We own a specialty cafe and worked with matchaeologist for almost a year. We had to switch to Maya from Meiko matcha at some point due to stock levels of other matchas as well as price tripling for Meiko.
The quality of Maya was incredibly disappointing, I would describe it as a latte/culinary grade. It’s very light, lacking aroma and body, not suitable for usucha. It has a gritty texture and doesn’t deliver that “jade green” as described on their website - it’s more of a yellow/brown green. They also tried to convince us that “Maya” is renamed “Meiko” and is of the same quality.
Poor customer service dealing with clients who have concerns and dissatisfaction with the product as well. We’ve spent over €1000 with them on a matcha that’s unusable. We’ve also tried to review them in their website but it doesn’t get published for unknown reason.

I’ve gotten two orders of the Meiko matcha powder and I love it, it’s so perfect for matcha lattes, it smells amazing and it’s such good value for money, I truly couldn’t recommend more

Meiko matcha is one the best i have tried, it is sweet rounded umami wi th a hint of nuttniess.

I think I’ve found a great brand to support that has everything for all my matcha needs. I read good things about Matcha Meiko on Reddit and decided to give it a try. They were right! It’s a great everyday matcha! I use it in my lattes as it has the right body and flavor that I’m looking for. It shines and pairs well with whole milk. My lattes now feel like a treat every time I make one to enjoy. I also recently purchased the matcha matsu, hojicha, and the chasen. All great flavors and the chasen is very well made! My matcha aerates beautifully now. No more cheap chasens that splinter and break.

Really happy with the matcha alhamdulilah! I got the Midori Culinary Matcha 100g, and it was actually recommended to me by my sister who had made the purchase first.
Lovely compact tin, and the matcha initially comes in a separate sachet which is really reassuring as you know that even if the tin gets damaged, the matcha will be perfectly preserved☺️
I’ve been using this matcha to make matcha tiramisu almost every weekend now and it’s been a hit! Even my friend’s mum who hates matcha really enjoyed it alhamdulilah:)

I purchased the Meiko matcha powder, it was the most delicious quality matcha I’ve ever tasted. I have to savor it because it’s literally the best matcha powder I have. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in purchasing. I’ve not tried their other flavors. But meiko is a 10/10!

This matcha is the best I’ve ever had.

I’ve been a massive fan of matcha for many years and have always been on the lookout for a brand that’s got brilliant taste, amazing colour and speedy delivery… all the while being worth the price.

Matchaeologist hits all of these! I bought a couple of different matcha to try (Matsu and Meiko) as a treat for myself and I was so impressed. First off, the delivery came within 2 days which I was not expecting. When trying the matcha, the colour was such a vibrant, rich green that whisked into a smooth consistency with water so well.
The taste was the absolutely amazing as well- no taste of fishiness/grassiness that you can get with cheaper matcha. That alone makes it worth the price.

The customer service has been outstanding and I will continue to be a loyal customer to matchaeologist and will be buying again!

I really enjoyed the matcha I bought. It wasn't astrigent like some other brands.

First of all, the Meiko is a fabulous Matcha. It's bright, consistent and of a high quality. I even use it in chia puddings for some variation. I buy the 100g cans of Meiko from Matchaeologist because it's somewhat more economical. Having said that, you get what you pay for and the Meiko is not inexpensive, but truely a quality Matcha. In my experience, the folks at Matchaeologist provide fast turn-around on orders which is appreciated. Thank you.

It is very suitable for everyday use, it is not bitter at all, it is very, very tasty and you can drink it without sweeteners, although it combines perfectly with sweeteners. Its caffeine comes gradually and lasts a long time. I loved it very much and I have already ordered it in 100 grams. It is important for me to say that I prepared it exactly as they say and this is probably what gave me the best result, 3 grams of matcha and 40 grams of warm water, not boiling, because this is what affects the herbal flavor. I must say that this is a very high-quality matcha that comes from Uji in Japan!! and is picked at the first harvest! I really enjoy this matcha and will continue to purchase it.

This is my second quality matcha as I am new to it and I can compare it to the other brand I tried recently. The Meiko matcha is definitely a beginner friendly as it is very smooth in taste, also mild and balanced, does not have that strong nori/seaweed smell. The first one I tried from another brand had a very strong seaweed smell when mixed with warm water which made me look for matcha that does not have that, as it is not very pleasant to smell. This one does not have that. This matcha powder indeed has those floral notes as it is advertised, when mixed into a drink, which is what I was looking for— I love floral notes in tea and coffee and I knew that’s what I want in my matcha, and I found it! When I received the order, the can was very well packaged. It was well wrapped with bubble wrap and my can arrived with no dents or damaged. Extra point for good packaging! I got 100g can because it was the only available option, and I was not sure if I will like it and wanted to try a 20g can first, but I am now glad I got a larger can and loved it as it is much cheaper to buy in larger quantities and I will definitely restock on this exact matcha brand when I finish this batch. Also might as well try other grades of matcha they sell to experience all of them! Thank you Matchaeologist for the great quality matcha!
