The first time I used my Sakuto Seiki Japanese Damascus Steel Knife With Blue Resin Handle the tip has already broken off as I was cutting a grapefruit for my Wife, the tip has not been found and I hope my wife has not ingested same.
Not a good introduction to this make.

This company is a letdown.
I have been a very good customer over the years and spent up big - no more though.
After only five weeks of use, the resin handled utility knife snapped when hubby was slicing Haloumi cheese!
We contacted Sakuto on numerous occasions, asking if they would please replace, only to be ignored completely.
When we left a bad review on their site - it was removed.
An absolute farce.
Don’t bother with this lot.

Bought these knives really excited to upgrade and I couldn’t be more disappointed with both the knives, and the customer service. The knives arrived after waiting weeks only for them to be blunt and super light in weight. They clearly hadn’t been sharpened and the handles were weak and felt plastic. Emailed customer service who have been incredibly unhelpful. Please beware, the return address is to a factory in Japan and no UK courier will accept bladed goods. I have contacted customer support three times about this as they reply ‘they must be returned to Japan’ which breaks all UK consumer laws. Really disappointed. I hate to complain but avoid both these knives, and company, at all costs.

SCAM!!! Do not buy, order never received, poor and slow communication with generic responses, given two fake tracking numbers the same, totally fake site, do not buy and be scammed.

They are not what they are sold for and there is no communication from the company despite many emails sent. Please avoid. The knife fell apart after few months of being used!!!!

Cheap Chinese knives being mis-sold as premium Japanese. This is fraud.

Dispite being a UK website, asked to return to an address which doesn't exist in Japan. (Would cost another 70 quid.) I've been told I can proceed with a debit card charge back unless I have proof they were returned.

Is there a reason why identical photographs from customers have been used in separate reviews on website? A bit suspicious.

Tried to return or even exchange as wasn’t impressed with the colour. They provided a return shipping address in JAPAN (sold to us in UK). The cost was £77 to ship - which we did. The post office returned them to us as there was NO company called Sakuto knives at the address. Shameful and we are reporting them to the UK fraud office. They should be shut down .

Absolutely shocking. Avoid by all costs. One of my utility knives broke in half after one year light use. All insides corroded. Always hand washed and dried. Emails customer service but no reply. Don’t waste your time and avoid disappointment. Sakutoknives.co.uk shame on you!!!

I have bought a whole set of knives, £400. They do look stunning and you have to sharpen them regularly and they are lethal. However, one of them has a tiny chip on the blade, which I’ve noticed around Xmas time. Not sure how this happened as the knives are hand washed, hand dried, not used for anything other than food. It is also extremely surprising that “Damascus” steel or any steel for that matter, would chip on just cutting food. I’ve now emailed 3 times to customer service for replacement-not heard anything. I’ve accepted this is not Damascus steel and these are not genuine Japanese knives. I’m happy they do sharpen very well and they look amazing in my new kitchen but I’m very disappointed that I cannot get in touch with customer service. I just want a replacement.

I purchased a Damascus steel knife set from sakutoknives.co.uk two years ago, expecting it to last a lifetime with proper care, as promised by the product description. Despite following all the care instructions, the knife unexpectedly snapped today, which is unacceptable for a product of this supposed quality -and high price.

I reached out to customer service. No answer!

SCAM. DO NOT BUY. Used to be Santoku knives. They source all of their knives from Alibaba.com.

I recently had a frustrating experience with Sakuto Knives that I feel compelled to share. Initially, the purchase process was smooth and easy, which is why I decided to give them a shot. However, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I received the knives, which were both blunt—and I mean seriously blunt.
After realising that these knives were essentially faulty, I initiated a return. This is where the nightmare began. I was asked to ship the knives back to Japan at my own expense despite the faulty merch. To make matters worse, the return address provided (In Japan!) was for a location where no one seems to be available to accept deliveries. It's beyond frustrating!
Now, over a month has passed, and I still haven't received my refund. I keep getting emails saying "please contact us" and when I ask why, and why are they not taking delivery or initiating my refund I am ingored. I've sent countless emails inquiring about the status of my return, but all I've gotten in response is silence or 1 line emails asking for me to make sure I pay japanese duty. God knows how or why I'd do that. This level of customer service is unacceptable.
I will definitely be updating this review once this matter is resolved, but for now, I strongly advise anyone considering purchasing from Sakuto Knives to think twice. The initial ease of buying quickly fades when you encounter their dreadful return policy and lack of support. Avoid this company if you value your time and money!

UPDATE Jan 16th 2025
The seller just ignored all emails from me and from Paypal and so I had to escalate to them to get my money back which I now have. Honestly, spend a bit more, go to a reputable seller and get something decent and which you can send back if they are blunt, not as described, crap, or you change your mind. In my case it was the first 3.

Nice product! Knives arrived nicely packed, sharp, and in good time. Obviously, they are not Damascus it's just laser print. However, they are beautifully made, goid quality, and I'm happy with my purchase. Based on my experience, I think the trust pilot score is unfair.

To start with I didn’t read the reviews before I purchased a knife. On reading reviews I started to get worried, about so much negative feedback but fortunately I didn't need to worry as some of you did. The knife turn up & it was as I expected it to be, perfect & such craftsmanship. I must be one of the lucky ones & will be ordering again soon.

So angry with myself for falling for this scam wish I’d read reviews first I might have less grey hair !!!! Ordered a knife for my son as a Christmas gift and I’m still waiting for it, keep getting emails saying order fulfilled but tracking says still in transit. Tried cancelling my order and asked for a refund and told to return it for refund to be issued umm how do I return it if I’ve not received it ! Please save your money and piece of mind don’t order from this company they’re atrocious!

Spent $1500 CAN. Never got my order. Customer service never responded. Gave me fake tracking information. Looked into the address on the website and it is a fake/residential area. Reporting to the Better Buisness Bureau.

Terrible customer service, impossible to get a refund!
The knives arrived, the handle looks good, impressive colours and pattern, but the blade is shocking, the Damascus steel style is etched into the blade so is raised, not flush and part of the steel. The knives are not sharp, my husband pushed his finger into the blade and ran it across it and it did not cut his finger, I was told this is not a suitable test of sharpness and they do not agree there is a quality issue. I am trying to return anyway, but the return address “down sparrow” is not listed and they have failed to provide me with the correct one despite asking several times for them to choose an address from the screenshots provided by the courier. I think they are purposefully trying to get the parcel lost in transit so they don’t have to refund me.

SCAM product.
The claim is that you get some stunning Japanese sharp knife.
The reality is a blunt knife that doesn't look anything like what's advertised. Very disappointed.
Trying to get refund from the company is impossible as they send automated emails.
They don't respond to any messages in terms of returns etc.
Don't get caught out like I did.
A SCAM product at its very worst.
I wish I'd read the reviews here first prior to ordering as the FAKE reviews on there site seemed very good.
