Very poor workmanship and service

This company (found on TrustATrader) recently undertook a repair via ladders to my leaking gutter joint. The repair took 10 minutes and I was charged what I thought was an exorbitant fee but they stated that the repair and gutter was sound. Just over a week later the gutter came apart again at the joint. They returned and advised that they now required scaffolding and also wanted to replace the entire length of guttering down the side of my house. For this, they wanted to charge £650!!

I have since had the joint repaired by a local roofing company who didn’t need scaffolding and their repairs have held up against the recent bad weather. This second company advised the original repair was poor and sub standard, and repairs of this type should have lasted many years.

Roofing & Building Direct’s website clearly states that “All our work is fully guaranteed, and we pride ourselves with the highest standard of finish”. I have tried to contact them for some recompense on their original bodge but all emails and calls are consistently ignored.

I have clearly been ripped off and I urge you not to go anywhere near this company.

Hi Tony,

We appreciate all feedback and can understand your frustration, however when we first came to the see the job we clearly advised we need scaffolding and couldn’t do the job properly without. We then said if you where not willing to pay for scaffolding we would not be able to guarantee the work.

We apologise if there was a misunderstanding however this was clearly all stated.

Very happy with new roof

Very happy with new roof ! Being a single mother of 2 children I was really struggling to find the right company to install my new roof. After hearing so many good things about Josh and his company I knew I could trust them to do the job, and they did amazing work! Thank you
