Horrendous, DO NOT USE!

Horrendous company. Do not patronise them!

I placed an order for 1kg of Kokoa hot chocolate (my son loves it). A cleaning cloth was sent in error and I never received my original order.

My son has very recently been in hospital and is still receiving treatment at home, for which I need to be present 24/7.

Despite explaining my circumstances, the company have flat refused to issue a refund or post out my original order until I have sent back the item that THEY SENT IN ERROR!

Their suggestion for a resolution was for ME to organise for a Royal Mail collection of the item (like I don't have enough on my plate with 24 hour care of my son) and are refusing to fulfil their legal obligation according to The Consumer Rights Act 2015 as advised by Citizens Advice.

What is most upsetting isn't the loss of the item or money, but their sheer lack of compassion for another human being's situation. Even as a small business (I run one myself), if you can't take the loss of a cloth for the sake of not making someone's horrendous situation even worse, then a serious look at company ethics needs to be had, not to mention the fact that their 'company policy' is in contradiction with the law.

As yet a resolution still has not been found and if my rights as a consumer are not fulfilled I will be taking legal action.

I'm the manager here and I would never allow something like this to happen, so I'm very confused as to what's happened here.

AVOID buying coffee machines here.

We purchased a coffee machine from ShopCoffee back in March 2023. The order went through okay however after numerous phone calls and broken promises we were made to wait 6 weeks for the machine to finally arrive. 8 months of use and the machine is no longer working, which is where the experience with this business started to really get bad. First of all we find that there isn't a service department or engineer to talk to via phone but you have to fill out a form and communicate via email, which is a rather drawn out process.

It is via this email exchange that things become apparent that the coffee machines do not come with what we would call a warranty. Well not a warranty that we have used so many times with multiple other coffee businesses. If you want an engineer to come to you then you need to pay for the call out and ALL parts and labour. The only way you are covered by their warranty is if you ship the machine to them. The machines 'has to be delivered via a pallet and with insurance'. They are knowingly pricing customers out of getting the machine fixed as this costs nearly as much as the value of the machine. They are fully aware of this!!

We are a family business of 130 years and we have never felt so annoyed by the misrepresentation of another business. We feel cheated. Do not buy here if you want a machine with a warranty!!

Unfortunately, as you chose "Machine Warranty - 1 Years Parts & Labour (Return to Base) (FREE)" when checking out, this is the level of service you have opted for.

This is clearly noted on the 1. product page, 2. addons, 3. cart, 4. checkout, 5. order confirmation email and 6. invoice, not to mention a dedicated warranty information page, accessible via a pop-out link all over our website. clear as day.

It is extremely clear that the warranty you chose was return to base, if you wanted on-site warranty, it should have been selected before checkout.

We did not and will not refuse to honour the warranty or repair of a machine under the terms of the warranty, for which in your case was a return to base warranty.

It's unfair to leave a negative review when we haven't done anything wrong. In fact your machine is still under warranty and you are more than welcome to return this to us to be repaired.

Fracino fault & warranties

I bought a £1200 Fracino coffee machine. Sadly after little use the machine developed a fault with a thermostat and could not be used. I asked for the unit to be repaired or a service engineer to visit but was told I had to bear the cost of returning and as the machine is very large and heavy and as I did not need to be damaged this cost me £125. I spent another £125 to have it redelivered after the fault was repaired. If this was the case after a fair 12 months of use I would not have minded. It is true that I was offered the option to pay at the outset a further £250 for an "upgraded warranty" (a lot of money). No one expects goods fit for purpose to break after short use and I don't believe that a customer should bear these costs for a manufacturer fault after such light use (and I advised the company of this.I did ask the company to ask Fracino to accept a share of the shipping costs but was told in no uncertain terms that this was not going to happen. A shame as I one of the reasons I bought the machine was to support a UK manufacturer.

Please note, the repair was requested 7 months after purchase, which clearly indicates a developed fault and not one that was present on delivery.

We honoured the warranty and repaired the machine which was sent back to us 7 months after purchase. Only the cost of transportation was paid by yourself. All parts & labour for the machine repair was done at our own expense, as per your level of warranty coverage.

It's unfair to leave a negative review when we haven't done anything wrong. If you had opted for on-site warranty, it would have been done on-site without needing to return it. But unfortunately, this was not the case.
