We visited shurgard today to enquire about storage. We were helped by Nic who explained everything about how to use the space and she showed us an example of a unit. She was efficient and pleasant, clearly explaining everything that we needed to know.

Matthew and Nic was brilliant at South Croydon. Great service and informative.

Came into the south Croydon branch for a viewing of a unit. Rory was extremely helpful and informative and I was able to get the size I needed very quick and efficiently.

We were running late I got the wrong date but the staff were amazing they stayed a little later to help us. Brighton rd Croydon branch were fab!

Everything was fine - until I left!
I emailed them confirming I will be closing my account & emptying my unit on the 3/7/22 (which I did).

Carried on with my life as you do ..

I then received an invoice (2 weeks later!?!) asking for £320 roughly.. which I then questioned why I received this... for me to get a reply to remove my lock even though I took it with me on the 3rd...? Very confused by this point!

After explaining numerous times that lock was not mine as I took it on the 3rd, 3 months later.. I am getting harassed to pay over £400 by their dept collectors!!!! (yeah the price somehow went up nearly £100 out of nowhere?!?) as apparently I didn't clear my unit till the 20th?!

As I haven't set foot in the building since the 3rd I asked them to provide proof to show that it was ME using that unit after that date yet they can't do this (would be some sort of miracle if they did!) Yet they refuse to budge and insist that I owe that money..

Their emails/ staff are less than helpful and even though I told them I was emptying my unit and closing my account as of the 3rd not one of them notified me the lock was (apparently) still on the door after this until I chased THEM?

So they are quite happy to rack up charges on your account with out the courtesy of contacting you if something doesn't seem right!..

Communication is the worst I have ever experienced in my 35 years.

I have been harassed by them for 3 months now (still ongoing) by email and threatening letters from their dept collectors for money that I definitely do not owe!!

Apparently even if you do everything right i.e confirm closure of the account by email, clearing on the unit on the confirmed date (taking the lock with me as advised) you still get a a tonne of stress.

So yeah.. if you don't fancy dealing with all this I would keep well away!

UPDATE: Went in this weekend to finally resolve with the manager & we agreed to paid them till 'they' believe the lock was removed but as that was 5 days after the 15 days notice we owed anyway (which is fine as we knew the rules) we decided to pay it to basically get them off our backs as this wasn't worth the terrible amount of stress they were causing me at this point.

Am I now a happy customer? Not at all as we still payed more than what was rightfully owed even though if their communication was half decent in the first place this wouldn't have happened.. as I would have gone straight back on the 4th to prove to them the lock was not mine..

Yet even though they also couldn't prove the lock was mine (as CCTV records were no longer available that far back(?) & Also couldn't access the information to see when my personal code was last used to access the building (which was the 3rd) apparently we still have to pay for this?

The staff were less than helpful & even though the manager finally resolved it with us (reluctantly) there was little to no apology for the lack of communication received from them.. and still was made to feel like I was the liar and they done me a favour..

Anyway at the point I'm just glad to have their dept collectors off my back and forget this company ever existed.
