Great service, clearly explained future maintenance and tyre plan

First time visiting mycar for my Hyundai i30 for regular service - usually get Hyundai local dealer - mycar staff friendly and did my service on time. Price was at least $100 cheaper than my local Hyundai dealer.

Professional and friendly service.

Absolutely phenomenal experience with Simon & James at MyCar. This isn't the first time I've been in, and I'll keep going back because their communication is always honest and they're an extremely reliable workshop. They always pick up the phone too which is awesome.

Late November, I brought my modified Nissan 350Z in for a roadworthy after it not being in use for a very long time, and the same day they were able to advise everything that needed to be done to get it through a roadworthy. They got me a quote promptly and advised the soonest they'd be able to get it booked in. This took a couple weeks as we had some parts to order, which was fine.

Come the day that the work needed to be done, and the work came in considerably cheaper than they'd originally quoted. I'd approved the initial price, so while they could have just charged me that price, they communicated exactly what wasn't required, and brought the price down substantially, which was a great surprise.

As with many older cars, problems can arise especially when large amounts of work are done on them - after major work was done, unfortunately the AC compressor decided it was time to finally die after 20 years of running strong. Though, it wasn't that simple to diagnose...

I brought it back and the same day the issue arose after I called in to tell them the AC wasn't working, so they regassed it for free, and then spent 3 days diagnosing the entire system to try and work out what was going wrong, which they also did not charge me for. They discovered it was the compressor that needed replacement, and Simon agreed to fit the part completely free of charge (despite several more hours of labour being involved). They told me exactly what I needed so I had confidence ordering the part online for them - again, which took a bit of time to reach my door.

Despite how busy they were over Christmas, they managed to squeeze this in right before New Year, and they were extremely efficient. They kept me updated every step of the way until the issue was resolved!

If you're looking for a workshop that's genuine, honest, and does everything in your interest, MyCar Garden City does actually care about their customers. If something goes wrong, they do everything right by you to help you out right from start to finish.

It was a good experience overall. I should note that I told them to take as long as they needed, and they kindly provided free parking. That said, I did end up waiting about six hours for my car to be serviced. The staff were very professional throughout, and I will definitely return for my next service.
