Great service experience

The appointment was easy to schedule and the work on my vehicle began promptly when I dropped it off. I have an older vehicle and all the items I asked to be checked were assessed. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable offering recommendations which would enable my vehicle to drive more efficiently which I appreciated. I would definitely steer friends and family to Mavis Tire in Barnegat.

I went to Mavis Tire in Barnegat NJ for oil change. I was told the oil change will be $37.00. I asked why, because less than 3weeks ago I paid $17.00. The service representative said because prices went up. Because of the situation in the world, I understand prices will increase and having no patience to argue, I am 73 years. I agreed to the oil change. While changing the oil, one of the staff, called me to show me that I need two new tires in the front, two rear wheel sensors and a wheel alignment. I told the staff member that I bought the four tires and had alignment on the car here about two years ago and I don’t drive the car a lot. It is a 2011 Toyota Sienna, with more than 350000 miles. I told him I am not going to buy new tires, I don’t need sensors and I don’t need alignment. I asked him if he will rotate the tires, he said yes, because I had bought the tires there and this was one of the service they provide free for buying the tires. When i bought the tires i was told that they were Mavis 55000 miles tires. According to documentation the tires at present has less than 40000 miles.
I went to pay the bill $37.00, I asked the cashier if the tires were rotated, he said, No. I asked the manager why he did not rotate the tires, he said he cannot rotate the tires without the alignment. I said I don’t need an alignment and I paid for free rotation when I bought the tires. The manager went on to give me a lecture about why I needed an alignment and told me it will cost $99. I told him all I needed what was due to me, a free rotation. I also told him I taught Physics most of my life, and have an excellent understanding of mechanics and safety.
This is another example of dishonesty, a rip off and taking advantage of customers. Before anyone buy get recommendations and do research.

Brought my car on tuesday evening, made an 8am appt, called at 9 and they said they were working on it shortly. Called again at 2pm and they said actually bringing it in now. Got a call back saying what am I looking actually looking to have done, and I stated, didn’t you look at the appointment, or the slip. Then they said ok looking it over and will call back. Never called back, drove by, car never brought in, was in same spot dropped it off at. I called Wednesday and they said oh, let me check. Left me on hold for 20 minutes, probably when they took car in. Didn't get car back to wednesday evening. Then the tire light went on. They filled new tires at 32 when it takes 38. Couldnt get tire light off which only went on after I left ther. Brought it back Friday, told me to leave it, I stated, you have had car for 2 days! They told me they would come check the light and waited an hour, nobody ever came out, as they went out on their cigarette breaks etc. Left, probably wont see me return my business there.

Few weeks ago

In November, we had vehicle towed to Mavis with a blown tire and poor wear on the passenger side. We called for status updates after calling for two days, they never called us on the status, finally the third day. They finally looked at the vehicle. They said it needed two new tires in a wheel alignment. I said to have it fixed. Picked it up and the TPMS light was on, asked to reset it and waited an hour no one showed, so we left. Six months later passenger tire was completely destroyed. Obviously the wheel alignment was never done.
It was the same problem as before, so called alignment.
We get the general response that we hit something only on the side of the original problem, so I had to replace another tire at $288 and the original was 608 so almost $900 for an inferior job. They will never see me there again in nor will I Recommend them to anyone.

Last week, took car to be looked at and the tierod wasno good, the machanic said if the alignment was done, they would have told us about the tie rod.

They did what I asked and they recommended other services that needed to be completed all in a timely manner. Also, alerted me to a potential serious oil leak. This is the second time they have alerted me to this (I need to check it out with another garage).

I just pulled in. The car needed alot of work. I found Oscar, Eli, Kevin & Dante, to be friendly, polite, as well as skilled,& knowledgeable.!! I was in and out, within 3hrs. What a chithole. They took my car out after an oil changed and the employee got into an accident and the manager or vice president didn’t give a damn. They refused to pay for the damage.

Mavis in Barnegat, NJ is my go to place for my car to be serviced. They are friendly, honest and reasonable. They aren't pushy, but will let you know what they may notice that could use maintenance.

Had four tires put on. First impression on entering my vehicle was not positive. No care was taken to ensure oil from mechanic was not all over beige leather doors, seats and steering wheel. Not sure if I would return again.

We were visiting family from SC, originally from the Manahawkin area. Our car had a really bad rattle and we thought it was a tire. It turned out it was the suspension and we also needed 4 new tires. Oscar went out of his way to give us a good price and was very professional. The only reason they are getting 4 stars instead of 5: We noticed a banging noise with the rear passenger side about 5 miles after we left. We had delt with the Phillipsburg store before. Since we were on the way to visit family in that area we stopped there to have them look at it. It turns out that one of the service technicians did not tighten a bolt all the way, which caused the banging. They were able to fix it in 5 minutes and got us back on our way.

I had an emergency and needed to be at a funeral early morning. They front desk was extremely helpful getting me in and out quickly. Thanks again for your quick action.

Always a pleasant visit when coming here for service. Oscar is such an enthusiastic employee and great to deal with!
