The company is the best ever. From the guides to the accommodations to food. So very well organized and professional. Everything is done. All we had to do was enjoy.

I found Mountain Travel Sobek through a friend who had taken an Everest Base Camp trip almost 20 years earlier. I was so impressed with their history in the area, the strength of the team on the trail, the fine-tuned itinerary, and the personal attention and support we each received. I knew this would be the trip of a lifetime, yet it exceeded all expectations I ever had.

“This was a great trip with a nice mix of history of Muslin influence in Spain at the beginning in Granada and Cordoba at the end with some nice hiking in the middle. The guides and food were great and we saw very few other people on the trails.

“This was my second MT Sobek trip. Both trips were life changing experiences. Bhutan was nothing short of amazing. Tandin's sense of humor, kindness and knowledge made the trip extra special. He and the crew took such good care of us. The attention to our personal wellbeing is what will keep me a forever client. Our accommodations were lovely. I can’t wait for my next MT Sobek adventure.”

For travelers who are interested in history and architecture, this trip will more than satisfy. Unless you are an expert on ancient cultures, you will be amazed at how rich the findings are, and how sophisticated some of the settlements were. The renovations are beautifully done and are a photographers dream. For the shoppers of the world- you will be very tempted- repeatedly!

EBC features breathtaking views, challenging but beautiful hikes and a better view and understanding of the lives and culture of the Sherpa people. Our guide took amazing care of us to guarantee our enjoyment, comfort and safety while teaching us about the mountain, the expeditions and the people who spend their lives there. EBC was the destination but the journey there was the adventure. Summiting Kala Patar and the views from the top was the cherry on top. Not for the faint of heart but an amazing time and challenge.

Just finished hiking in north central Portugal with MT Sobek. An unparalleled experience! Our knowledgeable and caring guides, Pedro and Filipe, walked us through the narrow streets of Lisbon, through riverside fields of wildflowers, up rugged lesser traveled trails to castles and mountain tops, and through otherworldly geology to hidden villages. Our accommodations were comfortable, clean and unique. The food was authentic and delicious. This was our first trip with MT Sobek and we couldn’t have been happier.

Mountain Travel Sobek consistently delivers high quality trips (just finished my 6th one) where the guides are friendly, patient and knowledgeable, the accommodations are comfortable, the food is delicious and local, and the daily adventures keep you on your toes. Every trip creates lifetime memories and I keep coming back for more because I have such a phenomenal time exploring new parts of the world.

I have taken two hiking trips with MT Sobek (Morocco and Patagonia). I highly recommend this travel company. They deliver what is promised to the highest standard. They seek out the best possible locations, work with local, knowledgeable guides and everything is so well organized. Their staff in the US is excellent and as a traveler you are well prepared for every trip.

I did the Ultimate Patagonia hiking trip in late March 2024. The trip was truly amazing: the structure and organization of the trip, the incredible trip leaders, the group I travelled with, the food and lodging and of course, Patagonia (!!), which is a truly special place. I'd highly recommend this to anyone fit enough and adaptable enough to enjoy it (especially the weather - we experienced it all!)

Our Kumano Kodo Walking Trip was well thought out, planned and executed. Our guide was knowledgeable and dedicated to make our trip special. Meals and accommodations were all excellent. A truly cultural submersion that my family will always remember.

This trip is almost indescribable - I have traveled all over the world and worked with animals in many remote places but this trip by far exceeded those experiences. The beauty of the animals and the diverse ecosystem of Africa will never be forgotten. We were always comfortable and every need was met by the guides and driver. The amount of knowledge our lead guide possessed was beyond expectations- I learned so much! I would definitely travel with Sobek in the future.”

There are no words to convey how meaningful and spectacular this adventure was for me and my old college roommate. Hiking through Patagonia with my group lead by Ro (and his dependable supply of chocolate) was medicine for my soul. The pacing and timing of everything (food, bathroom breaks, and intensity of hikes) made participating stress free. The duration and intensity of our hiking schedule was well balanced with relaxation to provide a sense of accomplishment without becoming burdensome. By the third day, I had already started scheming of ways to return to the rainbows and rolling trails, carved mountains, teal lakes, fiery skies, thundering calving glaciers, and the grassy… or rocky… expanses in between. I’m ready for part 2.0! Clearly, I’ve been overwhelmed by this Patagonia experience. By supporting the excellent work my guides (Ro, Eduardo, and Lucho) and adventure coordinator (Erin) do everyday, MTSobek has set a new gold standard for all my future hiking adventures!

Our trip to Patagonia was a dream! After meeting up with our travel group, we spent the next six days experiencing the incredible beauty of this unique part of the world. Cristian and Eduardo, our wonderful guides, pointed out wildlife, geological formations, guided us on breathtaking hikes, and taught us about Patagonian culture. They were knowledgeable, kind, patient, and comical! Best of all, we didn't have to worry about a thing. We had clean and comfortable transportation with our fantastic driver, Eduardo, spent our nights in luxurious hotels with amazing views, and ate fresh, incredible meals. We truly felt spoiled!

This is my third adventure with MTSobek! Each was a great experience while each was unique they all had awesome staff, guides, hotels, and food options! I’ll be using them more!!

This was my first trip with MT Sobek and my first hiking trip of this kind. I really didn't know what to expect. The experience was wonderful! I did not have much difficulty with the hikes and was able to keep up. We were a small, very compatible group of various ages, backgrounds and abilities, from all over the country. Our guides were excellent and we loved them. We all had such fun together. The accommodations and meals were excellent. And the parks, oh my goodness, were so beautiful and different and interesting. Would I recommend this trip? Oh yes, indeed!

MTS is all about serving the client. The leaders are humble and very competent and qualified. Big Bend National Park is a gem. There were so many different aspects and hidden treasures in the park. We were learning new things everyday. Our group was great. It was fun meeting people from across our country.

We love going on trips with Mt. Sobek. In short, if it's a Mt. Sobek trip, we know it's going to exceed our expectations and be worth every penny. Their planning and guides make the whole experience easy. They choose excellent itineraries, great accommodations, and provide local guides, food, and experiences.... Each aspect of the trip is well thought out. It is SO much easier than organizing a trip on our own. We can enjoy the scenery and hiking without thinking about where we will stay, eat, etc. It's seamless. All we have to do is show up ready to go. We have already booked our next trip with Mt. Sobek -- to Iceland!! Can't wait to see what they have in store.
