MotiveWave trades its powerful, advanced charting capabilities for an interface stuck in the past, an exorbitant pricing model, and a sluggish performance that makes it frustrating for active day trading.

User Experience & Interface

Clunky Layout: The platform looks and feels like software designed in the early 2000s, featuring cluttered menus, non-intuitive button placements, and a steep learning curve that wastes valuable time during fast-moving markets.

High Resource Consumption: Even on a robust modern PC, the software frequently hogs RAM, stutters during high-volatility sessions, and occasionally freezes right when you need to execute or manage a critical trade.

Poor Multi-Monitor Support: Detaching charts and organizing workspaces across multiple screens often results in detached windows disappearing, scaling bugs, and layout settings failing to save properly between sessions.

Pricing & Licensing

Punitive Cost Structure: Compared to modern competitors offering robust free charting or reasonable monthly subscriptions, MotiveWave forces users into expensive lifetime licenses or hefty annual fees just to access essential tools.

Aggressive Add-On Paywalls: Basic features—such as specific advanced study packs or Elliott Wave auto-counting tools—are locked behind expensive tier upgrades, making the total cost of ownership unreasonably high.

Reliability & Support

Broker Integration Issues: Connecting to certain popular brokers via their API plugins can be unstable, leading to dropped feeds, delayed order routing, and phantom fills during critical market hours.

Stiff Support Policies: Customer support is slow to respond to technical tickets, and troubleshooting complex workspace corruption issues often relies on user-run forums rather than direct developer assistance.

The APP on my tablet and phone experience is unique, and it feels incredible to read order flow, great visualization detailed and a highly professional performance on my personal devices. With this APP from now and on my trading is much easier anywhere anytime by the way after 1 year using MW desktop in 4 monitors x 27" now, I have all I want, thank you!

The support was outstanding and esceptional whenever Joe and Sarah were there to answer any of my questions and any help I needed. I decided that Motivewave was unfortuantely not the right software for my current device specs. So sadly I had to leave motivewave behinds. Its so simple and easy to use, its provides the greatest value for the price. And yes I've tried alot of the other biggest names out there ATASX, Bookmaps, Tradingview, etc. And hands down I love motivewave out of them all. Let me tell you why I had to leave, I run a rediculous amount of indicators and charts on my Laptop all at once, and IF I had better better laptops specs, I wouldve stayed. But I had to switch to sierracharts which is unfortunate since its so complicated, but sometimes thats how it goes woth these things.

For anyone who uses few indicators and only trades one asset and 3 charts at a time, motivewave will work perfectly for you. But I like to run like 12 charts and 3 assets and like 10 indicators on each haha.

Once again, shoutout to Joe and Sarah, they even sent me a coded patch for motivewave to see if that helped, but its just that motivewave runs on java and not native C++ so that a game changer when it comes to speed and reliability. Just for the next person to keep in mind.

My issue was successfully resolved in a timely matter.

It keeps freezing I have to restart the desktop app dozen of times a day, MotiveWave is a lot worse that TradingView, the platform is old, lagging very poor quality. Terrible experience, I don't recommend anyone to use it!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent software and outstanding customer support

I recently moved from Windows to Ubuntu Linux and wanted to get MotiveWave running in my new Linux environment.

During the migration, I experienced a login issue that I couldn't resolve on my own. The MotiveWave team responded by arranging a Zoom meeting and worked with me in a very professional and methodical way to investigate the problem. I was genuinely impressed by the time they invested and by their commitment to finding the correct solution.

The software itself is fast, stable and performs excellently on Linux. What impressed me just as much was the quality of the support. Having knowledgeable people who genuinely care about helping their customers adds tremendous value to an already excellent product.

In my experience, excellent software combined with outstanding customer service deserves five stars.

I have been a user of this trading software for years now, and I have tried ALL the programs that exist out there. When we talk about trading, we're talking about real money, and having a platform you trust handle your orders and be stable during times of high volatility is key. There is simply no other platform I trust more than MotiveWave.

The depth of their tools is extensive, and the customization is incredible. What I like most about MotiveWave in this department though, is that the tools are made to serve you and your trading needs. Every feature has a specific purpose in mind, and although there is a learning curve towards understand every option in there, once you do- the platform really caters to your needs.

The support team as well is incredibly hands on, gets back to you within a couple hours of reaching out, and also really does a great job of incorporating features the community is asking for. I don't know how they do it, but this program really feels like it's made specifically for me, and I'm sure others can relate.

I only have nice things to say about support(Brian). I am new to trading and I heard about Motivewave and wanted to give it a try. I run into all sort of issues. When I reached out to support, Brian was assigned to my case. He was so nice and responsive. At different times during our conversation he even did a personalized video guiding me through what to do, which was super nice. I am still trying the product, and my initial take is that it appears to be a solid product I would recommend.

Horrible. How is this a level 2 data platform and somehow performs worse than trading view? Always lagging and freezingat critical moments

Ich nutze seit mehren Jahren diese Software. Sie läuft stabil und bietet derzeit für mich alle Möglichkeiten, insbesodere EW und Handelsbereich bieten sehr gute Mögliochkeiten Sehr positive ist der Support zu bewerten, der in der Regel innerhalb von 25 h antwortet und sich sehr intensiv mit eventuell auftretenden Problemen auseinandersetzt. Eine deutschsprachige Verion wäre natürlich noch besser, vielleicht klappt das demnächst auch noch.

I was really frustrated with MotiveWave and sent a pretty heated email rant about chart clutter from filled trades, Big Trades/Delta Profile issues on reload, order management, P/L visibility, and random freezes. I only stuck with it because my mentor uses it, but I was close to quitting.
Brian from support replied quickly with clear explanations and pointed me to the exact settings I needed (especially Show Filled under Orders > Display, the P/L Ladder, and switching the Rithmic connection). I had assumed there were no fixes because my mentor just said to “put up with it,” but digging into the preferences made a huge difference. Charts are cleaner, order flow tools are more usable, and performance is much better now.
The platform has a lot of power once you know where the settings are, and the support was genuinely excellent; responsive, helpful, and non-defensive. That alone made me change my mind completely. I’ll definitely be recommending MotiveWave to others and continuing to use it.
If you’re on the fence, give the settings a try and don’t hesitate to reach out to support. Game changer for me. Platform is clean as hell and rock solid once you get to know it a little!

I had a issue and brian arranged a zoom meeting to help me out even though it was not a motivewave problem.

I can say the automated emails can be a bit frustrating and initial wait times can sometimes be long but once I got in contact with support they did a great job of helping me out and getting my Rithmic connection up and running. Hopped on a zoom call and it was quick and easy troubleshooting.

MotiveWave is one of the best trading platforms in the trading community. Compared to many competing software solutions, it comes at a very reasonable and accessible price, especially considering the level of functionality it offers.

The platform provides very powerful order flow tools, and overall it is highly customizable, allowing traders to adapt it to their own style and workflow.

Another strong point is the support team, which has been consistently helpful and responsive whenever I had any questions or issues.

Overall, it’s a solid and professional platform that I can confidently recommend to other traders.

I’ve been using MotiveWave for almost 3 years now and I see no reason for looking elsewhere. I think it’s an excellent, top notch platform across the board, but by far the best option as a Mac user.
As everyone else mentions, the support is second to none.
