Bad Healthcare
After going to the ER for blood in my urine and extreme pain I was told I had a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). I gently protested that the pain was extreme and there was blood in the bowl. My concerns were ignored. I was told a UTI could be painful. Of course I felt like a fool for being taken to the ER for what I was told was a UTI.
Turns out the brain trust at Lincoln Memorial were wrong. I had a kidney stone that was lodged and needed to be surgically removed.
So I returned at a later date for the surgery. I am being in a room before going in to surgery. In lumbers a very large female nurse. No introduction, no hello. The rude husky nurse jabs me three times with the IV needle. No luck getting it started. She says NOTHING. No apology. No nothing from Nurse Happy-Stabby.
After the third failed attempt I was afraid she was going to go in for the FOURTH attempt. So I told her "Stop! No more."
This beast of a nurse YELLS at me in front of my startled wife, "Don't you raise your voice to me! I'm not going to!" I don't recall raising my voice. Maybe I did. I do recall being furious that this incompetent nurse that stuck me three times is now SCREAMING at me in front of my stunned wife. No "I'm sorry I stabbed you unsuccessfully THREE TIMES in the same place. I will get someone else to help."
I will say I wanted to stab Nurse Gentle-Heart a few times with the IV needle to see how see liked it and then scold her for being upset.
But moderation prevailed.
I did protested once more after being yelled at by Nurse Hugs-A-Lot. She told me "You don't have to have the surgery!" That's some next level care! Then she and her poor strained scrubs storms off. Good riddance.
When I'm wheeled in for surgery, the doctor was very good and kind. He flawlessly got the IV started. The next thing I remember I was in the recovery room.
As other reviewers have noted, some of the nurses are off the chart rude.
It's been a long time since I lived in Lincoln, IL. But I'll never forget Nurse Hugs-A-Lot and her sunny disposition. Seems this nurse has angered other patients as well.
