I was switched to these guys automatically when my previous online accountancy company closed down. They took over without consulting me at all and switched me to another software platform. They proceeded to get my payroll wrong, they always took days to answer emails, and most of the time I had to remind them to reconcile my accounts. Took plenty of money from me for doing very little. They don't like complaints either. Their MD is child that can't take any form of criticism. Typical millennial company, sadly run by precious millennials who get offended when you complain. Do not waste your money on these "pop up" accountants.

Avoid this company. Doing a simple self assessment is, erm, very simple. Since I was unsure how to do it back then, I paid Simple Tax to do it for me. The tax advisor didn’t consider that although I was in a higher tax bracket (40%) and contribute to a pension plan post tax, I’m entitled to a tax rebate. Since she forgot, I got a heafty tax bill- which, when I finally realised their mistake, took me a lot of time and hard work to get back from HMRC. Don’t pay for this service, they call themselves tax advisors, but they know nothing about tax. I know more by going through this lengthy process.

Avoid like the plague! I dealt with Katie who passed me on to Andy and then Katie again. At this stage alarm bells had started to ring.
This company accepted £272 to complete Tax returns. It transpired that it wasn’t necessary but company accounts needed in 7 months and Simple Tax decided not to refund despite not doing anything in the two weeks information had been provided. It also took HMRC to confirm self assessment wasn’t needed the so called agent seemed daunted by the whole process but were quite happy to charge premium cost for late submissions slapping on a hefty £70 for requesting the returns in the month of January.

I have started the process of reporting Simple Tax to the Financial Ombudsman and have my bank looking into recovering the full amount. Whatever you do have everything in writing as they will deny conversations and improvise as they go along.
They haven’t done any submissions, haven’t refunded my money but are trying to armtwist me into paying for company accounts which are not due till July with the cash they already hold. This has been escalated to a so called manager but this is not a company I’d wish to deal with as holding on to a clients money without any justification confirms these are dodgy people. I’m aware some might have a good experience with them as I was fooled by some of the positive comments but can only go by my experience. They do not care about putting you in financial difficulties and if I wasn’t pursuing getting my money back they will casually keep £272!!
