Review of Our Italy Tour Experience

Overall, we had a wonderful time exploring Italy, and we appreciate the effort that went into organizing the trip. However, I would like to share some honest feedback regarding the accommodations and one of the guided tours, as I believe these areas need significant improvement.

Rome Hotel (Hotel Toscaloni Bed & Breakfast)

Unfortunately, this was the weakest hotel of the entire trip. The room showed clear signs of poor maintenance. There was visible moisture damage on the walls, especially in the bathroom, where the paint was peeling off. In addition, the air conditioner did not function properly, particularly during our first two nights, making the room quite uncomfortable. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this hotel and would not choose to stay there again.

Florence Hotel

The only advantage of this hotel was its proximity to the train station, which made transportation convenient. However, the neighborhood did not feel particularly pleasant or inviting. The bathroom was extremely small, with a shower that was difficult to use comfortably. The shower door did not close properly, causing water to spill all over the bathroom floor every time we showered. The building itself was very old and, overall, I would not recommend this hotel either.

Venice Hotel (Elite)

This was the best hotel among the four we stayed in. The room was comfortable, and the overall quality was noticeably better than the others. The only downside was its location, as it was relatively far from the main transportation terminal, requiring additional transportation costs and travel time.

Naples Hotel

I would not recommend this hotel at all. The building was very old and lacked basic amenities that are commonly expected, such as a refrigerator and a coffee maker in the room. The breakfast experience was also disappointing. Although the breakfast was displayed in a self-service style, guests were not allowed to serve themselves. Instead, staff members stood behind the buffet and placed only very small portions on guests’ plates. We were not allowed to choose our own food or serve ourselves, which made the experience uncomfortable and quite frustrating.

Sorrento Tour Guide

The guided tour to Sorrento was another disappointing part of the trip. The tour guide’s English proficiency was extremely limited. Only a very small portion of the tour (approximately 10%) was conducted in English, while the majority was presented in Italian and Spanish. Even when English was used, it was often broken and difficult to understand. As English-speaking travelers, we felt excluded from much of the tour and were unable to fully enjoy or benefit from the experience.
Capri Tour

On a positive note, our tour to Capri was the highlight of our trip. Our tour guide, Gabriel, was exceptional. He was professional, highly experienced, knowledgeable, well-organized, and made the entire day enjoyable from start to finish. He communicated clearly in English, kept the group engaged, and ensured that everyone felt included and informed throughout the tour. His enthusiasm, friendliness, and expertise made a significant difference in our overall experience. Thanks to Gabriel, our Capri tour was truly outstanding and one of the most memorable parts of our vacation.
While there were several aspects of the trip that need improvement, we truly appreciate the excellent organization of the Capri tour and the professionalism of Gabriel. We hope our feedback helps improve the experience for future travelers.

This trip to Italy was hands-down the best experience and best trip I have ever taken. From the moment we landed in Rome, everything was seamless. It was so lovely knowing that everything was taken care of and all we had to do was enjoy our time! I am a travel advisor and I use Meet and Greet for all of my Italy itineraries and being able to experience them first hand was fantastic! Meet and Greet is the only company I trust with my personal and my client's Italy Adventures!

Our 10 day trip was great! We got to see many different sites in each of the four cities. The hotels were comfortable and clean although we thought the one in Rome should be closer to the train station. The hotel in Naples should probably be in a less sketchy area. We appreciated the Hop on Hop off buses in Rome and Florence - got to see more this way. The tours in Naples were amazing and well run. The tour in Venice was good but we thought it was rushed and we honestly could have skipped over Torcello and spent more time in Burano. All in all it was a wonderful experience and we highly recommend it.

We had a great 10 days in Italy! It was wonderful having train tickets and hotel accommodations all sorted for you! A few of the hotels were not what I would have selected, beds very uncomfortable and we didnt like that we had to leave our key when leaving the room..kinda felt like being on a curfew at the hotel in Florence. But otherwise everything was amazing! We will definitely use Air Canada Vacations for our next holiday!

Very impressed with the tour, and the efficiency of the itinerary webpage, to provide all the documents/vouchers and train tickets I needed. Really helped me plan those parts of the trip, and also helped me plan the rest of my time too.
All of the activities and local tours were great, and gave me a great taste of Italy.
Also impressed with the promptness of responses when I had questions or needed clarifications.

Meet and greet was a life saver. I booked a honeymoon cruise out of Bari, Italy but I couldn't quite figure out local tours in Naples and Bari for us. Nor could I figure out the trains. Meet and greet entered the picture within less than 30 days and got us 2 tours and car service in each where we stopped so that we didn't have to worry about getting from one place to the other.

Annamaria is a tour guide extraordinaire. She was our Meet & Greet Guide for our Flavours of Italy AirCanada Vacations trip to Venice, Florence and Rome, Sept. 13-22, 2025. Annamaria’s love, passion and knowledge of everywhere we visited made our trip truly memorable. I highly recommend this trip and Annamaria as a tour guide.

Meet & Greet Italy's responsiveness and services are STELLAR!! Once you have booked your trip, they give you a very detailed itinerary, and are always on-hand to answer any questions! Also, each hotel was great and conveniently close to a train station.

There was one tour that was suddenly cancelled, and customer service was quick to respond in offering a backup or a refund. Even when things go unexpected, customer service is there to help, and I truly appreciaetd that.

Planning a multi-city vacation in an unfamiliar country is stressful, but Meet & Greet went above and beyond to take away that stress, and allowed me to enjoy Italy with my family. Our wonderful vacation was all thanks to them, and I cannot recommend them enough <3 Thanks you to EVERYONE at Meet & Greet who helped us!!

Milena made our tour 5 star. She helped with all of our extras. Nothing was a problem. Not only helpful, but friendly and giving of her time.

Everything was extremely well planned and laid out with the exception of the hotel ‘in’ Venice. The hotel was not in Venice and required navigating the public bus. Luckily we were able to buy tickets at our hotel. It certainly wasn’t hard once we understood but would be helpful to know going into that section of the trip. While the other cities had hop/on/hop off bus I felt like we were left completely on our own in Venice which was certainly the more difficult to navigate. Otherwise, an absolutely fantastic trip!

Our guide, Milena, was excellent. She would go out of her way to help people and is so enthusiastic and knowledgeable of her country.
Only flaw, which not her fault, was having to join in with big groups

Melena was fantastic, very engaging full of knowledge and energy. Super organized and in most respects far better than the other guides used during the tour. Well done and thank you.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 12 day small group tour with guide Milena. She's a whiz - great company, super-organized, cool and calm all the way. I loved how proud she is of her beloved Italy, imparting lots of historical and geographic facts. Accommodation was of a high standard. My only recommendation is to plan an extra day at each the beginning and end of the tour, ie Milan and Venice because there's so much to see and absorb

Cette divine Italie est de toute beauté, la coordination de Meet and Greet Italy nous a satisfait et toujours avec des réponses rapides selon les besoins.

Mais pour le choix des hôtels, l'hôtel (choix standard) à Venise Mestre a été la pire expérience de notre vie, un accueil militaire, une chambre grande comme un garde-robe avec accès en passant par la cafétéria du matin et la salle bain transformée en piscine suite aux douches.

À part cela, tout était parfait et merci

We were not happy with the included tours. For Burano, Murano, not enough time at all to see anything, would have been better to go on our own. The Capri Island exact same complaint. Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, same thing, although beautiful to see just too rushed at each stop. And the driver only spoke to the two mexican tourists, did not explain or speak to us and the other english speakers. This will prevent us from booking another vacation with Air Canada. My original itinerary had a 9:30 am pick up to Rome airport for return home, realized it was wrong based on our flight so emailed and was assured of a 7:30 am pick up. Then our hotel says they called and its a 7 am pick up so I emailed again and was told we would never call the hotel its 7:30. This was incorrect, we got a call to our room at 6:45 am saying driver had arrived, lucky we were ready as we were going to have breakfast at 7 when it opened which we missed. They apologized but this was so disorganized and stressful to us, not impressed.

My wife and I had an excellent trip on our Italy tour in May 2024 mainly due to our tour leader Milena. She is very organized, an excellent communicator with an amazing personality. The tour involves alot of walking but we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Venice, Florence and Rome.

We booked this vacation for our family of 5, and we had an amazing vacation without a single complaint. I'll mention a few things to consider.
1. The basic 3 star hotel rooms were interesting. With a family of 5 we had 2 rooms each night. Pretty much all rooms in 4 cities had single beds. If this is a problem upgrade your rooms.
2. We loved the Venice boat tour, and the sorento tour that was planned for us. The hop on/off buses are not our style but we used them to get around the cities faster with less walking so was a bonus for us.
3. We accidentally got off our train 1 stop early in Naples and called the company. They got in touch with our pick up driver and he wasted no time coming to get us. We only lost 1 hr total, thank you for that save!
4. We loved this package as it gave us a taste or so much Italian culture.

We would book again!

I originally booked this trip through an American company called Elsewhere, which must partner with Meet and Greet. I was explicit to my "concierge" that this is my honeymoon, I wanted luxury and convenience, and that my budget was flexible to accommodate higher end options. I asked her to give me options, because my preferences could change depending on availability. She booked a week long stay in the Tuscany region without asking too many questions beyond the initial information I told her, and given that I am PAYING for a CONCIERGE service, I figured she had listened to my requests the first time and I didn't need to do thorough research on all of her work, given she is the local EXPERT and I am not at all familiar with the region. My mistake.
The first hotel was one *I* told her to book, that I had found online prior to working with this company, and was absolutely lovely. The second hotel, which I started reading more about on the day we were due to check in and had a bad feeling about based on the reviews, was the total opposite of luxury. I had told the "concierge" in advance that we were renting a car (thus being able to drive through Tuscany), only to learn on the day we were due to check in that there is no parking allowed in the town where she booked our hotel. I contacted the concierge service in Italy and was basically told to kick rocks, that they didn't make any errors, and they weren't willing to do a thing to help because "no one else ever complained before", meaning they must have a relationship with this property since this is where they send all customers. The hotel has no easy parking (it's down a hill, which is fun with all our luggage in the rain.) It's old, outdated, the walls are paper thin, no air control (hot OR cold), no amenities, very bare bones -- I spent an hour of my time looking up a true luxury resort and we'll check out of here as quickly as possible and into that one tomorrow to salvage the trip.
The situation has been little short of a disgrace. They took $11,000 of my money and booked subpar hotels with it (except for the one I requested), and then told me I should have done my own research. They're right; I should have, and I won't make that mistake again. Hopefully this review saves someone else the mistake of every using this company to book anything, as it's nothing but false advertising and bait/switch. I'll be lodging a complaint with the reserving company, as suggested, and doing everything I can to alert others to the horrible service and fraud perpetuated by this company.

This tour is an action-packed, immersive introduction to Italy, perfect for those ready to embrace a challenge. August's heat can soar above 35°C, and there’s a lot of walking involved, but it’s exactly what I signed up for—and I have absolutely no regrets. This has been one of my favorite travel experiences. Traveling alone can sometimes feel lonely, but not with Milena as your host! She is incredibly inclusive, kind, and genuine. Milena quickly understood what was important to each member of the group and made sure we were all enjoying ourselves, offering tailored suggestions and accommodating everyone’s needs.

Our days typically began around 8-9 AM, with train travel between destinations (where your luggage is fully taken care of—a lifesaver!) and a three-hour walking tour of each city. Dinners were thoughtfully chosen to reflect the local cuisine, and they were all delicious. I was incredibly fortunate to have both a wonderful group and an outstanding host in Milena.

If I could make a suggestion, it would be to allow a bit more free time—perhaps reducing the walking tours to two hours instead of three—and to reconsider the hotels used in Milan, Rome, and Sorrento. The hotels in Milan and Rome were in less-than-ideal locations, where I didn’t feel entirely safe exploring alone, and the Sorrento hotel, though decent, was a bit outdated and required a shuttle to get into town.

However, these minor issues did not dampen my experience. From Milan to Bellagio, Lake Como, Venice, Florence, Siena (incredible!), Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri, every moment was memorable. Thank you, Milena, for your impeccable care and guidance—you’re one in a million, and this trip was fantastic because of you!

The experience was so hospitable and accommodating. I had the pleasure of having Milena be our guide and she was so social and happy to assist with whatever we needed. I really love that they have luggage tags available that moves your luggage for you from location to location. It's such a hassle if you're doing it yourself, especially for European summer. I will say, be prepared to do A LOT of walking. It was done at a slow pace so you're not rushed but what made it mostly difficult was the frequent starting and stopping, and standing. It was highly educational. I did find odd was the headphones and you have to carry a little radio around at times. It definitely is convenient when you have a large group, you can hear no matter how far in the back you are. My only complaint is mainly a personal preference, I don't like having something in my ear all the time, so I just stayed up in the front. I will say, if you plan on doing something of your own without the group, what really made my day was how they were willing to accommodate. I wanted to go to Villa Balbianello which wasn't on the itinerary. If you miss something, you won't get a refund but for me that wasn't an issue. The big shout-out was they were willing to pick me and my mom up as long as we reached a certain location by a certain time. They really made it work for all of us and made no hinderance to the rest of the group! I don't think other companies or people involved would be so flexible and understanding as that.
