Really enjoyed the lessons, they were in depth and detailed without feeling too overloading. The homework was challenging but fun to complete and the instructor gave me useful feedback throughout. I managed to complete it within the allocated time, but had to make use of the catch up week and extended critique time at the end as it just takes a long time to animate!
I came into the course knowing the basics of After effects, but feel now that I understand how to animate, not just use AE. Overall it was a great experience and would highly recommend!
If you are willing to put in the time you will get a lot out of it.

If you want to learn motion graphics in an innovative and creative way that will push you beyond your expectations - you will love this course. Taught with energy and enthusiasm, this is what makes this course amazing. Loved it!

Design Kickstart was a really useful class that upped my game in my day to day work. The exercises feel plucked from real life (albeit targeting just the material we're focusing on), which really helps you feel that you can apply them right away. The only reason I didn't go 5 stars was some of my course feedback was not delivered timely and there were repeated issues with getting appropriate access to SoM's social media platform.

Simply the best animation course out there to help aspiring motion graphic artists

I had been on the fence on whether or not to take this class for a while. After taking the class, I wish I had done this sooner.

The class lessons were clear, informative and well organized with each lesson building off the prior. I thought the Teacher Assistants did a great job providing advice and encouragement.

I like my experience! I just wish I had more time to make better my homework. But having a job in day and then studying at night it was a little hard for me.

The tutorials were very instructive and the assignments were beneficial. The markers on the videos helped a lot. Having a TA helped to keep me motivated--knowing someone was actually watching and reviewing my work.

TA is not helpful as I thought it would be. Instructions seem not clear and projects feels like are outdated

School of Motion is a great resource for professionals looking to move forward into motion graphics, designers trying to get out of a rut, students seeking more intense focus on design and animation than they may get in a traditional school setting. As a prof. graphic designer with previous animation experience, I enrolled in the Design for Animation Bootcamp to get back on track in the animation world in order to satisfy current client requests and to bring in new mograph and video projects. This course was very intensive—much like having real-world projects thrown at you; it ended up feeling like I had a new client along with my existing projects. The projects force you to think differently than you may be doing in school or at work, and offer insights and new methods for working in Photoshop and Illustrator. Within the first week, I learned new techniques that I immediately put to work on client projects. I'll admit to being totally exhausted between SOM and my billable jobs, but it was completely worth it. I'm planning on enrolling in the Animation Bootcamp in the spring of 2023, and possibly some of the shorter duration classes focusing on Cinema 4D and illustration. Great school—reminds me of School of Visual Arts which I attended long ago. I highly recommend it if you're thinking of getting into the wide-open field of animation.

Since the very first moment I watched a tutorial on School of Motion's YouTube Channel, I knew that would be a great experience if someday I'd take a course. I was right! The methods, the TAs and the community are excellent, the classes have a great structure and the homeworks always surprised me on how quick my skills were improving. A huge thank you to everyone in SOM that made it possible!

Best decision ever. Intense 8 weeks of learning with head banging hours of working on new skills. But in the end grew up to be way besser then at the beginning.

I had only dabbled with AE before doing the Kickstart class, with a dusting of free YouTube videos here or there, but absolutely nothing has ever compared to what I've learned with School of Motion. The course is structured in such a user-friendly way, so it doesn't start too hard, but the assignments ensure you're not bored if one week covers something you already have experience with. The gentle increase in more advanced techniques is a great way to build a repertoire of skills that you can develop over the weeks, and it means that each and every assignment has something new, with the opportunity to refine your ideas from earlier classes. I loved taking the course, and the smatterings of bonus content made for some really spicy assignments.

I learned so much from the Animation Oatmeal episodes, and being able to review the work of my peers in the homework locker. Getting direct feedback from a TA was really beneficial, and nothing was more rewarding than seeing my own assignments being shown off in the weekly review episodes... twice! It really helped with my confidence and made me even more motivated to make the next assignment even better.

The course is pretty intense, but I've learned more in 8 weeks with SOM than I'd have learned in years of trying to do it on my own. It's such a worthwhile investment of your time and money if you're looking to get started with After Effects!

I took the “Illustrator Unleashed” course and it was really great. I learned a ton for short period of time. There a couple things that I like the most. First, your homework looks like similar to what you did on lesson, but it’s different enough to try find out your own ways to do something. Second, teacher assistance in Motion School is super helpful, because I’m totally new in this field and just by couple of comments they show you how to improve your work. I really enjoy this course, it was funny and interesting.

I think that school of motion has one of the best online course platforms I have used and interfaced with. I really enjoyed this class and felt engaged with my time in it. My only downside is I felt my TA wasn't great at giving genuine feedback. Everything the TA said seemed to not have weight because it was followed up with "good job" "keep it up" Those are good in small doses, not after everything I do, just makes me feel like you are saying it to say it rather then you actually meant it.

Nol is an excellent teacher and someone I really enjoyed learning from!

The school of motion videos were very explanatory, the assignments were reasonable, and I felt comfortable with the software after the class. However, I just wish it were easier to contact the support team. Emailing was ok, and the TAs usually responded quickly, but for some things it would have been easier to just call.

Actually, it's a really really good experience of learning. I like the way the whole learning process arranged. Throughout the course, I was curious about what's next? The lecturer delivered the course in friendly and stress free way. The teaching assistant always pushed us to polish our skills through his critiques. It's fantastic to learn new skill under this type of flexible format of learning. I enjoyed the every single day of the course. I'm very much thankful for SOM team for this marvelous experience.

Generally I thought it was an excellent course. Only reason I placed it at 4 stars was that often I was finding that my version (most current) of AE was different from what was being taught. Only one time was it mentioned in the course and a legacy solution was offered (puppet tool). TBH, I don't necessarily think it was School of Motion. I don't know when the changes happened in AE? There may not have been enough time to update lessons. But I think moving forward, it would be nice for changes in software to be included in the lessons. Even if it's just a 1-minute explanation of why or how it changed. My date is approximate below.

I've taken AEK and AB. Then got into 3D Basecamp and 3D Ascent. The lessons are well structured. It's like being handed a map so you won't get lost in your field, be it 2d or 3d. The exercises are challenging but direction and critiques are specific. The classes are really game changers if you want to accelerate your animation skills. TAs are the best in the industry and school support is always available. They'll reply back on the weekend. Very healthy and kind community at the square, and you got the best teachers who are really good at teaching all that they know. ( found friends at SOM too!!! )

I really enjoyed this course through School of Motion. The content and videos were really well presented and engaging. The material covered was comprehensive, and I felt exceeded my expectations on what I was going to learn.

The course has exceeded all my expectations. I have learned a lot, the classes were well explained, the assignments have approved the knowledge acquired. I am looking forward to another course with SoM. Thank you!
