We recently moved home and used Neilson Solicitors & Estate Agents, and I honestly cannot recommend them highly enough. From start to finish, the whole team was absolutely amazing.

Moving home can be such a stressful experience, but they made everything feel so much more manageable. Their communication was excellent throughout, keeping us updated at every stage and always taking the time to explain things clearly. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and we truly felt supported the entire way through the process.

Their professionalism, dedication, and attention to detail really stood out. It was clear how much time and effort they put into making sure everything went smoothly for us. We’re so grateful for all their hard work, patience, and reassurance during what could have been a very overwhelming time.

What started off well with the sales team putting property on the market swiftly and great communication with Siobhan, quickly turned into absolutely appalling service from Anne.
No replies to several emails, no documentation and indeed still waiting for some items, incorrect fees asked for on a Saturday night expecting an extra £10k to complete immediately, when I fact that’s what they were due me. Sale didn’t complete on time despite having months notice. Still being asked for proof of amends to kitchen the day of completion despite being provided three months earlier.

To top it off a formal complaint has gone in which hasn’t been acknowledged. Tomorrow we go to the independent bureau to lodge a formal complaint with them.

Would never ever use again. Maybe a different solicitor but not this particular one

Kirsten made the experience of buying a home in Scotland from Dubai really easy and painless. She guided us through the process and removed all the unnecessary obstacles. She is methodical in her approach and kept us informed every step of the way.

I have used Neilsons twice, first to purchase a flat and later to sell it, and both experiences were handled with a high level of professionalism. The team were efficient, well organised, and maintained clear communication throughout each stage of the process.

Their attention to detail was evident, ensuring everything was completed accurately and on time. I felt well informed at every step, and any queries I had were dealt with promptly and thoroughly. Kirsten, in particular, was excellent, very attentive in resolving my questions and always reassuring, which made the process much easier.

Kirsten was very knowledgeable about the local housing market and kept me updated throughout my house sale. Excellent service all round and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her in particular and Neilsons.

Kirsten was great. Always happy to chat for as long as it took to resolve my questions. And often helped me with things that were not really in her remit.
Sadly I felt others in the process didn’t have her dedication hence not being able to give a higher rating!

Fantastic service from Kirsten. She is an excellent communicator and was very quick in returning my phone calls.

I've used Neisons for years for buying, selling & winding up of an estate, the service & communication I've received on all occasions has been excellent . All the staff are very friendly & helpful and give good honest advice , I usually ask for David Easton head of sales a pleasure to deal with & Kirsten Olverman during sales transactions she has excellent skills in negotiations . I highly recommend them 👌

I would not hesitate to recommend Neilsons if you are considering selling your home. We used them for the recent sale and purchase of our flat in Edinburgh.
The Estate Agency team are amazing, the marketing materials and strategy that Amy put together were second to none. Everyone that we dealt with in this department were exceptional. I need to make a special mention of Kirsten our sales negotiator who is exceptional at her job and was an absolute pleasure to work with.
We were then passed to the conveyancing team, who had a pretty high bar after such a fantastic experience already. But Dave, Diane and Emily were more than up to the task! It ended up being a less than straight forward and slightly complicated sale, but Dave and co kept me informed the entire way, worked tirelessly and pushed it all to completion. I would not hesitate to recommend Neilsons and am so happy that we chose to go with them. Thanks for all your hard work and for making a daunting experience so much more enjoyable!

We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience selling our first home with Neilsons from Lewis and Kirsten. From start to finish, the service was outstanding.

Lewis Hunter, our valuer, was professional, approachable, and incredibly knowledgeable about the market. He explained the process clearly, provided a detailed and accurate valuation, and gave us real confidence in the decisions we were making which meant so much as first-time sellers. His friendly manner made everything stress-free, and the brochures he prepared showcased our home beautifully.

We were equally impressed with our sales negotiator, Kirsten. She guided us through every stage with clarity, confidence, and such a personal touch. At times she felt more like a friend than a negotiator always at the end of the phone, no matter how small the query, and consistently making us feel like we were her only clients. Knowing we had Kirsten on our side made the whole experience so much easier and even enjoyable!

A special thanks also to Maureen in the Property Booking Team, who managed our viewings seamlessly around our full-time jobs. The Neilsons client portal was brilliant too, keeping everything from home reports to viewings clear and easy to track.

Overall, we couldn’t be more grateful to the team at Neilsons. Professional, reliable, and genuinely caring. Highly recommended to anyone selling their home!

Neilsons have been absolutley superb dealing wtih the sale of my property. The advice on staging for sale was excellent, and they even recommended trades to get some jobs done. Their photos and marketing materials are superb, much better than some of their competitors who we had considered using. Everyone we've dealt with has been so friendly and helpful and we got an amazing price at the closing date after just 11 days on the market. They are efficent, professional and a pleasure to deal with. Would 100% recommend and certainly will use them again in the future.

Our sales negotiator and all members of staff were very professional and kind at all times. Every process was made clear by regular emails and phone calls and always a friendly voice at the other end of the phone guiding us through the highs and lows of house buying! I cannot thank them enough for a successful conclusion.

Very poor communication, miscalculation of due taxes, not paying Revenue Scotland within the 30 day period resulting in Revenue Scotland sending us penalty notice and fine. Just some of the issues.
Others have had similar issues and interestingly the negative reviews are mostly recent. Has something gone very wrong with this company in past few months?
I would never use again

The sales team at the Corstorphine branch were incredibly helpful and informative, as were all the staff I dealt with in the office.
The receptionist at the front desk also was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.
Unfortunately the conveyancing side of things was a much different story.
If you want the stress and cost of having to engage your lawyer and solicitor, plus checking and for the many mistakes they made, and trying to get them to communicate and keep you informed of delays and updates, then these are the guys for you.
I believe they had to sack the head of conveyancing around May of 2025, which caused problems.
The current head means well, but his 40 years of experience still led to major mistakes and nothing short of incompetence.
I travelled from Australia to Corstorphine to deal with these issues as I was selling my late father's house on Drumbrae South.
Even at settlement the money from the sale was sent to my own excellent legal team at Glenorchy House to sort out was wrong. They transferred to much money to my own solicitor, then didn't answer her emails. They had to contact another person at Neilsons they had dealt with before to sort it out. As too much money doesn't balance the books, this added yet another 3 weeks delay to a simple sale.
The original sale was supposed to be settled on the 20th of June 2025. It was the 30th of July 2025 when it was signed off by both solicitors, then four more weeks of delays due to the transfer of funds being incorrect.
Yes, people make mistakes, but this many.
I also have a paralegal cousin help me wade through the documentation and advise me on the best course of action.
This was not a good experience for me or my family to deal with.
I would give sales 10/10, but the conveyancing team let the rest of the team down very badly.

I wouldn’t use them. They got the figures wrong for conveyancing and are now demanding more money for their mistake after completion.
