a full refund.
Partial Refund: Keep the current headphones and receive a partial refund of $200.
Proper Replacement: Send back the product for a new, properly tested Bugatti Edition, which they seem unable to provide.
Conclusion:
Master & Dynamic has failed to deliver the quality and service expected from a premium brand. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for your premium headphone needs.

One Star is One Too Many

I just purchased a pair of MW07 Plus earbuds on eBay brand new in original packaging and absolutely never used. They arrived with the right earbud not charging which I believe is the fault of the charger itself.
Previously, I have purchased three MW 60 headphones in different colors and I’m very pleased with them. I would think that Master & Dynamic would care to keep repeat customers. Obviously not.
Their reply to me was that they were out of warranty and I should have purchased from an authorized dealer.
Please understand that their products are all made in China and are priced at $299 – $399 new from the company. They are ridiculously overpriced and at least you would think that the company would attempt to work with an individual as to repair and customer service. Nope.
There are many choices out there that offer far better value and customer service. Those include JBL, Apple, Beats, etc.
I chose this company thinking that they would take care of their customers. They don’t.
I would never recommend Master & Dynamic to anyone. Note that 71% of those posting reviews gave them 1Star.
If you were thinking of purchasing from this company – walk away now.

professional and serious

End of February, I passed an order for a MG20 and I must admit that I was quite suspicious and worried about the website when they asked to check for my identity due to multiple on-line fraud. But finally the customer support was very serious and my order has been treated quickly after I sent them the elements they requested. I put 4 stars and not 5 in my evaluation because the product has been shipped to me in economy delivery, while express priority was mentioned on the site. Apart from that, the service was excellent, and the customer service quite reactive by email despite time jetlag between Paris where I live, and New York. So thank you very much M&D.

No support for their own products

I purchased two MA-770 speakers (MSRP of $1,199 each) in 2021. A little over 2 years later one stopped working. Master & Dynamic's website at the time said that they provide out-of-warranty repair services for a fee. After exchanging messages with them, finally I got the following answer: "we are unable to repair the speaker for you and they had removed such from our website as it was made in error". So I got a $1,199 piece of junk that worked for two years with no way to fix it now. Not recommended.

Beware of this company

Beware of this company! I regret not checking reviews before buying. Ordered headphones for Christmas, returned one pair in early January, and despite proof of delivery on 3rd January, no refund by today, February 3rd. Customer service blames warehouse delays. Extremely frustrating experience; avoid at all costs.

I also like in UK and I thought I would…

I also live in UK and I thought I would treat myself as my birthday is soon. Money been taken but this company was unable to fulfil my order plus lack of communication and now I am trying to get my money back. Seriously! DO NOT purchase any goods from this company

I am writing this review out of sheer frustration and disappointment with Master & Dynamic. My sales order #78006, placed on 25th November, has turned into a nightmare, and I feel compelled to share my experience to warn potential customers.

As of today, I have not received my headphone order, and what's even more infuriating is the complete lack of transparency regarding the delivery date. Despite sending two follow-up emails to the support team, I've received nothing but vague apologies and assurances that they are "looking into it."

What adds insult to injury is the audacity of Master & Dynamic to send a marketing email this morning, claiming that orders placed before the 16th December will be delivered by the 25th. Seriously? My order was placed well before that, and I still haven't received a confirmed delivery date. This level of disingenuous communication is not only unprofessional but also deceptive.

This type of behaviour raises serious concerns. I've heard of companies in the past engage in similar tactics when they are facing financial trouble, collecting money without any intention of fulfilling orders. It's appalling to think that a company would exploit customer trust in such a manner, and I hope this is not the case.

Given the complete lack of confidence I now have in Master & Dynamic's ability to fulfil my order satisfactorily, I am requesting a full refund of all monies paid. I believe this is a fair and necessary step, considering the ongoing uncertainty and the evident breakdown in customer service.

To anyone considering purchasing from Master & Dynamic, please beware. The lack of communication, failure to provide a delivery date, and misleading marketing emails are red flags. I sincerely regret choosing this company and advise others to think twice before doing so.

I hope my review serves as a cautionary tale and prompts Master & Dynamic to address their customer service issues promptly.

Product last only 1 - max 2 years

Ik was altijd grote b&o fan. Maar kwam toen de master & Dynamic koptelefoons tegen.
Ik dacht "eens proberen, waarom niet?". Ze zagen er namelijk zeer kwalitatief uit, mooi en de reviews waren zeer lovend.

Ik heb mezelf dus 2 producten van hen cadeau gedaan: de in ears mwo8 & de over ears mh40.

Ik moet zeggen ze klinken geweldig goed, zien er zeer goed uit. Dus daarvoor 5 sterren.

MAAR beide toestellen zijn na 2 jaar jaar kapot gegaan terwijl ik deze alles behalve dagelijks / intensief gebruik.

- mh40: gestopt met werken uit het niks, altijd met liefde zorg voor gedragen, geen gebruikssporen aanwezig, nooit laten vallen enzovoort.
Opeens komt er geen geluid meer uit, voor een koptelefoon van zoveel geld is dat toch ronduit schandalig, mijn veel oudere b&o werkt nog perfect.

- mw08: deze gaan opeens maar 4 minuten mee (batterij). Ik kan dus 1 liedje luisteren en dan is de pret voorbij. Nogmaals deze zijn niet dagelijks of intensief gebruikt.

Opzoek naar een dure koptelefoon die je jaarlijks moet vervangt? Dan is dit je merk!!

Opzoek naar een premium brand voor lange termijn? Kijk dan naar de concurrentie zoals b&o / b&w, meer kwaliteit voor je geld.

Costumer service trouwens ook bijzonder slecht bij m&d, ze vinden het precies normaal dat een product snel kapot gaat.

Ik koop hier nooit meer aan en hoop dat iedereen de reviews leest voor ze willen aankoop.

I got sucked in by the marketing hype…

I got sucked in by the marketing hype and reviews for the M&D mw65 wireless headphones and after paying a premium price for what I thought was a premium product just after 3 years of light use the ear cups are falling apart. Literally coming apart at the seams.
I contacted M&D as this looks to be faulty manufacturing to me. They were only interested in selling me replacements despite me asking about an appeals process, I had no choice in the end other than to buy replacements.
I’ve contacted the CEO and owner of the business, Jonathan L, no response as yet.
I have a pair of AKG headphones that are 10 years old and as good as the day I purchased them. I know where I’ll be spending my money in future, not with M&D that’s for sure.

Do not buy these headphones the…

Do not buy these headphones the customer service representatives are so unprofessional. I wish I read the reviews first, this teaches me however they didn’t even have the invoice in the delivery for customs to clear and customs were calling me.

IT IS NOT WORTH THE £500 at all.

I still have not received my item and if the sound quality is also not good I will be returning it and I have a feeling with all the comments I most likely will be.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

Even if you go on YouTube these are the first headphones I can barely find reviews on and that says alot.

Worst customer service ever

Worst customer service ever, in the UK they have no returns procedure, I had to fight for a return of a faulty earbud even though I only took delivery over a few weeks. Took 50+ emails with 5 different customer support staff to send me a postage label. Once label sent and posted, it was returned to me, these silly people, didn't send me a battery label which is required by DHL, so they send one for me to print, again parcel returned to me, why? DHL doesn't accept printed battery labels, third time I had to send it to some random person in the US? 2 months later over 50+ emails and 2 returned parcels did I get my money back. This is a crooked scam company, read the other reviews, this is run by people who have no idea what they're doing.

Bought the M&D MW08 in Toronto for…

Bought the M&D MW08 in Toronto for music while running. Sound was good, although the features were somewhat limited & app was minimal.
Customer service is brutal. The company has lost its way from a marketing POV. They want money up front for replacements parts which they suggested would be available at the end of Oct/22. Beginning of January still nothing. Their perfunctory email responses seem to come from a junior at the company. Difficult to get access to senior people. With competition being what it is, there is no reason to buy Master & Dynamic. Keep looking is my advice.

Incredible product & sound!

Poor product, shocking service

There seems to be a reoccurring theme, my left ear bud cracked, dropped out and then stopped charging. M&D customer support are less then useless and keep trying to fob me off with more and more instructions for hard resets. They clearly do not care about customer service or honoring their guarantee and I would avoid this company at all costs

This is a very bad product

This is a very bad product. Went out less then 3 months. Couldn’t get in touch with anyone in Customer Service. Such bad quality and they know it that’s why they won’t respond. I will not recommend this product line. Not worth it. You do better with a pair off cheap earphones.

If only it was possible to give 0…

If only it was possible to give 0 stars.
They claim to offer a "limited 2-year guarantee, well, that's a joke.
The earphones last less than a year. Then when you contact their support, they dare to ask you for the original receipt of purchase (it's 2022!), not enough to have the original box with serial numbers on it.
So after less than a year, goodbye to over 300 euros, spent on a "high-end" pair of earbuds.
What a disgrace. Such brand practices should not exist in our days of global commerce.

Wery poorly organized business with a…

Wery poorly organized business with a poor model line wrapped with bright and shiny ads.
As an IT and low-level hardware engineer, I insist that the firmware is very raw.
You face desync constantly.
To reach a stable connection they buffer data and cause a couple of seconds delay between played and the source signal. Left and right constantly lose sync and it takes up to 15 seconds in some cases to sync. (Even though the phone is in my hands).
They tell there's an active noise canceling - it's a lie.
Even YouTubers say this in their reviews. You feel no difference when active noise canceling is on.
Berillium driver produces clear sound but no bass at all. I prefer my 1more quad driver wired over them to enjoy the music.
As a replacement, they offered me a refurbished model
When I asked to replace not with refurbished one but with the new more expensive model (I've offered to cover the difference ofc) they refused (most other sellers do this without any issue)
This screams about severe greed and the inability to take the responsibility for low-quality assembly.
I totally don't recommend anyone to buy their products

Disgusting Business Practices

Absolutely disgusting business practices. I bought a pair of the MW08 Sport on Amazon from an authorized reseller come to find out they're 1. NOT functioning in the right ear and 2. They won't even honor their own warranty, and finally 3. They don't even have repair facilities. So what's the point of the warranty? You can be absolutely assured this company will toss your old one straight into the trash and replace it.
