I used Spainbuilding through my home insurance to resolve a leaking issue in my home. The company subcontracted parts of the job to different firms, which made the process a bit tiring as I had to coordinate with several teams.
The entire projectâincluding repairing the water leak and replacing the flooringâtook about three months. During this time, I interacted with various staff members and administrators from Spainbuilding.
The reason Iâm writing this review is to highlight the exceptional support I received from one of their administrators, Rosie Davison. Rosie handled my case with great professionalism. She was proactive, responsive, and always kept me informed about the progress. Despite the challenges I was facing, she made the experience far more manageable by following up regularly, coordinating with the different contractors, and clearly communicating every step of the way.
I'm truly grateful for her assistance. Her outstanding performance deserves recognition, and I hope the management at Spainbuilding acknowledges what a valuable team member they have in Rosie.

Complex impact incident
We had the pleasure of meeting Spainbuilding following an unfortunate complex impact incident to our house at the start of the New Year. We cannot thank Nathan and the whole team enough for their high standard of work, professionalism, support and timely completion of works in what was a very stressful time for us. Nothing was ever too much trouble, communication was excellent and we were kept up to date throughout. Nathan always responded to our queries quickly and ensured the whole process ran smoothly from start to finish. I highly recommend this company.

Spain building did a lot of work in our house following a flood. Once there weâre instructed Paul managed the plan of works, communication through out was good, he was clear about what could be done and what wasnât covered which I appreciated. The quality of work done by the joiners, tilers and decorator has been very good quality. All the workmen were courteous and hardworking.,

House fireSeptember 2023
We had a house fire in September 2023. Spain were appointed the prime contractor. There were delays because asbestos was found and now removed. Spain have now effectively rebuilt the house; plumbing, electrics, decorating, plastering, roofing. You name it, Spain have done it. And they have done a brilliant job, despite the many obstacles placed in their way by third parties. All the Spain staff we dealt with were very professional and very able. The house looks like new.

following a house fire which was caused by my neighbours house which is adjacent to my property.
From the offset we have had problem after problem with how our claim has been handled and I feel I have had to manage the majority of the tasks in order to get the renovations started.
Below are some of the eyesores that both myself and my wife have had to deal with during this claim.
  ⊠  Incorrect evaluation given on our belonging that were in the loft.
  ⊠  Our vulnerability not considered - daughter who has epilepsy, wife who was 7 months pregnant at the time and our concerns that the smell of smoke and chemicals having an impact on their health.
  ⊠  Having to find accommodation ourselves which was very stressful and challenging.
  ⊠  Lack of communication from contractors and trinity.
  ⊠  Damages caused to my property and furniture by the first response team and contractors that are now not considered to be repaired.
  ⊠  Like for like repairs not been completed on the exterior of the priority as the next door neighbours. Which now looks like an eyesore.
  ⊠  Security cameras not working since the fire which was highlighted but been brushed under the carpet.
Loft still not completed even after 5 attempts.
These are only a few of the eyesores that we have had to face while dealing with the tragedy of the whole fire etc.
We were planning on selling our home in the near future and this half roof replacement would visibly put off a potential buyer.
We did not choose to be made homeless and have our lives disrupted by the neighbours fire. We would at least want the repairs to be carried out to a good standard that we are happy with.
Having a new born baby recently and living in temporary accommodation has had its challenges.
This company from the start have been shocking, from contractors (Spain) contents claim handler( Sarah) surveyor jerelle, the restoration team have all played there part in causing my family and kids stress. I moved back in my house in November and we are still living out of suit cases. The wardrobes still havenât been fitted correctly and the sliding glass doors have been left leaning on the wall which is a health and safety hazard. You are expecting me to go to ikea for a few screws which you left at the property which should have been taken with the restoration team with the cupboards in the first place. I have made there CEO Claire dales, & tried to get the email for Spain CEO but Nathan the manager from Spain refused to give me this, but Claire was quick to pass the book to other departments rather than take ownership.
If you ever take out insurance pls check who there contractors are even if the policy is cheap I will be sending this to the ombudsman & trading standardâs as I dnt want anyone else to experience what we have
A disaster from start to finish
A disaster from start to finish! Appointed by insurance company. They assessed the claim as damage from soiled waste water but instead of removing the plaster and plasterboard as would be the correct process in this case, they spent a month drying it out leading to numerous unnecessary visits. The work carried out was appalling. The mess left was appalling. I instructed them to leave. The director, some of their employees have no honesty, integrity, professionalism or skill. I now have to go to the ombudsman. Avoid at all costs!

We had a burst pipe in May and it caused damage to the downstairs kitchen and lounge. Spain was appointed by my insurance company LV.
I had dryers installed into the property which i have to say was the most frustrating bit, (but nessasary) by Lee who came every week to check the walls were drying property, Lee was lovely, and very respectful as most of the time I was in work and he was fab!.
We then had plasterers in Nathan and Abdul again lovely, chatty and did the most amazing job, and left my house tidy and clean.
Billy was appointed next, to do the replacement joinery work and it was a pleasure to have him in my home for 5 days. He is a true craftsman of his work, friendly, chatty and a total perfectionist. We had Ian who plastered the ceiling and Lewis and Holly to complete the painting and decorating.
I cannot tell you how thrilled we are of the end result of our home. The work is beautiful, professional and has made a total difference.
Company's get so may bad reviews but I felt I had to review our experience as I wouldn't hesitate to use Spain again.
The lads & Holly worked so hard, never stopped from the start of their shift until the end. The admin staff kept me upto date with courtesy calls weekly and to check I was happy.

Awful communication at all levels with this company. Nothing runs to time. No skip arrives when it's needed. Materials don't arrive when needed due to projects not being managed well. We wrote to the main directors, the Spains,at their Clitheroe address and they didn't even take the time to apologise or write back personally, they just sent a letter blaming the building materials company from another contracts director name in the company we had never heard of or dealt with. My parents in their 70s dealt with so much stress around this insurance job. Not even an apology. Awful service all round.

Utter cowboys
The house I was purchasing had suffered a burst pipe in December last year, and Spain were tasked with making good again. They did dry out the house and repair the leak, and then all work stopped. Despite Spain knowing we had a schedule to meet, they only turned up randomly, sometimes for just a few hours. Despite chasing, still the work was delayed, until we had no choice but to move in June. What a shock. It was like moving into a dirty building site with my family. Nothing worked, no plumbing, electrics left dangerously, the whole building filthy. Where Spain had done work, this was low grade. For example the kitchen worktops were replaced with the cheapest possible, and half ceilings were plastered (instead of the full ceiling)l. If you are unlucky enough to have these builders assigned by your insurance company, then expect delays and poor workmanship. I wouldnât trust them to project manage making a cup of tea.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
Unfortunately I had to claim on my Insurance for a leak under my kitchen floor. The guy from the Insurance Company came to assess the damage in 2 February 2022, he wrote a job sheet of all the work that needed to be done and asked if we wanted them to organise a company to carry out the work or did we want to get our own. We decided to let them organise the company in case we had any comeback on the jobs, big mistake they sent Spain Building and Maintenance Ltd, the Manager Mark came for the initial visit to look at what needed to be done, he explained that there was upto a 12 week wait as due to Covid they had a backlog but we agreed to wait. A few weeks later I received a telephone call to say that the flooring would be done on 13th July and would take 3 days, the decorator would then come on 20th July and again would take 3 days. The flooring guys and the plasterer came, he was supposed to remove my kitchen sink/cupboard and plaster the whole wall behind, he didnât he leaned in the cupboard and did just the wall you could see. Skirting boards had swelled and were also supposed to be removed and replaced, they never were. Day 2 the flooring arrived, the picture on the packaging was not the flooring that I chose, the guys called the office to sort it out, Mark called me and told me it was what I ordered, I rang the flooring company and he explained the pictures on the front are just generic pictures it was the correct flooring. The guys (who,I have to say were great) got sent to another job, flooring delayed. The decorator turned up as planned and painted the swollen skirting board as instructed, he ran out of wallpaper job delayed. A different guy turned up weeks later to do the flooring, he ran out of flooring, job delayed again both jobs were finished in October, so much for 6 days work, more like 9 months. No communication whatsoever from that Mark, not even the work guys could get answers from him. I received a form from the Insurance to say the jobs were finished, on the form Spain had claimed for jobs that they had not done ie. Plastering, replace skirting board. That Mark came to look at the jobs on 28th November, we said we werenât satisfied especially with the cheap plastic trim around the edge of the flooring he said he would get back to us on 30th NovemberâŠ. Weâre still waiting!!!
