I went to Sam Humphries to have my ears waxed and she found I had underlying hearing issues. I was given a hearing test and found I needed aids. When Sam fitted these my whole world changed. I didn’t realise how bad my hearing loss was. My aids opened up a whole new world. I can even play music into my aids that no one else can hear. I would say to anyone if you need aids see Sam.

After suffering with bad tinnitus after getting Covid last year and doing my own research that it my be related to my ears Sam was amazing and was able to reassure me that even though I’ve not got hearing loss I do have slightly sensitive ears to certain noises and kinding did me a referral for my doctor.

Sam was both helpful, reassurring and professional. Sam explained everything on the first appointment and carried out some initial tests to check for infections/middle ear issues which i am pleased to say, came back clear. This lead to a second appointment to establish if there was an underlying hearing loss issue. Sam carried out multiple tests and again, i am pleased to say that there isn't any cause for concern. Sam followed up the appointment with a thorough report which I received within 24 hours. Fantastic service. Sam is an independent business and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Sam was professional and explained the process clearly to me. Sam was extremely thorough and spent time going through my medical history as well as taking the time to understand my issue. She was very knowledgeable and helpful with supporting me with a referral to ENT and got her report to me very quickly. Sam was welcoming and made me feel at ease throughout my appointment. I would highly recommend to others.

Sam's assessment was really thorough- over the course of an hour we went through history, examination and a number of special hearing tests. She showed me the damage I had done to my ears with years of surfing and diving and then took impressions of my ears which I could send off to Surf Mould Pro to get custom earplugs made. Hopefully this will newbie me to continue to surf without causing further damage. Sam was warm and friendly and I would have no hesitation in recommending her to friends and family. The pricing was very reasonable and a good investment if it protects my hearing for years to come.

I was really grateful to Sam for seeing me so promptly. I felt she really listened to ongoing concerns that GPs have struggled to diagnose and had the perfect balance of empathy and expertise. The assessment was very thorough and the results explained really clearly. I was super grateful for a really quick return of her report to support a speech referral on to ENT. Worth every penny!

Sam is a highly skilled audiologist who has a great deal of experience in her field and is not attached to any 'product'. As an independent she is able to recommend the best hearing aid for each individual. She has effectively helped me deal with a hearing trauma which considerably affected my quality of life. My previous provider was neither helpful nor sufficiently experienced to deal with my difficulty.

Had my Hearing assessment due to tinnitus. Sam was very friendly and knowledgeable. Gave me some excellent advice and how to proceed on with my problem. Personally always find anything medical very stressful, however not with Sam, she makes a relaxed atmosphere. Recommend to anyone with hearing issues.

Sam is obviously very experienced as she was an NHS Audiologist for 20 years. The tests she carried out were extremely comprehensive & thorough. She explained everything to me along the way, so that I was aware of what she was doing & why it was being done. The verbal test was particularly interesting as the sounds simulated a room full of people chatting, & then a voice would speak a sentence which I then had to repeat. She also made me aware of the link between hearing loss & dementia, & the possible isolation & balance issues that can occur as a result of hearing loss. This is not something I had previously been aware of. I felt that I was very well looked after during this appointment.

I recently visit Sam at South West Audiology due to a sudden loss of hearing in one ear. She performed a series of tests on my hearing and throughout the tests she was clear and precise and I felt very at ease throughout the whole appointment. She prepared a report and the outcome of her findings for me to send to my GP in the hope I will get to see a ENT specialist sooner.

I've had two consultations with Sam after my GP diagnosed my "woolly" hearing was due to excess wax. We had a long conversation on the telephone first, during which she clearly explained the micro-suction procedure and outlined the benefits and -unlike some other practitioners - the potential disbenefits. I've had tinnitus most of my adult life and was a very nervous patient on my first visit as I was concerned nothing would exacerbate that problem. Sam was incredibly patient and demonstrated the equipment and the process calmly and clearly. The excess wax is now gone, my hearing is sharper and the volume control on the television is several points lower. You would never describe it as a pleasant experience but I felt very safe in Sam's caring and compassionate hands and will have no reservations about seeing her again.
