Where do I even begin. Gabe is probably THE MOST patient tutor I’ve ever had. A couple things that make him stand out: he probably knows the AAMC material better than the writers themselves. He puts so much effort into researching CARS literature and getting to know the AAMC style. Seriously, he can recall almost every AAMC cars passage out there at random- it’s a little mind boggling! Because he knows the material and background context so well, he’s able to turn something that’s largely intuitive and reliant on gut reactions (uncomfortable) and present cars trends and tricks in a scientific, logical way (comfortable, for me at least). He really does care about his students and gives this his all. I had 2 prior mcat attempts below med school cut offs and Gabe (in 2 weeks only!) helped me finally cross that line. Forever grateful for all your hard work Gabe! Thank you for everything.

Redwood MCAT helped me a lot for CARS. I raised my score from a 127 (85th percentile) to a 129 (95th percentile), with a 521 overall. Before taking the course, I had exhausted all of the official AAMC CARS questions and other resources available, and I was looking for something new to help me boost my CARS score for my retake. Gabe's videos are extremely detailed and thorough, and listening to him break down passages and work through questions one-by-one helped me a lot in improving my CARS strategies. I highly recommend this course to others!

The CARS Mastery Course was the most helpful resource I had for the CARS section. There are so many different techniques and approaches for the CARS section that it can become overwhelming, but this course helped me focus on what techniques were best for me. Before the course, CARS was the section I struggled on the most. Now, CARS is one of my best sections. I went from 49th percentile to 95th percentile on the real MCAT after this course. My advice for those struggling with CARS is to enroll in this course and really take the time to follow along even when you think that you know how to do something because the simply steps are often easy to forget and overlook on test day. This is what separates the top scores from the mediocre scores, and this course helps you become one of those top scorers!

Gabe worked with me to help me develop a solid strategy for CARS. I really feel like I improved in the CARS section thanks to his advice and test-taking tips. Thanks to Gabe, I saw a dramatic improvement in my performance. Before working with Gabe, I was getting scores around 125, but after working with Gabe, I was able to get a 130 in the MCAT.

I completed 9 sessions with Gabe to prepare for the CARS section of the MCAT. I have previously used Princeton Review and Kaplan and they both were not of much help with improving my practice test scores. Gabe does a great job with breaking down passages and pinpointing your weaknesses in order for you to excel. He is extremely patient and willing to help in any way. Through his course, I was able to improve my accuracy in CARS and understand why I would get particular answers wrong. I also improved my ability to pinpoint key points in each paragraph and questions stems. Gabe does an amazing job of teaching you a unique CARS strategy that significantly improved my scores on the AAMC packets. His videos are extremely helpful and really do a great job with helping you understand the passage through paragraph summaries and the step-by-step question explanations. Although he primarily teaches CARS, he is more than willing to help with other sections of the exam and to provide advice on how to improve your science section scores. I highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to improve on the CARS section. It was a great investment.

This course helped tremendously when it came to improving my CARS section score. On my previous MCAT attempt, I got a 124 (50 percentile), and the same score on the reading comprehension section on the ACT from high school. I believed my ability to read critically was fixed, and unable to improve. But later, during my second MCAT attempt, I got a 129 (95 percentile). I was very happy. I had not done well on the CARS part of my practice exams before my MCAT so I thought I was not going to do well, but I was wrong. Gabe’s strategy focuses on finding the main idea first, details later, and building speed over time by practice. Gabe realizes that different people have different approaches, so there may not be one fixed correct way, and he also emphasizes that test takers should not be slowed down by a harder exam or some harder questions. I used the note taking to train me to summarize first but then Gabe showed that it is okay to use highlighting instead of note taking and take minimal notes later on. It’s a strategy that worked for me, other test prep companies teach fixed approaches such as not highlighting or never going back to the passage, with Gabe, he teaches well and shows that this course should not be rushed, and that success is CARS is built over time. Using actual AAMC questions makes it even better, even if you have used the CARS question packs before, I would still recommend using them again with Gabe’s course. It was completely worth it.

Phenomenal, I think that the course brought me from a 503-514. My CARS score went from a 126 to 130. It was the best investment I made during my prep. I loved the step by step guide at the beginning of the course. It helped set a foundation, while allowing me to adapt the strategy to my own style. I liked the intertwined strategy videos as they helped reinforce and help with techniques. Fantastic.

CARS was always the section that I struggled with the most. With Gabe he helped me understand where I was going wrong and really personalized each session I had with him. CARS ended up being my favourite section to study and it became a lot less frustrating when I had a helping hand along the way. He made me see the big picture and not get stuck in a hole that was spiralling down. I would 100% recommend anyone that is having difficulty with CARS to Gabe. He is attentive, patient and will provide you with all the tricks and tips you need to get the CARS score you always wanted. I went up 6 points from my last scored result and I would not have been able to do it without him.

Gabe was patient with my concerns, questions, and anxieties when helping me prep for the CARS section of my MCAT. There are some tutors who are knowledgable, but struggle to effectively teach. Then, there are some tutors who are empathetic teachers, but are limited in their abilities to fit your needs. Gabe was honestly the perfect balance between extremely helpful and kind. He was able to pinpoint my weaknesses and work on what I particularly struggled with in this section. This was my MCAT retake and I thought CARS would be a hopeless section for me, but he turned it into my favorite section. I went up 4 points into the 90th percentile range! Not only did this score reflect the improvements I had by working with him, but demonstrates the confidence he gave me to get over my text anxiety and struggle to focus when reading passages. I recommend Gabe with all my heart!!!

Gabe is the nicest, most laid back tutor I have ever had. I have worked with other MCAT tutors and was always nervous to ask questions, but Gabe always created such a comfortable learning environment. I was never too afraid to ask a "stupid" question.
Gabe is really knowledgable about CARS and does not even need to think to answer your question. His supplementary videos that break down passages are really helpful in learning how to read passages (which information is the main idea of the paragraph and which details you can skim). He doesn't give you a 10 step strategy that most tutors and testing companies provide. He just gives you a couple of tips and then as you practice you create a strategy without realizing it. I just really enjoyed how simple he makes things and doesn't overwhelm you with material to do. During tutoring sessions, I specifically liked how we would work on passages together and break it down (vs other tutors who just answer the questions you got wrong). Overall, Gabe is the nicest guy, super knowledgeable, and gave me the confidence to tackle CARS by dumbing things down. I would highly recommend Gabe as your CARS tutor.

I really started from the bottom in CARS, meaning sub 120 level! I am so grateful I found Redwood MCAT; I needed someone to go over the passages with me so I could learn by engaging and observing how CARS should be tackled. I was able to practice the right way to think and focus on these passages. The CARS Mastery Course is highly affordable, which made it easy for me to invest in my score. I was able to gain tips and tricks on how to approach and conquer this game. Honestly, do not second-guess yourself just start the course and use it repeatedly you will still learn and reinforce ideas. Gabe truly wants the best for his students and reaches out to make sure all is going well, I really appreciated that, it showed that this is more than a course, it is a journey that you are embarking on with an expert who is determined to teach you the skills! Thankful I joined on.

Gabe is truly the master of MCAT CARS. No other resource out there had worked to improve my CARS score. The reason behind this was that all other resources out there do not spend the time instructing how to attack the CARS section properly, and from someone who has scored a perfect score on the section. Many other companies gloss over CARS and assume the reading comprehension knowledge and foundation base is there, however, the skills needed for CARS are very different. Gabe fulfills this lacking knowledge base. His superb intuition for how the AAMC writes the CARS questions and how a passage is used is extremely useful and something that I was able to pick up on. He is very patient, explains concepts multiple ways, and makes sure you understand all the inner workings of the CARS section as best he can. Gabe goes out of his way to make sure his students succeed and achieve their dream score. Gabe is the BEST resource out there for MCAT CARS - give him a try and you won't regret. He also has good tips/tricks for battling test anxiety and how to overcome it on test day. I was able to improve my MCAT score by 10 points and ended up scoring in the 95th percentile with Gabe in 3 months. MCAT CARS, and the MCAT in general takes a lot of work, but Gabe is there to make sure you study properly, efficiently, and successfully to get you the score you want.

MCAT prep is a stressful experience, and the ways to use your time may seem unlimited in potential. Gabe can tell you how to allocate your time efficiently for the best possible studying experience. Having a trustworthy resource from someone who has scaled the MCAT curve is essential on the journey to becoming a proficient test taker. Gabe was there every step of the way as I progressed through my MCAT journey and has provided empathetic, insightful, honest, and timely advice for all of my MCAT prep questions including topics outside CARS such as study schedule, test materials, and anything mentioned on his website blog. The AAMC CARS material has its unique style of assessing critical reading and Gabe's MCAT course teaches the absolute essentials how to approach the MCAT cars section as well as the more subtle psychology and mindset required to do well on this section. As someone who has scored in the 99th percentile, Gabe will be a proven asset to your MCAT prep portfolio.

Gabe is excellent at coaching for CARS section. He was able to analyze my mistakes easily and coach me in a manner that was tailored to my weaknesses. He has helped me learn how to analyze the paragraphs and understand it from the test maker's perspective. His coaching has given me confidence and improved my CARS section scores.

I tried a lot of tutors out for the MCAT so that I could make the most informed decision possible. To be honest most made very little difference, but 100% Gabe was all the difference on the CARS section. First practice test was a 124 followed by another similar result before I met Gabe, and the actual test I got a 132! I honestly think there isn't a better CARS tutor alive, and as hyperbolic as that sounds I wholeheartedly believe it. He was a really calming presence throughout the very stressful period that is studying for this test. Really cool/great guy as well to boot

Gabe is the CARS master. He knows everything about the CARS section inside and out. CARS is a tough section and it is really hard to figure out the best way to approach it. Even if you are innately a good reader, the CARS section still requires meticulous work and practice to master the AAMC's logic. Without Gabe, I would have wasted many hours practicing passages incorrectly and ultimately would have done worse on the CARS section. Gabe taught me his highly effective and proven to work strategies for both doing the passages and reviewing them, while adjusting them to fit my personal strengths and weaknesses. He is really friendly, down to earth, enthusiastic, engaging, and always supportive and comforting even when you get things wrong. He also has endless tips and thoroughly researched advice/opinions when it comes to study planning and resources. He has worked with hundreds of students and knows how to improve your score regardless of your ability. Notably, his collection of incredibly in-depth videos breaking down every question on the AAMC CARS question packs is a fantastic resource so that you are never left questioning why you got certain questions wrong (which can be a problem given that the AAMC explanations can be unclear). He knows all the AAMC CARS material so well that I could randomly ask him about any question from any passage and he will quickly be able to explain the logic behind the right answer. There was one point where the CARS section was my biggest source of stress about the MCAT, but after taking Gabe's class, I had piece of mind that I was going into the test as prepared as possible, which was a great mental boost. As a result of my tutoring with Gabe, I went from consistently getting 2-3 questions wrong per passage to rarely missing 2 or more per passage. I would highly recommend Gabe to anyone who wants CARS help.
