Breach of guest confidentiality âOne & Only Saint Géran SPA!
I was a guest in the One & Only Saint Géran (Mauritius) SPA 3 times this October and November 2022.
I had booked my appointments with the O&O SPA, the replies came from an O&O email, I had the treatments in the O&O SPA, and the staff all wore O&O uniforms.
It became obvious that a version of our SPA treatment room conversation had been shared with staff outside the treatment room by the therapistsâ âUâ and âA.â The SPA Manager had taken it upon herself to further relay parts of treatment room conversations to an O&O supplier in another country, unbeknown to me.
I mention this: I am twice the age of the therapists, I come from the EU, English is not our first language, we do not share culture or religion either. There is room for misunderstandings.
Even more alarming, the SPA Manager at the O&O SPA Saint Géran shared my personal details with a business in France (EU). Name, e-mail etc.
The SPA Manager NEVER bothered to reach out to me. We have never met. I have never had a conversation with her. She never asked me to provide any feedback on the treatments.
The Head of Global Operations from the French company contacted me with questions relating to my visits to a country outside Mauritius. He commented on the âinformationâ provided by no less than three members of the O&O SPA.
I certainly did not consent to anyone sharing either my conversations or my personal details.
I do find the sharing of conversations by therapistsâ very alarming. A SPA treatment is always a confidential guest â staff relationship
One does not expect any luxury â or other hotels - to share ANY details on their guests.
The privacy of EU nationals is protected under the GDPR Law, General Data Protection Regulation.
I have reported the French company to the appropriate offices for them to be fined for this breach of confidentiality, and for the use of a personâs details without permission and consent. I prioritise my ID safety.
In hotels and hospitality industries confidentiality is taken for granted! Mutual trust is key.
I took this matter to the General Manager with the O&O. He sent a most unprofessional reply. He tried to justify the above procedure, claiming the SPA Manager was furnishing the supplier with feedback.
That is a LIE! In the mail from the French company, they ask me to provide feedback before going on to asking questions about matters that have nothing whatsoever to do with my visits to the O&O SPA in Mauritius.
The GM writes me: âAs part of her duties, the manager reports all operational matters to her boss including guestsâ feedback.â
THIS IS A LIE! She received NO feedback from me. The Head of Global Operations in the French business is asking me for feedback, but his primary focus is NOT on matters relating to the O&O SPA I visited.
I find it alarming that a GM at a hotel, communicates nonsense, lies, and then tries to justify this serious breach of confidentiality.
A well know tennis player was tennis pro at the O&O hotel according to promotional material. During my treatment, therapist âUâ claimed she had treated the tennis pro, providing details which I found to be highly unprofessional and felt uncomfortable about hearing.
At the tennis courts, I met a staff member who informed me that the said tennis pro had cancelled her visit to the hotel.
I am not sure, who is right. I do find it very questionable that the hotel has staff members gossiping. In addition, they have a highly unprofessional GM, who tries to justify this nonsense. He offered me products on behalf of the French company, suggesting I should not report the French company for breach of the GDPR Law. That is called BLACKMAIL.
I am not a prostitute! I do report such matters. Businesses must adhere to the laws, especially laws that serve to protect the consumers.
Hospitality staff must always practice confidentiality. The management must ensure that all staff members always respect the privacy of their guests.
I do not think this GM is a person to be giving advice to guests. I can honestly say that our individual sense of values, respect, and manners, is far apart.
Stay away from One & Only Saint Géran, Mauritius, if you want privacy, professional management, and if you want to avoid gossip as well as the sharing of your personal details.
I have all the e-mail documentation to prove that ALL the above has transpired, I am afraid.
