Fantastic bass tuition covering everything from basics to professional. You can also buy accelerator courses that are fast pathways to specific skills. Cannot recommend these guys enough.

I've been playing bass live for 50 years but I still learn a huge amount from Scott's Bass Lessons. Why wasn't it around when I was 14?

- Awesome diversity and quality of the courses, learning pathways, daily or other regular sessions :
* all the tutors are great musicians and educators, solid, and yet so cool and even funny :)
* killer downloads (worbooks, backing tracks...)
- Their great relevance to a given level and thus the possibility to improve it.
- Samely "players path" : a great tool, particularly if linked with playlists you can find or create on spotify (for instance).
- The lifetime membership.
- The top-notch website.

I've been using Scotts Bass Lessons for a while now and it's a well-structured learning platform. The instructors know what they're doing, and there's a huge range of courses to pick from depending on what you're working on. What really stands out is the "Beginner Journey" and the "Players Path" system - they take you step by step from beginner right through to intermediate or even advanced, so you're never guessing what to learn next. Each lesson or course builds logically on the last, and the material itself is easy to follow: videos alongside PDFs, plus both tabs and standard notation depending on how you like to read music. Honestly, it's made me wish I had more hours in the day to actually sit down and play.

SBL has been my teacher - it's unlocked the basics of bass playing, from walking bass lines, reading lead sheets, chord progressions, slap bass and the real key that unlocked everything for me. I had the ah-ha moment right in these pages... I have composed many a tune using the Groove Trainer and I am fronting my own band - largely due to digging in here and learning from pros how to put the pieces together. I'd say it's worth every penny.

This is the closest on line tutorial system that I have found to being in actual music school. It offer love sessions as well as the on line courses, with excellent back up materials to go with the video tutorials. There are also lots of podcasts and interviews that make the overall learning experience an immersive, inclusive and well resourced one. It is also excellent value for money.

I've learned more faster since joining SBL than I had in two years of trying to do it on my own. Ian is awesome and breaks things down so someone new can understand it. That's special, being an older over 50 starter.

The courses are excellent and hit on material that builds on the individuals level of play. The instructors make great instructional material and the live sessions are of great benefit.

Scott may be a fine teacher, but the organisation isn’t. Did one session and i loved it. But than i lost my oassword. No possible way to get in contact with SBL. Nobody at the helpdesk, never an anwer to e-mails, tried everything for two weeks but than gave up. It took them months to convince me to become a member en than do this? I just don’t understand. Got my money back by Paypal, SBL didn’t reply to them neither i guess. Such a shame and not necessary.

All was well with this online bass lessons portal, up until the day when I decided to cancel my enrolment to the third course I bought from them, based on the 30-day trial period, which was part of the conditions of the offer.

Ever since, I’ve written twice to the owners of the site via the contact form within the members area of the site. Then, after one week had passed without any response, I wrote twice directly to their support@ address. Both times I got automatic answers from a chat bot, that my request will be processed in next 2 days. Now it’s already been 5 days without a reply and the chat bot is now contacting me to know if I have been able to review the response - which I have not received (checked all possible places like Spam or Unknown folders etc). The chat bot even asked me if I could rate the site’s support. It also stated the if I did not respond to it‘s message it would close my request within the next couple of days.

All in all it feels like at this site you’re only welcome as long as you send them your money. Despite all announcements to the contrary, refunds are not part of the deal. Really a pity…

Addendum: to be fair…. one day after this review, the site’s Support responded to my request and have refunded me the full course fees.

Scott's bass lessons is a wealth of great info and amazing lessons regarding the bass guitar. The info is presented in a way that is easy to digest. One only has to put in the work to see growth and improvement

I am deeply disappointed! I requested a refund and have been ignored for almost a month. No response. Never again SBL.

The range of bass-related topics is very wide, and the instructors (all of them tremendously skilled in both playing and in explaining the concepts) go in depth into their subjects. It's a very well-rounded platform for learning the bass or improving as a musician.
