Very impressed with Start Solars installation from start to finish. Their sales team took the time to call with me to discuss my requirements and to recommend a couple of different solutions. Their installation team turned up at the appointed time, they went over and above to make sure my cables were well hidden and tidied up after them.
Their customer care team dealt with a frustrating problem I was having with the software side of the installation, liaising with the supplier to resolve the issue.
The installation is very neat and is working well, I have already seen a significant drop in my electric bill despite there not being a lot of sun.
I have no hesitation in recommending this company for your solar needs.

Het is mijn plicht als consument om andere potentiële klanten te waarschuwen voor de buitengewoon gebrekkige dienstverlening van Start Solar. Tijdens de installatie van ons slimme energiesysteem (bestaande uit 16 zonnepanelen, een omvormer, een laadpaal, een thuisbatterij en een EMMA-systeem = slim energie managementsysteem) zijn er meerdere ernstige technische en professionele fouten gemaakt, die voor een gecertificeerde installateur onaanvaardbaar zijn.
Mijn oordeel is gebaseerd op zaken die daadwerkelijk hebben plaatsgevonden, waarbij ik de feiten samenvattend uiteen zal zetten.
Chronologisch overzicht van de geconstateerde gebreken:
1. Foutieve probleemdiagnose – Er zijn herhaaldelijke pogingen gedaan tot in gebruik neming van het systeem wat niet lukte, daarom kwam Start Solar met het idee dat er een "softwareprobleem" bij Huawei aan ten grondslag lag. Dit terwijl de werkelijke oorzaak (hardware matige fouten) duidelijk (door mij) aantoonbaar was.
2. Onjuiste aansluiting van UTP-kabel – Start Solar sloot namelijk een UTP-kabel van de EMMA aan op de verkeerde router, waardoor het systeem vanaf het begin niet functioneel kon zijn. Hiervoor is excuus aangeboden. Feit blijft echter dat ik zelf het probleem moest vinden en oplossen.
3. Kennisgebrek m.b.t. essentiële componenten – De installateur bleek niet op de hoogte van het feit dat een dongel niet in het systeem thuishoorde.
4. Kritieke bekabelingsfout – In plaats van de juiste UTP-kabel van de omvormer aan te sluiten, werd een onjuiste kabel verbonden met de EMMA-module, waardoor het systeem opnieuw niet kon functioneren. Hiervoor is op het laatst pas excuus aangeboden. Feit blijft echter dat ik zelf het probleem moest vinden en oplossen.
5. Foutieve bedrading volgens schema – De PV-kabels werden bovenaan de EMMA aangesloten, terwijl dit een uitgang is en geen ingang, in strijd met het officiële installatieschema.
6. Ontbrekende UTP-verbinding – Start Solar was niet bekend met de (mogelijkheid tot) UTP-verbinding tussen de batterij en de EMMA, zoals wel in het schema vermeld stond.
- Onprofessionele afhandeling en gebrek aan oplossingsgericht handelen
Start Solar heeft geen volledige verantwoordelijkheid genomen voor al deze fouten. Vaak werd getracht de problemen te negeren, de schuld aan anderen toe te wijzen of zelfs mij als klant verantwoordelijk te stellen. Correctie van de geconstateerde fouten en de inwerkingstelling van het systeem zijn hoofdzakelijk door eigen toedoen tot stand gekomen, ondanks herhaalde verzoeken om de dienstverlening te voltooien. Er was onvoldoende bereidheid om te helpen de problemen op te lossen.
- Weigering van service
Zodra het technisch complexer werd dan voorzien, ontbrak naar mijn mening bij de installateur de motivatie om het project correct af te ronden, wat resulteerde in een klantonvriendelijke en zakelijke houding. Mijn systeem heeft daardoor gedurende een periode van vier maanden niet naar behoren gefunctioneerd. Zelfs nadat ik later op eigen initiatief een Huawei-expert had geregeld, eiste de installateur eerst betaling van het resterende bedrag alvorens verdere ondersteuning te verlenen terwijl het volledige bedrag pas betaald hoefde te worden na volledige oplevering. Eind mei heeft de installateur de werkzaamheden zelfs definitief gestaakt, hetgeen in mijn beleving in strijd is met de verstrekte installatiegarantie.
- Juridische stappen genegeerd
Ondanks een ingestelde juridische procedure vanwege de geleden schade ivm herstelwerkzaamheden, negeert Start Solar elke vorm van verantwoording. Ik werd “kleinzerig “ genoemd en ondanks een eerdere kwijtschelding van het bedrag verschuldigd na oplevering (hetgeen dus nooit gebeurd is) wordt nu gedreigd met een incasso als ik het resterende bedrag niet betaal. Verder wil Start Solar niet communiceren.
- Represaillemaatregelen na recensies, intimidatie.
Nadat ik mijn ervaringen deelde via Google en Trustpilot, heeft Start Solar mij toegang tot mijn eigen solar-app ontzegd (!!) en gedreigd het systeem geheel buiten werking te stellen tenzij de recensies werden verwijderd. Dit is een flagrante schending van consumentenrechten en getuigt van intimidatie.
- Conclusie
Gezien de bovenstaande feiten, raad ik iedereen ten sterkste af zaken te doen met Start Solar. Het bedrijf schiet ERNSTIG tekort in vakmanschap, klantenservice en naleving van wettelijke verplichtingen. Mocht u desondanks overwegen hun diensten af te nemen, zorg dan voor uitgebreide documentatie en juridische waarborgen.

Superblij ben ik met de airco! Het installeren was voor de mannen heel erg lastig, dit kwam doordat mijn woning heel dikke betonnen muren heeft. Dit was echt vreselijk maar de mannen gaven niet op en bleven ook nog vriendelijk. Uiteindelijk heeft het een hele dag + geduurd maar het is TOP! Zeker een bedrijf om te onthouden!

They were supposed to bring down extra panel but didn't and left a big gap on the roof. The team blamed office, office blamed team. Office tried to blame imaginary regulations for not finishing the job. This is the Irish branch btw, the system works great but the service is woeful.

Used the Irish company to install 14 panels - over 2 roofs. All done in 5 hours including Zappi car charger and Eddi. System working very well - very happy. We did have a Zappi issue but Start Solar sorted within a couple of days - software needed updating.

Useless company. We paid a sizeable deposit for south facing ground mounted panels plus two battery storage.

They were on the ground with not enough height or elevation to catch the eastern morning sun or the full southern sun. Produced no power. Removed and they attempted to build a metal frame work installing the load bearing posts with “postcrete” even the website states this is not suitable for load bearing. I protested about the cheap quick fix being used and was subjected to abuse by their “fitters”. They were told to get off the land and the English manager came and removed the already installed batteries and electrics.

Despite my complaint that load bearing posts should be encased in concrete he disagreed and they are probably still using this unsafe product designed to quickly hold up wooden fence posts.

God help any customers who will find their ground mounted panels sinking or collapsing in the future.

The communication from start solar was excellent with phonecalls to confirm times and dates. The people who came to install were friendly and professional. Our power wall was installed efficiently and on time.

It is 1.5 years since Start Solar installed my system. This investment was a big decision to make & I wanted to have all knowledge before reviewing.
The quality of the equipment n workmanship is excellent. The staff are most approachable n diligent. In my experience Start Solar is a 5* company, deal with them.

We had enquired about solar panels and looked up information on the Internet but it wasn't until our son told us about Start Solar that we received the knowledge to go ahead with installation. Darren is a very courteous and first class salesman but with no high pressure sales. He simplified the whole process and explained everything. The two roofers and two electricians came on the appointed date and carried out the work with great dexterity. They were very helpful and courteous and finished the job quickly.

We are more than happy with the 4kWp panels installed in late May and our electricity bill is greatly reduced already. The office staff were very efficient and helpful in every respect. We could not recommend Start Solar highly enough from Start to finish!
