My experience with Shields Movers and Staffers LLC was completely unacceptable and extremely unprofessional from start to finish.

One week before the move, I provided detailed descriptions and photos of everything that needed to be moved. Despite already having this information, I received a 10:00 PM phone call the night before the move to "verify" items and details. During that same call, they attempted to change my confirmed 9:00 AM move time to 11:00 PM. Changing a move to nearly midnight the night before is not just inconvenient -- it shows a total lack of professionalism and respect for a customer's time.

The morning of the move, they again requested the same photos and details that had already been sent multiple times. I specifically confirmed that they would provide all moving materials, including couch protection and two TV boxes. I was clearly told they would bring everything needed.

Shortly after sending the photos again, I received a text stating that I had "too much and it was too early for them to deal with us." That statement alone speaks volumes about how they treat customers. At that point, I requested a refund.

Suddenly, I received a call from someone claiming to be a worker who said they would "try their hardest" to complete the move that day. I had dock access in my Arlington, VA high-rise only until 1:00 PM -- something they were fully aware of.

When the movers arrived, they showed up in an unmarked U-Haul truck with zero Shields Movers branding. After entering my apartment, they claimed they were told not to move my two TVs because they were "not in the quote." They also arrived without couch covers, shrink wrap, or TV boxes -- despite assuring me they would provide all required materials.

I had to leave in the middle of the move and spend $80 of my own money at Public Storage to purchase the supplies they had promised to bring.

After finally wrapping the couch, the movers struggled to remove it and ended up ripping the upholstery, causing clear damage. They contacted the owner, Candido Shields, to report the damage. He never called to apologize, explain next steps, or offer a resolution.

When I reached out directly, he said he would "take care of it," but then stopped responding to my calls and messages entirely. I am now left with a damaged couch and no compensation.

This company demonstrated disorganization, broken promises, poor communication, lack of proper equipment, and ultimately property damage with zero accountability.

If you value reliability, professionalism, and basic customer service, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Do not ever hire this fraud of a company. They hired a disabled, homeless man off of Craigslist to move our stuff. I had to pick him up from a McDonald's parking lot, then drive all over town looking for his friends to help. His friends walked off after an hour of work. This guy then texted me screenshots of this company telling him not to mention Craigslist at all. I ended up taking him back to the McDonalds where I found him, doubling back and taking the long way so he wouldn't remember where I lived. I tried to call the company about this s**tshow and got no response. I then texted them about the situation. They straight-up lied about getting people through Craigslist.
I had to call off work the next day so I could load and then unload a U-Haul truck MYSELF. This company is a sham and should be sued out of existence.

This company is a fraud please stay away from this company! The owner promised me a flat of $635.00 flat... the down payment is 125.00. I made the down payment, and the owner said he would send over invoice for the remaining balance it never happened instead this business owner complained that he had other invoices to send out . I requested the refund of the $125 and to this day I have not gotten my refund back . Please stay away from this fraudulent company

This company is fraud. They advertise as professional and experienced but the guy over this company outsources "people" from who knows where. The people who he had help me move were not experienced. They didn't know how to load a uhaul. They were putting in boxes first before the big stuff and then was having to remove the boxes to fit the washer/dryer and furniture. They removed my front door because they couldn't figure out how to get the sectional out even though the movers who had delivered it got it in with no problems. They scratched up my furniture. It took them 2 1/2 hours to load a one bedroom apartment and that was with 3 additional people helping with moving boxes. This company is a joke and if you value your time and money DO NOT hire this "company"

Edit: As you can see the owner responded to my review. I am unable to post screenshots on this platform but I have screenshots from where I sent the owner a text message on may 24th talking about my experience and how I wanted to further discuss it and requested a call back. It is June 5th and I never received a call or a text back. I also tried to call him right before the "movers" left to discuss the issue but he didnt answer. This man is a liar and I DO NOT recommend them. They shouldn't be allowed to do business.

This Memorial Day weekend 2025, I found myself in an absolute nightmare when the movers I had hired canceled on me with only hours notice. This was a situation where the move could not be delayed and I was nearly in tears. It was a Saturday on a holiday weekend. We only had our moving truck for 8hrs and we were two women who needed the help. After much time online and many stressful hurried phone calls I found Shields. From the first contact they were so wonderful! They stepped right up and sent the most friendly, personable and unbelievably hardworking guys to the rescue. They did a fast job, no damages, and wow!! So reasonably priced!! Lowest quote I got. Tony and Kyle were the best. If you don't call Shields you really, really missed out!

I recommend this company 1000 times we were in a bind due to original moving labor never arriving, I googled movers and came across Shields not only did he send an awesome team same day, Alvin and his crew were beyond amazing and phenomenal!! I can’t thank them enough for everything they did!!!! Whatever the future holds I’m only using shields!!!!

They were extremely kind, got the job done ! I’m so satisfied,I will be telling all my friends about how good of a job they did, fastest movers iv ever booked, thank you!

These guys are great. Showed up on time. They were very professional and made sure all of our things arrived at the new place intact.

This was the WORST moving experience. I had a move in Lansing and was charged $700! The movers broke my entertainment stand and it was NEVER replaced. One of the movers was walking around and moving my things with a gun visibly seen. They didn’t wrap any of my furniture as promised and they failed to return my glass shelves as promised. Honestly, PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!! THIS COMPANY IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND WERE ROUGH HANDLING MY THINGS. THE MANAGER REFUSED TO CALL ME BACK WITHOUT ANY CONCERN AND I WAS NOT GIVEN ANY COMPENSATION FOR MY TELEVISION ENTERTAINMENT STAND THAT THE MOVER PICKED UP AND PLACED ONTO IT’S SIDE!

I am extremely excited to do this review. My previous movers cancelled on me the day before the moving date and I was so upset. I booked with Shields Movers in less than 24 hours and they saved the day. Communication skills were awesome throughout the entire process. The staff were excellent and respectful.The greatest asset is they listen to your requests but they also offer great suggestions. I definitely recommend Shields Movers for your relocation needs. They are the best . I stand by my word any day. Thank me later.🥰👍

Don’t use these movers if you’re a woman. They are not safe!

My move took about 6hours and for about 4 1/2 hours I was repeatedly sexually harassed by one of the movers. This included multiple invasive highly inappropriate questions and comments that are not fit for me to include here. It reached the point where I even told the mover to mind his business and just move my items, and he laughed and continued on with his comments. I sent an email to this company to make them aware of what happened and I did not receive any response. They clearly don’t care about the safety of their customers and as a woman this was very concerning for me because this mover has my phone number and my address. Do not use these movers!

I highly recommend them. They were extremely punctual, professional, efficient and very pleasant to deal with!

I recently had a move with this company. The movers were friendly, courteous, and professional. When they arrived, they immediately began to work and completed the job as expected. I will use their services again.

Pricing was fair. Workers were on time and communicated with me from the start of the move, till the end. They handled my stuff with care and they moved quickly.
