Two faced and stupid
So I made the big mistake of trying to adopt from this "rescue" I was going to take on a blind lad, after having over ten years of exp with blind dogs and how to care for them.
I made the mistake of trying to adopt from this place, first person I spoke with was ok,but then it all went downhill, first and the most ridiculous thing, they want to charge £20 to do a home check for which I did all the work,no other rescue I've ever used has done this, but ok.
I sent photos and short videos,I many years back converted and fenced off half my kitchen for my other blind dogs, as a place of safety and retreat for them,I have a small bedroom which,if they ever wanted they can come and stay on the double bed, along with a reasonable sized, fenced off garden.
After waiting for yet another person to come back to me,who never did! this joke of a place made the poorest excuse ever,I never had enough room!! ermm I have a big area of my kitchen fenced off,as well as the frontroom, sohow they can justify this is beyond anyones intelligence, now this is wherethey show their trueside.
After I had a go at them as their excuse really angered me,I found they had a personal go at me on their fb page! showing how really nasty and unfriendly they really are, just shows that they have no care for the animals and have just cost a blind dog a loving home.
Avoid this joke of a "rescue" they are nasty, unfeeling, uncaring and very low in the intellegence dept, this is the reason why people don't go to rescue anymore, this place gives a bad name to the few remaining places that do truly care.

5* - amazing as long as you are willing to put the work in!
We rescued our dog Frankie from PPTF in Feb 2026 when he was 7 months old - our first dog as a couple and both of our first Romanian rescue. He was transported from the shelter in Romania to straight to our home, and the driver brought him inside and placed him in the safe place weâd sent up in our living room.
A few days after applying, we were allocated to admin Martine who was so helpful and friendly - not only did she provide us with all the information we needed and took us through the process, it really felt like she genuinely wanted us to succeed in our application and find the right dog. The home checker was similarly helpful and friendly, as well as providing us with lots of information and what to expect.
Some people say the homecheck/application questions are too intrusive, but given the amount of dogs that are returned for ridiculous reasons and the hardships/needs of some of these dogs, I think they are 100% right to thoroughly vet anyone wanting to adopt/foster a dog. Adopting/fostering a Romanian rescue can be difficult and you need to put in the work. Many wonât be house trained, may be destructive or have separation anxiety or other difficult behaviours - but they are also loving, loyal, and its so rewarding to see them improve and their personalities come out with time, trust, and confidence. Itâs also so worth it to give a safe, loving home to a dog who really needs it. The rescue team care so deeply for all of the dogs in their care, itâs only right they make sure any prospective adopters/fosterers meet the requirements to give the dogs the best chance possible.
Some people also complain about the adoption fee, however the rescue explain on their Facebook that this barely covers the costs of vaccinations/travel requirements, neutering etc, and they explained they make no money from the adoption fees. While I understand this is a lot of money for some people, if you can afford it, itâs completely worth it in my opinion. They also have dogs available for adoption by donation (min £50), and there is no fee for fostering.
We found the application/homecheck process and adoption fee to all be completely reasonable and were more than happy to proceed.
Without PPTF we wouldnât have our lovely boy Frankie who has settled in amazingly considering his age and where heâs come from - which I believe is due to the thorough homecheck process, us being matched to a dog that suited our home/lifestyle, and the fact we followed the in depth guidance we were given by the team.
When we are in a position to take on a 2nd dog, we 100% plan to do this through PPTF again!
My honest experience
Apologies- this is long- but its also honest.
This is a fair warning to anyone thinking of rehoming an animal through this charity- if you or your loved ones have disabilities or differences- think twice before mentioning details of them as they may use them against you to turn you down- even if they have no relevance to your suitability to adopt.
Also, be aware that children are expected to be part of the vetting process from day one- even if there are initial compatibility worries around them- potentially leading to upset.
The volunteers I spoke to were genuinely helpful and lovely. When working with them, they informed us they felt we were a good fit- in fact one said they'd be recommending us for approval and was genuinely shocked we were rejected. Unfortunately, it was others who had never spoken with my family who made the final decision.
Our home conditions were not an issue- we have ample space, experience, time and love... however my children have disabilities that they felt were incompatible with our desire to adopt. My adult son has tourettes (so he will occasionally tic loudly- but has NEVER hurt anybody) My daughter has ASD related emetaphobia- severe sickness phobia. I requested a dog that is not known to frequently suffer severely with sickness or an extremely timid, anxious animal.
I understand animals will all be anxious and be sick at some point- just like people, its a fact of life- but my daughter's phobia- directly linked to her autistic profile- apparently meant we were unsuitable? I was genuinely shocked. My children's needs are significant but when faced with challenges we deal with them... the judgement, assumptions made and plain ignorance surrounding the decision astound me. I never said a dog that's never going to be nervous! I said a timid or severely anxious dog may be frightened by a sudden tic so we would be better suited to a more confident dog- the reward for my honestly? I was refused the chance to adopt or foster ANY dog.
The people making these decisions should educate themselves on neurodivergence before using these presentations as a reason for refusal. No dog would ever be homed on the basis of hundreds of 'what if?' Scenarios, they're not helpful.
Animals will spend longer in kennels because loving families are dismissed as unsuitable for ridiculous reasons. We've had dogs for many, many years and our neurodivergences have NEVER impacted our ability to offer a loving home to an animal.
Judgemental, discriminatory and wrong.
I appreciate there needs to be a vetting process and it needs to be thorough- it's the very least these animals deserve and we spent a long time going through the process- answering the same irrelevant questions multiple times to different people but completely understand the need to be meticulous, yet the reasons given for rejection were never clarified. Had we'd been unsuccessful due to a legitimate reason, whilst we would have been disappointed, we would have accepted it much easier. The fact it's based on assumptions made by people who didn't even have the courtesy to have a conversation to clarify important issues (important enough to reject the application)are deeply upsetting.
Autism and Tourettes are recognised disabilities under multiple legislative protections and as such they are protected characteristics making their decision- based on these unrelated conditions- discriminatory.
Had i known their attitude towards disabilities i would have avoided this charity- if you're in a similar situation then think twice to save yourself the potential heartache.
I know they'll likely respond- they tend to, to negative reviews. I have no doubt they'll try to justify their decision, they may even embellish it, i have receipts so I'm not concerned about that.
I'm not leaving this review for the charity. I'm leaving an honest and open review to anyone who may be in a similar position to give them fair warning.
I'm not trying to stir things up, i know many others are happy with the service provided to them and have left reviews stating as much (many after a direct FB promlt to do so.) Genuinely, im pleased so many dogs have been afforded their happy ending.
Just be mindful... weigh everything up before making the application. I hope the dogs all find loving homes. Sadly I feel the process in deciding who is deemed worthy of adopting an animal via this charity are flawed and accountability is important
Iâm fostering for pawprints and theyâŠ
Iâm fostering for pawprints and they have been amazing from start to finish the amazing support and help on hand is great and the updates about the dog leaving Romanian I honestly canât fault them I would highly recommend they have the dogs best interests at heart
Brilliant Rescue

wonderful rescueâŠ
I have followed this wonderful rescue for many months and the dedication, commitment and compassion they have for the street dogs they rescue is like no other. In a country where there is no animal welfare they give hope to the dogs and manage to get hundreds of them fostered or adopted. This rescue is invaluable as the government clearly don't careðâ¥ïžð
Luka my beautiful street dog
Adopted Luka the most amazing beautiful street dog ever, Pawprints supportive and informative throughout the process would highly recommend if your thinking of fostering or adopting
Romanian Rescue Dog - I adopted my wee dog from paw prints toâŠ
I adopted my wee dog from paw prints to freedom 4yrs ago, she is an amazing dog. I'm writing this review to praise everyone who works so hard at paw prints to freedom, for every single dog they have. They make the dogs health, future forever home and the people who adopt the dogs are the right fit for each other. Home inspections are done to ensure it is the right home for the dogs to be. The people who work here have an up hill battle every day but they still provide first class care for their dogs. Was a fantastic day when my Zoe arrived on the paw prints to freedom happy bus. I would highly recommend paw prints if Ur serious about adopting a dog. If I could give more than 5 stars I would
We got our rescue 2 years ago from thisâŠ
We got our rescue 2 years ago from this amazing rescue. The checks are in depth and as a result, may take longer than another rescue to get your dog, but this is because the dogs are the number one priority as they should be. Many of the dogs are street dogs and some have suffered trauma. The support and guidance you get from them is huge and in the end youâll be proud as punch when you end up with a confident and loved dog. This takes time and effort but it is worth every bit of it.
I have had my first foster dog throughâŠ
I have had my first foster dog through pawprints2freedom. She was only 7 months old when she arrived. I had a room separate from the living space and I can see why this is so important. This scared little pup took 3 days before she felt safe enough to come out of her crate and another 4 days before she would come out of the dining room. She is now a happy pup that loves to spend time with the family and my dogs. She only took 2 weeks to house train, she's learnt to walk on a lead and has now found her forever home
I will definitely be fostering again
Experience of a difficult household
The team are super helpful and caring. Yes they are thorough but if you are willing to make changes and improvements then you will get the perfect dog â€ïž It took us a few months as we had to wait due to us having 4 house rabbits so getting a dog who could be managed with these was important, even though we had previous dogs with reactivity and health issues. They do lots of testing for the dogs to get the right personality to match and can cat and child test. We got ours rabbit tested as they were in foster who took them to Pets at Home. They have provided continuous support after adoption too and given advice on training and behaviour.
The dogs are more likely to be nervous or have behavioural quirks so it takes a little more time but seeing them blossom is well worth it ðž
I cannot praise this amazing rescueâŠ
I cannot praise this amazing rescue enough, iv recently rescued one of their dogs. The whole process and home check was so easy and relaxed from choosing a dog to suit me. This rescue and the people that run it go above and beyond to help these dogs. They were always available when I had any questions or queries, keep up the fabulous work x
Amazing charity who go above and beyond for these poor dogs
We have just adopted a 6 yr old dog from this charity after fostering for a few weeks, found them to be honest and friendly, full disclosure given about the dogs history, virtual home check but very thorough, they provide rescue back up so are there to help with any problems in the future, our dog came from their Essex kennels so not directly from Romania but she has been in shelters all her life and never had a home before,it is run by volunteers who do a marvellous job for these dogs special mention to our admin Tegan,Aisling and Jess from the kennels who have been so kind and supportive we are finding it very rewarding seeing her build in confidence Thanks to all at Pawprints Sharon,John,Glimmer and Eileen
Iâm a failed foster parent proud toâŠ
Iâm a failed foster parent proud to admit it! Iâm adopting her after a couple of weeks fostering the sweetest little girl ever.
PP2F have been amazing. I was given so much information along the way. I donât have a huge 6ft fence but they worked around it . She was brought over and as I was away she went to another foster family for 2 days so I could get her. Added me to a WhatsApp group for questions and support and general admiring of my girl.
She has the most beautiful temperament and loved by everyone. Definitely recommend this charity
Our rescue dog experience
We rescued a beautiful soft soul from this charity and have had lots of support throughout the adoption process. When we went to visit Patch you could tell straight away how adored he was by the kennel staff and the volunteers and how much effort they put into looking after all the animals there. We have regular check ins and ongoing support which has felt really reassuring as this is our first dog! We wouldn't hesitate recommending PPTF to anyone, thanks so much for all your help.
Went through a thorough home check andâŠ
Went through a thorough home check and they made sure the dog I chose was a perfect fit for me, my family and my resident dog. My rescue has settled in amazingly well all due to PPTF advice and support.
I have just adopted my second dogâŠ
I have just adopted my second dog through Pawprints to Freedom. They are my first choice in rescue after I got my first dog 2 years ago. The process is very thorough and this can take time but please don't be put off. This is to ensure the dogs go to the right home and all the admins are doing their very best. They're a lovely bunch.
My first dog was from the Nantwich kennels and we quickly discovered was fearful reactive to both unknown people and dogs. We've been working on this with a behaviourist and he's doing so well. At home he's the cuddliest most loving little boy and my life has changed for the better since having him in it. He's not an easy to dog to have, we've learnt so much from him but I wouldn't change him for the world. He just needs love and patience.
We've only had our second dog for a couple of days, from the Essex kennels, but she is everything as described and more. Settling in very quickly, a total goofball and complete love bug. She's a perfect fit for us and with a bit of time and love she's going to blossom â€ïž
These dogs really are something special and this rescue is amazing for keeping them safe and finding them a loving home to go to. I would highly recommend this charity. Please give these dogs a chance ð«¶
Pawprints are a great charity to adoptâŠ
Pawprints are a great charity to adopt with. They are extremely thorough throughout the process which is reassuring knowing that they want their dogs to go to the correct homes, they clearly care very much about the dogs they look after. I have nothing but good things to say about them. They are very responsive during the transport process and we are just over the moon with our new addition, Oscar. We would also like to give Anne, our admin, a mention. She has been incredible throughout and has really helped us throughout this journey.
Great charity, dedicated volunteers
Great charity, with very dedicated volunteers who obviously love the dogs they care for. The trips to Romania are very challenging where they want to rescue every dog which is not always possible. They always do their best for the dogs, they are so dedicated. The vetting process is thorough which is how it should be. Please don't say you want a dog if you are not prepared to put in the time to support your rescue. All the dogs want is to be loved and given a change. We love our rescue Zarby.
Welfare, kindness and love is their priority
Excellent, process I have two dogs from this charity and each time there checks have been conducted professionally, as it had been over two years since my first check had been done I was asked to do it again. Fair enough on the second time around I was asked to provide a video of upstairs, to which I naturally inquired why? They were more then happy to answer the question, and from the answer I was given, I was more then happy to oblige.
If your serious about rescuing a vulnerable animal you will be more then happy to oblige with the information
The volunteers aren't there to judge your life style, how you chose to live, they just want to ensure the animals welfare is being maintained and is going to be safe in the home.
The volunteers think of these animals as there own and want the best possible outcome for the animals, who alot of the animals have already endured cruelty at the hands of humans.
This charity is amazing in what they do I have personal fostered and adopted from them and will continue to do so in the future.
Great job you all do keep it up X X
