I came in and spoke with Carmen and she was lovely , wonderful customer service and she took her time to explain everything that we might have needed to know. We will definitely be returning

My recent move to Shurgard went smoothly. I set my account up online, which was quite straightforward. When I had to call customer services, the managed my query very efficiently and professionally. They could not have been more friendly and helpful. They were also very patient in answering my questions. I visited the unit in person and met Wendy, who was able to assist me with the ID identification process and with the change in move date. Wendy was there on the day I moved in and again, was very professional and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I have no hesitation in recommending Shurgard for all the reasons given above but also as their prices are very competitive and good value for the service they provide. Everywhere was clean and tidy. I liked the App facility, which saves you having to key in the number each time.

We have had a unit in Portsmouth for nearly two years (from Lok n Store to Shurgard) and it has served us very well while we prepared our house for redecorating, sale and our eventual move.
Wendy and her colleagues are a great team and have provided us with excellent customer service, they are always helpful with a friendly smile.

Cheapest storage option in Pompey! After being let down by a competitor (adding extra costs after the initial "quote"), the difference in attitude with Shurgard was very refreshing. Kerry was great at answering our queries, and the signup process was seamless.

Easy access, good opening hours, and perfect location next to the motorway (Portsmouth branch).

Friendly staff, explained exactly what to do, and gave me the correct size unit.

Easy to store my items, plus also it was easy to upgrade my unit

Absolute rip off with this company. Incompetent unprofessional. Moved from one storage size to another. The first account was in my name and moved to a smaller unit with the 1 pound for the first month special. Went to open it in my husband's name with a completely different address. He forgot his ID so we used my ID. Head office flagged up 2 accounts in my name and I received an email from Chris to pay the full amount. I called to change the name and said I couldn't. We reserved this online which if we had finished the booking everything would have gone OK and would not have had to pay the registration fee also. I have had a storage here for over a year and received no refund for the original unit that I paid for a full month and only used for 2 weeks. The staff at the portsmouth branch were fully aware of our move plans as we spoke to them on at least 3 occasions.

Thought the staff in reception were so friendly and extremely helpful during a very stressful sensitive time for me. Believe me when I say they went above and beyond which in this day and age is extremely rare. They even called me the following day and asked how things went and offered me even more helpful suggestions. All i can say is a very well done you are a massive credit to the company you represent

I love that there is no haggling, that they offered a great price straight away from their website; all the other companies that I got online quotes from have bombarded me with emails and calls telling me they can give me they're best prices by phone - Shurgard did not waste my time with such games.
The premises are clean and well lit, the app and app-based codes for secure doors work well.

Kerry was so helpful and patient showing us how to use the app and finding a smaller storage unit on the same floor. I was concerned with the new app and access however it was so easy to use and adds to secuity. Fantastic customer service and storage would definitely recommend.

When discussing my requirements with your customer service representative he was so helpful in helping me secure a storage unit that suited my needs at a price that was within my budget.
On moving in day the team at Portsmouth were excellent and helpful making the whole experience smooth.

First off Kerri at reception was excellent and I would rate her 5 stars.

The price of this unit I would rate 5 stars as it is great value compared to others.

Current problems that can be fixed:
filthy toilet, no toilet roll
changing the name of the unit to Shurgard not Lok N Store
Broken roller door meaning only one loading bay available - this was very annoying
Lifts close very quickly which is frustrating
You need an app to open everything - this in principle feels good and safe but is a bit slow and at times did not work. Patchy signal caused issues here. No one else helping you can open doors or (soon) operate lifts which is simply ridiculous. Imagine you ran out of battery, didn't have a phone or a bluetooth+data phone then you would be completely stuck.
You should be allowed to use the stairs but it said only in emergency - which is ridiculous.
Flimsy doors
No lights inside units (really?!)
Old and battered trolleys, some which didn't work properly and need better types

So in short - excellent price but lots of improvements needed
