The Agent reviews on this website are "Manipulated"

I tried to put up a negative review/rating on an agent from whom I purchased a property and it wasnt published. But when you look at the ratings you see agents with nothing but 5 star ratings. Some have well over one hundred 5 star ratings. No 4 or 3 star ratings. None! Its simply impossible. The only answer is that realestate.com.au doesn't publish real estate agent ratings that not 5 star. So thats not being truthful. What a con job! In fact the whole industry is a con job.

We can't thank Madj Jerjees

We can't thank Madj Jerjees, from Melrose Estate Agents in Ryde, for his efficiency and dedication in selling our family home, last month. He had been visiting us for a few years on and off, letting us know that he would love to be involved in a sale when we were ready to sell. He got involved with my solicitor (who was also doing the legal work for my moving into a retirement village) and everyone just worked together. A sale went through within 3 weeks.

Inaccurate advertising

I have emailed this site to advise that they had made a mistake with the listing of our property which was undervalued and incorrectly advertised as 2 bedroom instead of 3 with old images of the house. No response to my requests has been received.

Incorrect reporting of "contract/offer" status of properties

The only issue I have is with R/E agents who continue to list properties which are either under contract or under offer without indicating on the website that this is the case. One of the search filters offered by realestate.com.au is "Exclude properties under contract/offer". However, this filter becomes useless if/when agents don't indicate that the property is under contract/offer. One reason offered by an agent was that if the offer/contract falls over, they can contact buyers whose details they have obtained (dare I say) fraudulently by not properly disclosing at what point the property is during the sale process. I would call BS on this reason as it seems to me that it is just another surreptitious method to gather details of unsuspecting prospective buyers. realestate.com.au needs to police this issue.

Rental Profiles:

Rental Profiles:
Back in the day you used to hand over all your forms, ledgers, records of being a good tenant to the real estate agent. Now they want you to use this. Your profile tells the agents and landlords absolutely nothing about how good you are as a tenant, if you pay on time etc, your references. You're thrown on the pile with 500 other applicants and its basically luck of the draw. Being on time with rent for 11 years and no issues means nothing, you just gotta get in first now. Your profile basically gives no information whatsoever, useless.

Vincent John (Barry Plant- Geelong). True service.

Vincent John (Barry Plant, Geelong) was very much an unknown quantity (and quality) to me and after having bought and sold some 8 houses over the last 40 years, both in Victoria and The Northern Territory (as well as overseas too) I was obviously wary.
However when we met, he was polite, well informed and knew the market and its intricacies well-this threw me back!
His strategy is to be marvelled at; not something I would normally say about a Real Estate Agent!
He gently guides, suggests, listens and acts in the vendor's favour; besides this he actually keeps one up to date and does not have to be chased.
If you want to know something, he will tell you in all honesty and not just to please you.
In all my years of house purchasing I can think of only one other agent who comes relatively close to him, note relatively.

Valuation scam to make you sell

Our property was valued at 2.4 million on the 25th of November 2025 (still have the screenshot) which obviously was important in our decision to sell. Once we listed the property, the valuation disappeared on realestate.com, but their other valuation site property.com.au (owned by same group and displaying exact same valuations) quickly dropped our valuation to 2.08 million! A 360.000 difference! All this when the number of bath and bedrooms actually went up since we did some renovations. They obviously inflate value estimates to make people sell, drop them to make people buy so that they then can inflate them again afterwards and encourage people to sell quicker after buying. A golden tactic since their revenue comes from sales listings but extremely unethical.

We are currently looking for a home for near future investment/retirement

We are currently looking for a home for the near future and trying to use the site to get an idea of what is available and what prices are good for each suburb. Unfortunately, over the last 6 months, the site keeps locking us out with a code error that indicates we've visited the site too often and clicked too many times. Isn't that what the site is meant to get us to do?!? Isn't that the whole purpose? Contacted them and they tried to blame our computer........funny how it never, ever happens on Domain. Poor customer service, unfriendly attitude and a site that isn't accommodating it's intended purpose.

I am a home owner currently selling

I am a home owner currently selling. My property is a xxx and xxxA type propwety. When it is created correctly, it does not show on the map. For example, unless ypu specifically sear h for my suburb it will not show. Ypu cam search for the postcode, or nearby suburbs and my homw wont show. I contacted RE.COM.AU but was told the REA has to contact. They finally did and we got a one word response - to continue listing as xxx and xxxA. What?!? And miss out on views? I am appalled at the blaise response. I have the account managers name and will be making a larger conplaint through other channels.
The sad thing is i relised this, and had the REA change it to xxx only. And we have TRIPLED traffic since. Imagine that!
Disgusting.

Properties in our Apartment Block…

Properties in our Apartment Block, similar, if not as renovated, as our apartment, have been selling for 1-1.4 million AUD, yet this website, has continually been 40 percent under other valuation sites. We have tried to show evidence of this, showing similar apartments in the building. The site even had the sales statistics for the opposite hotel ( Oaks Mon Komo ) room ( obviously much smaller as it’s a hotel room ) , initially showing 3-4 individual sales, even though we are the sole owners. They managed to rectify this by amending the street address from 99 to 101 Marine Parade after several emails. Go to Core Logic etc, and rates concur with the above true values (1 mill plus ). Real Estate dot com is not only inaccurate, but misleading. Their point of contact for amending inaccurate data is almost non existent.

Abusing their market position

This greedy, unethical company is running a huge scam on the Australian people with their predatory pricing practices, and I hope that the ACCC investigation results in severe penalties for them.

I was quoted almost $6,000 to list a $500k unit on their website.

I would rather sell off-market or list on other websites that have less traffic, than to submit to this predatory company's price gouging.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

To be blunt

Honest, helpful and constructive criticism instead of the very Australian approach I'd prefer to take at this point. Got it.

Ok, this used to be a decent site with problems, but now it's unusable.

Every search you make is full of rooming houses and car parks. This one comes with a magic invisible balcony and tennis court! This one has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom! All in one, single, bare parking space? What a deal! However you try and exclude them using the very limited options available they just post with those options selected. The recommendation is to copy the urls and report them. Not only does that not do anything but it also wastes tons of the users time as this is pervasive issue.

This should be an easy fix for the site runner. Exclude certain phrases like 'car park', 'parking spot', 'rooming house', 'shared accommodation' and 'room available'. Ban agencies that skirt around them.

I was so frustrated trying to find a place to live on this site I went off and looked into who owns it. It's owned by News corp. Rupert Murdoch.

They have an in-house team with staff responsible for specific aspects of the website including development, design and data management. In other words, there are people paid to do the job I've been told users should do.

Where's my paycheck?

If anyone in a leadership position is reading this, those teams are not doing their jobs. This website has had an issue with search for years it has failed to address, and the issue now is that it's ballooned out of control with the rental crisis increasing shared accommodation.

Have a category for that and enforce it if you want the clicks. If you don't want them, get rid of the listings. And for the sake of all that is sane don't place the responsibility for that on your users instead of the staff you hired specifically to do that job.

When I spoke to staff they said "it's a big site and we can't monitor every post". Monitoring every post is not necessary. Keywords. Filters. Blocking. Banning. This is the Internet in 2024. These are all standard. People have done all the work for you. You just have to implement it.

If your staff are not going to do their jobs fire them and bring in people who will.

If you are too old to keep up with how the Internet works in 2024, hire someone who can keep up.

Fix it before someone realizes what's happened to your site and takes advantage of it.

They refuse to speak with the paying…

They refuse to speak with the paying customer. Only the agent, which is a joke. The customer is spending the money. They stone wall all enquiries. They write over their emails and voice messages, we offer exceptional customer service, and yet you request to speak with a Manager and they blatantly refuse. They say on their emails, we will always treat you with kindness and respect and ask that you do the same. Ha! You cannot speak with a single Manager. They deserve to lose their monopoly in the market. Let's hope they do !

Lazy and incompetent

This company is clearly very lazy and incompetent. They sent out a request for a reference by email. But instead of sending it to the right person, they sent it to me, a random person on the other side of the world. I kindly emailed their customer service to tell them of their mistake and they... shrugged. Not their problem. And just sent a reminder that I needed to give the reference!!

Whoever they are, they're clearly total drongos.
