50% import tax not mentioned during checkout
Purchased 2 pairs of padel shoes for £196 including "free" delivery to the UK.
No mention that the shoes were being imported from Spain during the checkout process or during delivery of the item.
1 month later I receive an invoice from FedEx for £93.11
I tried disputing this with FedEx by they told me:
"The shipper has opted to use a service where shipments are not held for clearance instructions and prepayment. The shipper has opted for FedEx to clear the shipment and function as your broker. FedEx would therefore, clear the shipment with HM Revenue & Customs on your behalf. Any import duty or VAT due, FedEx pays to HM Revenue & Customs so that the goods can be released for delivery and subsequently seeks reimbursement of the charges paid out."
If you live in thr UK, avoid using this site.
If you do then expect a 50% upcharge that is not mentioned during checkout or even delivery.

We would like to clarify how our pricing works for UK customers. On our website, the prices shown for customers outside the European Economic Area (including the UK) already have VAT deducted. This means you benefit from a lower purchase price at checkout, but import taxes (VAT and any applicable duties) are then collected by your country's customs authority upon arrival.
This information is displayed in three places before completing a purchase:
1. Just below the product price on each product page, where it states that taxes and customs duties are not included for UK deliveries.
2. At checkout, under the shipping conditions, before confirming your payment.
3. In our shipping policy, which is accessible at any time from our website.
We understand that if this detail was missed during the purchase, it can lead to a disappointing experience, and we are truly sorry for that. We are always working to make this information as visible as possible.

Los envíos internacionales, especialmente fuera de la Unión Europea, conllevan tarifas considerablemente más altas debido a los costes de transporte, aduanas y gestión logística que aplican los transportistas.
