Charged for Over Two Years Without Billing Emails
I subscribed to MUBI for six months, drawn to its curated selection, thoughtful approach to cinema, and the appealing discounted price. I watched only a few films in the first months, as I either didnât have the time or the titles I wanted werenât available. As life moved on, I stopped logging in.
I was under the impression I had canceled the subscription â possibly more than once â until I recently discovered Iâd been charged monthly for over two and a half years, amounting to more than â¬300.
I was shocked. I tried logging in using all the email addresses I might have used, cancel the subscription, but couldnât figure it out.
My bank was unable to block the recurring charges and eventually advised me to cancel the card.
During that entire time, I received no monthly billing emails, no payment confirmations, no reminders â only the original subscription confirmation, and, much later, an email notifying me of a declined payment. That final email is what allowed me to log back in and finally cancel the subscription.
I take full responsibility for not checking sooner. Still, for a platform that presents itself as refined, curated, and intentional, this level of silence around billing feels out of step. Transparency â even in quiet, administrative matters â is part of a brandâs integrity.
Iâve always spoken highly of MUBI and continue to admire its cinematic vision. But this experience felt misaligned with the clarity and honesty I believed the platform stood for.

La piattaforma non ha un buon formato e non Ú comodo trovare i film. Anche quando si trovano di fatto non sono disponibili. Si possono vedere solo i film in cartellone che non sono molti e poco altro. Dovrebbe essere una piattaforma di film d'autore e invece Ú una presa in giro. I film disponibili sono pochissimi. Avevo sottoscritto la prova gratuita di 7 giorni, al tentativo di annullare il rinnovo dell'abbonamento al termine della stessa mi Ú stata offerta la possibilità di allungare la prova gratuita a 30 giorni: accettata questa offerta dopo solo qualche giorno mi sono stati addebitati 11,99â¬. Procedo con il tentativo di annullare l'abbonamento ma il mese successivo ricevo comunque l'addebito di 11,99⬠nonostante non abbia nessun abbonamento attivo e quindi non riesca neanche a usufruire dei servizi. Ho contattato il servizio clienti che non risponde.
Absolutely appalling service
Absolutely appalling service, if I could give it zero stars I would. Films advertised were suddenly "unavailable" once you signed up. Contacted customer services to cancel immediately after signing up and it took them over one week to reply. When they did reply they said "We do not offer refunds and that MUBI is an internet database where people rate movies even if Mubi doesn't show them". Interesting business tactic they have. After three more attempts at contacting their non existent service and getting fobbed off by the disinterested Guillherme (I think he's the only customer service they have) and he doesn't do much except point blank refuse to put you through to a manager. He's the big boss and what he says goes. Well let's see what Trading Standards have to say about this sham company. One big scam don't know how they've got away with it to now

Such a bad choice/lack of content that I cancelled my offer early and still felt ripped off! Not to mention the majority of their library isn't actually available to stream, which I find very misleading.

Servizio clienti veramente pessimo, li ho contattati almeno 5 volte senza avere nessuna risposta che non sia preimpostata. Ho richiesto il rimborso poichÚ non avevo intenzione di rinnovare l'abbonamento annuale che si Ú rinnovato automaticamente. Niente, nada, nessuno risponde. Uno schifo davvero. Non uso il servizio da mesi, i film sono sempre gli stessi e il parco film italiano Ú imbarazzante rispetto a quello estero. Che schifo. Non abbonatevi.

Disdire l'abbonamento Ú un calvario: ho provato da smartphone, si suppone inviino un codice per il login, mai arrivato, ho provato il reset password e anche qui non ricevo il link via mail, ho provato con il QR code sulla TV, niente.... alla fine da pc, dopo diversi tentativi, finalmente non so più in che modo riesco a ricevere la istruzioni per il reset della password e disdire.

Concordo pienamente con le recensioni, all' inizio mi era sembrata un' ottima idea e ho fatto l' abbonamento trimestrale e poi quello annuale ad un prezzo di 60â¬, non l' ho usato un gran che, i titoli interessanti sono sporadici ma pazienza scelta mia. Poi però: rinnovo automatico senza comunicazione precedente (come invece da legislazione consumatori), aumento di 35⬠senza possibilità di scelta di adesione e assistenza inesistente. No grazie, non lo consiglio a nessuno sono pratiche più che truffaldine.

i thought the big unique movie selection is cool, but almost EVERY movie i wanted to watch on it wasn't accessible 99% even though i payed 12⬠a month. it was hard to find the cancelling option. lots of wasted money.
