We enjoyed Alice’s Puppy classes with our pup Popeye. Alice explained the training well and it was a great way to start our obedience training. The size of the class was great too, not too many so Alice had plenty of time for everyone.

I was very impressed with this course, so much better than the course we did with our first dog. Because it was indoors and with only a limited number of dogs it was really well controlled and Alice the trainer got to know all the dogs really well. In the final session it was clear that all the dogs had understood and learned the tricks and obedience expected of them. Thank you Alice!

Will is a lovely guy. As a dog owner there is only so much reading you can do and only so much you can learn from watching videos (of which I did a lot). Eventually something will crop up that you’re simply not prepared for. Will opened my eyes to why some behaviours were happening with my 5 month old German shepherd and since implementing his plan I’ve seen huge change. He’s a lot calmer and more attentive, I plan on joining the group sessions to take things to the next level when my second child is earth side over the coming weeks. Can’t recommend this guy enough! He was recommended to me by a walking buddy and my friends dog is also fantastic after Wills training.

When I met Will I didn’t trust my dog, largely to recall back to me or around other dogs, (and D probably didn’t fully trust me!!). We attended one of Wills group training sessions where he was incredibly positive and encouraging, and helped to strengthen mine and D’s bond no end! D’s general obedience improved by a mile and he was so much more responsive to me.
D is unpredictable in his behaviour towards other dogs and previously I had no control over that unless he was on lead. With our improved obedience and better bond, along with pointers from Will, I tried D off lead in spaces other dogs were using again. I was able to recall him away from other dogs, keep him close by, and when he was approached by another dog I was able to warn him of the dogs presence, and then distract him and carry on with our walk.
We’ve had a 1-1 since and he’s given us some amazing advice on reducing D’s dominant behaviours. We’ve been to trainers in the past who have dismissed this part of his behaviour or not got back to us after an assessment. He’s super supportive, has given me my confidence back and helped me and D be more happy out and about together! Could not recommend Will more!

Bonnie enjoyed the training with Alice, especially her cheese treats, she is kind and very understanding of each dog's personality. Each week she delivers easy to follow training that can be followed up at home. I would highly recommend Alice.

Wills enthusiasm is contagious even on the coldest of days.
As first time owners the classes have been great, not overwhelming but guidance and small tips that are easy to remember and take home and started seeing changes straight away.
Really can't wait to come back for the next course.

Alice (Smartdogs) was recommended to me by a friend who had already taken her puppy to classes. Alice was very friendly and helpful from the onset and during our 4 weeks of puppy training, she was friendly, professional and so incredibly helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in classes with her and our previously untrainable Dachsie reacted really well to her commands! We will definitely be recommending Alice and Smartdogs and will be going back again for more training in the summer. Thank you Alice!

I can’t recommend Will highly enough. He’s given us great advice and practical help with our 12 year old rescue dog Ruby. We were having problems with dominance and reactivity with other dogs and Will understood her behaviour immediately. Ruby now walks well to heal and is a lot less anxious. Thanks Will 😊

I first met Will when attending one of his group classes in York. After spending a fortune on other trainers, I was reluctant to spend yet more money on Joseph, our Bulgarian Street Dog. I joined the group classes hoping to get Joseph to overcome his fear of strangers, and improve his focus on me around distractions. Will was understanding of Joseph's reactivity (nerves) and showed me (read as trained me) what I needed to do to help Joseph. After the block of group sessions, we were so pleased with Will's experience, patience and techniques that we booked some 1-2-1 sessions with him to help us further. Will has set up controlled scenarios which trigger Joseph's anxiety, and shown us how to help Joseph come through them. He totally understands how far to push Joseph to get the best out of him without pushing him over threshold. He even set up a session with his young daughters to help Joseph with his fears of children! His methods involve training the humans too, to build the best relationship with your dog. Since meeting Will, Joseph has come on leaps and bounds, and his small world is slowly opening up. I highly recommend Will - his methods, knowledge and experience are all tailored to your dog's unique struggles.

Alice is ever so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We have just completed her four week training programme with our little bouncy spaniel - Lily - and we have all gained so much. We will always be grateful to Alice for her brilliant training - she’s a natural! Thank you so much! Xxx

We LOVED our training with Alice! Extremely professional, easy to follow training . As a new puppy mummy the commands we have learnt have been super helpful and I can see such a difference in my super sassy sausage pup! Alice is so patient and lovely and we can’t wait to try some new outdoor classes in the spring . 5 stars and highly recommended.

I really enjoyed the training course with Alice, and so did my little dachshund Stan, she was very helpful and we will be practicing everything she taught us.

Will thouroughly assessed our problems and made several recomedations. Will took the time to fully explain how to implement changes allowing time for questions. I am pleased to say his advise has worked and we are happy with the results. Our dog was reasnobly well trained by us from online and books but we were really struggling with the last bit. Will was able to advise us how we can get her to where we wanted to be. We are very pleased with the results and I don't believe we would have got there without professional help. Our dog had no real behavioural problems but was forever challenging us and at times being a bit of a nuisance for lack of a better word. This has now resolved. Big thanks to Will.

We recently completed our first group training with our lab Frank and it’s been a massive difference in only the 4 weeks we’ve spent with him, Will is friendly, funny and a great teacher, he puts everything in a way you can understand, not just the how but the why, which makes the training click! Can highly recommend him as a dog trainer and we’ll be continuing our training with him

Will was super helpful with our stubborn 5 year old beagle. He gave us so many sensible tips and the group session was also very useful. Will was a fun and relaxed teacher and our dog has really benefitted from the training. Would highly recommend him.
