We paid £180 for a site survey for roller shutters. Following the survey, we received a quotation which we were happy with. Before placing the order, we checked with our window supplier and confirmed there would be no window cill. We passed this information on to Samson, as it affected which shutter configuration would be required.

During the site survey, we were told the shutters could be configured either to the window cill or to the floor. At no point during the survey, or when the original quotation was issued, were we told that the floor configuration would increase the price by over £600.

After confirming there would be no window cill, Samson issued a revised quotation that was over £600 higher than the original. We felt this significant price difference should have been explained during the site survey, allowing us to make an informed decision before proceeding.

We subsequently obtained quotations from alternative suppliers, all of which were considerably cheaper.

We raised our concerns and asked whether the £180 survey fee could be refunded as a gesture of goodwill, given that the pricing implications had not been made clear during the survey. Unfortunately, customer service was unwilling to reconsider their position or offer any goodwill, simply stating that the survey fee was non-refundable.

In the end, we decided to take our business elsewhere. For us, the purpose of paying for a professional site survey was to establish the correct specification and cost upfront. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience.

We needed a large industrial door and chose Samson Doors over several other suppliers primarily because of their responsiveness and speed of communication. Eddie was very accommodating throughout the process, providing multiple options and detailed quotations to help us make an informed decision.

We ultimately selected a Hörmann door, but the journey to finalizing the specification was quite lengthy. One challenge was that Samson Doors do not conduct site surveys before quoting, instead relying on customers to interpret schematic drawings and technical data sheets. While Eddie was always willing to answer questions, he was not always able to provide technical answers directly and often had to consult the manufacturer. As a result, there was a considerable amount of back-and-forth communication that, in my opinion, could have been reduced with an earlier site visit from a technical engineer.

That said, once we placed the order and paid the deposit, an engineer visited the site to carry out a survey. This was reassuring, as it was the first opportunity to discuss the project in detail with someone who had strong technical knowledge of the product and installation requirements for our specific setting.

The door was delivered within the agreed timeframe and shipped directly to us. While everything arrived successfully, I was somewhat surprised that there was no Samson representative present to inspect the delivery and confirm that the product had arrived in perfect condition.

The installation itself went smoothly. The fitters completed the work in three days, and the finished door looks excellent. There were a couple of scratches that needed attention, and although these were ultimately resolved, it took three separate visits and a fair amount of patience to get everything fully sorted.

Overall, we are happy with the quality of the product and the final result. However, the customer journey was somewhat inconsistent, with several areas where communication and process could be improved. I would recommend Samson Doors, but prospective customers should be aware that the process may require patience and persistence before everything comes together.

I used Samson doors to support the project I have been managing. Due to the timeframe from tender to receiving the order to proceed with the package works, the main point of contact had left the business. Dija took over our package and quotation. From the outset Dija made contact with myself, her passion for the business and welling to assist was outstanding. Dija was always happy to help and assist even if she was not aware of the answer she would find out from the relevant parties and inform me. This is the second time I’ve used this company. From initial enquiry to completion they are absolutely first class. The survey was meticulously completed with every option carefully explained. The installation team were fabulous.. fed with bacon baguettes.. which kept them happy.. a perfect job completed with pride and perfection.

This is incredibly important for us.

It was a strange install as the door was a security feature on a Mezzanine but they did a survey visit, understood what we were looking for and the whole process was seamless. The door looks great and does exactly what we wanted. very happy.

After moving in to a commercial property that had an existing shutter but the previous owner had removed part of the track in order to cause us issues opening the shutter to the premises an act of malice. We tried lots of companies to source a replacement track that would match the one in place. Without any product name or serial number this was proving an issue and it looked as if we would have to replace the whole gate and track to enable our business to be secure. Eddie after initially informing us the track was an older model and would probably not be able to be found. He contacted me a week later to tell me he had found the part, at a fraction of the cost of a new complete shutter. It was delivered and fitted perfect. We now have a fully functioning gate and the business is now fully secure.

Very happy with the service and the quality of the door, Michaela Preston helped immensely right through the process.
The only issue I had was the factory rolled the door up with the bottom on the outside and this meant the door had to be unrolled and rolled up the right way in order to install it but apart from that am really happy.
the next customer who would like a new roller door I will be recommending Samson doors.

We got off to a bit of a shaky start but fair play to the team at Samson Doors who were absolutely brilliant at dealing with our concerns and leaving my mother (who had window shutters installed) with a fabulous solution that she is delighted with.

The installation engineer (Paul) was an absolute star and deserves a special mention but it was Michaela who helped pull things together and make my mother got what she wanted and was happy at the end of the process.

My mother is now happily showing off her new electric shutters and telling all her friends to buy their garage doors and shutters from Samson.

Doors arrived on exactly when promised and in good condition. Excellent, tidy product, priced well, and great responsive service from Michaela and Mia.

We wanted to replace the window roller shutters on the two windows on the front of our bungalow. To this end we searched around for quotes from various suppliers and installers by ‘phone and email. This was on the 7th October 2024. Although the quote from Samson was n’t the cheapest we felt that the particular shutters they were quoting for were superior to some of the others offered. Moreover we were impressed by the professional attention we received from Eddie Diggin. He provided us with useful advice and guidance during several ‘phone conversations and emails. We were assured that he had our best interests at heart and we were appreciative of his no pressure approach. Once we had provisionally accepted the quote he arranged for Paul Butters to come the very next day to carry out a survey. He was with us for an hour and answered our questions patiently and clearly. An installation date of 29th October was agreed and we paid 50% immediately and the remainder 3 days before installation. The installers James and Ben arrived a little before 8.00am yesterday as arranged and worked quickly and efficiently in installing our new shutters. They were finished a little before 12.30 and made sure that we were completely satisfied before leaving. We have no hesitation in fully recommending Samson as being reliable and professional in the supply and installation of windo roller shutters.

After initial telephone discussion with the Mia at Samson Doors I ordered a set of insulated steel side hinged garage doors for fast delivery (7-10days) from their website. A technical glitch in the website links caused a slight delay but Samson Doors team, Eddie Diggins and Mia Noble in particular, were very helpful and still managed delivery within the 7-10 working days. Even managed to persuade their driver to squeeze the delivery onto the end of the day rather than first drop the next day to accommodate us as could not be available the following morning.

I contacted about having two roller shutter doors serviced, seemed to take a while but eventually it got sorted and Samson came out. Our assigned engineer was Paul, he was polite and generally excellent and I can't fault him at all, my 3 stars are for the initial time it took to sort out and the price. We have never had doors serviced before so wasn't sure what to expect. We were charged £350 + VAT, they had to travel 1 mile to us an Paul was here for the grand total of 45 mins, had a tool bag but generally just took notes, so the price was far, far to high.
