Incomplete, below expectations very short for the cost

Our expectations where fair but the performance and duration was below expectations. After barely annhour it was done. A total of 7 musician's. Thengrand piano was very loud, canceling the performance of the violins.
Also the chairs where uncomfortable, even though we had front row tickets.

The program was never communicated. So you are not aware that the performance would only take one hour.

I would not recommend - considering the commercial implication and the give ln Programm.

The Best Live Concert I’ve Seen In Some Time

I recently attended Hayao Miyazaki's Dreams event at St. Peter’s Church in Bournemouth, I have to say it’s one of the best live concerts I’ve seen in many years! Having been a long time follower of Hayao Miyazaki, the opportunity to hear his music live was too good to pass up. We immediately purchased VIP tickets and I have to say we were treated to a truly special experience, all the musicians were brilliant and you could see the joy on their faces while they played.

St. Peter’s Church was a perfect venue, beautiful inside and excellently lit, the staff were lovely and welcoming too.

Thank you so much for bringing a wonderful, meaningful moment to an otherwise uncertain world, you have made my year and it’s only April!

Interstellar: Hans Zimmer tribute - SCAM

Went to Interstellar: Tribute to Hans Zimmer event on 11 April at the Chester Cathedral.

Where do I begin? The promotional material clearly said the Interstellar pieces will be accompanied by the Chester Cathedral grand organ, only there to be an ELECTRIC PIANO instead.

Instead of sticking to the published tracklist, the Mystery Ensemble played 3 Interstellar pieces (played very poorly as well) and then moved on to playing Pirates of the Caribbean, Madagascar etc. Absolute scam.

The performance itself felt like I was 16 again, having a jam session with my mates - absolute amateur hour.

Left part way through. AVOID AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Phenomenal experience. Truly talented musicians.

An absolutely beautiful evening of Studio Ghibli film music in York. I seldom write reviews but I was blown away so much I thought it was deserving of a written review!! The ensemble as a whole was truly excellent.

The standout for me however was the first violinist in particular, who was simply phenomenal. As a professional musician myself, I thought her playing was technically flawless, with incredible control, clean intonation, and effortless handling of even the most demanding passages. What really impressed me was how natural it all felt, nothing felt forced, just total command of the instrument paired with genuine musicality.

She carried so much of the emotion of the performance and elevated an already brilliant ensemble.

Truly outstanding. I look forward to hearing them all again!

School concert vibes

Attended the Mystery ensemble performance of what was described as Interstellar: tribute to Hans Zimmer, the tickets were nearly £30 each, the group was far too small, quiet & lacklustre for the venue of Chester Cathedral, we we're only midway back on the rows & it was so quiet, you could hear every chair squeak over the music, everyone looked bored, it was very mediocre, it felt like going to a school concert, that you would only enjoy if your child was playing. We left halfway, such a disappointment.

Wish I could go back to experience it again

I went to see Hayao Miyazaki's Dreams and while it was my first concert experience, Mystery Ensemble did not disappoint.

Their renditions of Joe Hisaishi's pieces were an absolute delight to listen to and struck a chord within me. It is definitely a core memory and an unforgettable experience.

Everyone in the room seemed to really enjoy it and Mystery Ensemble set a really beautiful atmosphere. I hope they come back to Bournemouth I'm sure many people would love to listen again.

Better marketers than musicians

I've just got back from the Mystery Ensemble's performance of Howard Shore's music from the Lord of the Rings at Stoke Minster. This was marketed very professionally and cost £35 per ticket. Unfortunately the musicians were very amateurish. There were tuning issues throughout, numerous mistakes, a lack of dynamics and the performance was very stilted, with the commentary between pieces frankly woeful.

Having looked into the "Mystery Ensemble" since getting home, it appears different musicians are used at each event, which explains why it felt cobbled together and why it lacked any real energy. I wonder how much these musicians had actually rehearsed together. I feel a bit scammed to be honest. This would have been passable for a school performance and had I paid £5 I would have been happy, but the quality of musicianship was severely lacking at this price point.

Wat een tegenvaller!

Op vrijdag 13 februari naar Amsterdam vertrokken vol goede moed. Tim Burtons filmmuziek, je verwacht iets magisch, iets groots, een show. Dan komen er 5 of 6 'artiesten' op die een uur lang liedjes spelen. Wanneer we het idee kregen dat het mogelijk wat opzwepender zou worden, was t nummer afgelopen en na 1 uur was de hele show voorbij. Bij bijna iedereen in de zaal was verbazing, was dit het echt.
Nee, nooit meer. Wat een ontzettende tegenvaller! Gelukkig was mijn eigen gezelschap fijn en hebben we er 'later' om gelachen.

Oversold events and bad customer service

I attended the “Tribute to Howard Shore” concert at Durham Cathedral on 13 March 2026 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.

We purchased three Zone A tickets (over £36 each) specifically to have a good view of the performance. However, when we arrived, we were told there were no seats available in Zone A. We were left standing for around 15–20 minutes while staff tried to resolve the issue, during which time the concert actually began.

We were eventually seated behind a pillar in what appeared to be a restricted-view area, meaning we could barely see the musicians at all. This was despite paying for premium seating. Please also note, the “orchestra” advertised was 5 string instruments and a piano.

The situation was very poorly handled on the night, and what should have been a special evening was overshadowed by the organisation and seating issues. The volunteers at the cathedral told us they always oversell their events. Someone representing red events dismissed us as we stood waiting as he stated we weren’t VIP and he was “already dealing with someone else”.

Since the event, I have sent two emails to Red Events and received no response. I was also asked to contact them via Instagram but have not received any reply there either.

Overall, this felt like an oversold and poorly organised event, with very poor customer service afterwards. I would not book with this organiser again.

UPDATE:
Following the reply to my review, which states I contacted on a weekend, I would just like to add that I initially emailed Red events on the 15/03/26, and whilst yes this was a Sunday, there has been 7 working days since and I still have not had a response. I sent a second email on 20/03/26 at 11:42 (a working day) which again, I have no received a response to. On the 20th, I also commented on the Instagram to hopefully get a response, to which they replied to my comment on Sunday 22nd and asked me to direct message them, which I did the same day. I left my review yesterday evening 23/03/26 as another working day had passed and I had again heard nothing. I do not appreciate the tone as the company has had ample time to respond to me. I should not have even had to reach out on Instagram (which I did on the Friday and THEY responded on the Sunday).

26/03/26 update:
I have checked my email and spam and am unable to find any correspondence from Red Events. I have only been contacted on Instagram and trust pilot to say I will be contacted. Please advise on the email that has been used to contact me.
