The ScaleUp team has shown up on time and delivered what they've promised over several years of collaboration. Can totally recommend if you're looking for a fractional CFO with good generalist financial skills!

The perfect partner for an early stage needing a ready made, pragmatic, tech first, finance team.

The team integrate into the wider business - sales, delivery, people etc - as much or little as you like, adapting to your business’s comm tools and style.

Our CFO Partner, Sam, was very understanding of our stage of business and organised the team according to our (ever changing) operating needs.

They brought new ideas and tooling to the party, playing a key part in automating our processes and readying us for scale.

Put simply, they felt part of the team and I would certainly recommend.

As a seed-stage VC backed startup, we had a growing list of financial challenges but weren't sure if the timing was right to bring in a CFO partner. We pulled the trigger anyway and it turned out to be one of our best calls we did that year.

Non-existent CFO as a service.

As another reviewer mentions, they over-promise and under deliver. I fully agree with the fact that they are stretching their CFOs thinly, hence you end up paying a premium for something that isn't delivered.

A core example: We need to check everything twice, our CFO-numbers haven't been closed since december 2024 (and it's september 2025) now, and despite having been a customer for a year, their core IT still doesn't work properly (invoice/voucher handling).

Best advice, find someone else.

I love Scaleup! They are our fractional CFO as a service and also look after all our day-to-day financial operations / systems and financial modelling. I love having a dedicated CFO and Finance Specialist for the day-to-day, with a deep well of expertise supporting them. All the Scaleup folks we're worked with are smart, they have quickly gained an understanding of our business and delivered tangible pragmatic recommendations and improvements that have significantly reduced the burden of finance on me as the founder and COO. Most of all, they behave like an extension of our team - I trust and value them.

Scaleup Finance has helped us hugely along our rapid-growth journey, giving our lean finance team much-needed support and access to expertise, helping us improve our systems and processes at a crucial stage in our development. They have also been great for helping us with the timely production of management accounts and consolidated reporting at a group level, reducing the amount of manual work required significantly and freeing up our resources so we can focus on other important aspects to drive the business forward.

Do not use. They over promise and don’t deliver. They try and stretch their CfO’s between too many clients so they aren’t actually able to do their jobs and you as the customer are the one who suffers.

I own a startup and “subscribed” to a CFO. After a year of not delivering the help and support they were supposed to, meaning I was effectively running my company blind, they sent invoices not owed directly to the receipt software they set up instead of to me, giving me no chance to challenge. As they had not completed the onboarding that was supposed to be done in January, was not owed. (This was August) the MD then told me to do the right thing and pay for the bookkeeping they had done which I offered to do, he then used the same contract that said I owed him nothing to try and charge me 4x more.

There are some nice people there but they are a start up themselves and simply disorganised and incapable of delivering what they promise.

It’s a shame as thought it was a great concept. If only their product was as good as their marketing.

Vi afsluttede samarbejdet for et år siden. De havde lovet nogle ting i deres kontrol af vores finansielle overblik, som de slet ikke kunne holde og vi blev tvunget til at overkorrigere og bl.a. fyre to uskyldige deltidsmedarbejdere. Vi forhandlede os frem til at få halvdelen af vores betaling retur efterfølgende og troede den var lukket der.
Et par måneder efter skulle vores nye revisor så i dybden med tallene, men da de så hvor dårligt arbejde Scale up havde udført med at bogføre, trak de sig. Vi var derfor nødt til at finde en ny revisor med kort varsel og betale et markant beløb for at rydde op i Scale Ups bogføring. Hele perioden kostede os et relativt stort beløb og derudover havde det også nogle trælse effekter i organisationen hvor bestyrelse, investorer mm. blev usikre. Jeg vil kraftigt anbefale ikke at vælge dem, selvom alt ser godt ud på overfladen. De er dygtige til at markedsføre sig, ikke særligt fagligt dygtige.

Lad være! De er godt til, at få ting til at se flot ud på overfladen, men de har ikke styr på helt grundlæggende bogføring.

Jeg har været kunde hos Scaleup finance i 8 mdr. i mine virksomheder. Det startede godt med gode møder, men efter første møde gik det hele i stå.
Først da jeg rykkede dem for service, og at jeg var utrilfreds med deres arbejde begyndte der igen at ske noget.

Dette endte dog med, at der kun blev leveret ca. 3-4 timers arbejde hver tirsdag (når de ellers huskede det)

Til sidst pressede jeg på for, at de skulle færdiggøre regnskaber til revisor. Det arbejde de på en md. og leverede materialle som på overfladen så det flot ud, men da revisor gik i dybden var der helt kritiske fejl som desværre udstiller deres mangler inden for regnskab.
Jeg har fået stort set nul værdi ud af dyre md. og har selv måtte rydde op bagefter.
