Am 15.09.20 schenkten wir unserem Sohn ein Cubase Update auf Vers. 10.5 Pro. Diese Version hat Aussetzer, bleibt zeitweise komplett bis zu 1 Minute stehen und kann scheinbar überhaupt keine Plugins verarbeiten. Katastrophe. Mein Sohn hat daraufhin 3 x das Support-Formular ausfüllt und um Hilfe gebeten. Es kam nicht eine Antwort. Vor einer Woche haben wir dann festgestellt, dass es auf einmal eine 11er Version gibt. Dieses mal habe ich ziemlich empört eine E-Mail direkt an die info geschrieben, es kam eine automatisierte Antwort, aber kein Mensch der sich zurück gemeldet hat. Nun.... wir werden wohl unser Geld zurück verlangen und uns nach einer Software umsehen, die auch das hält, was sie verspricht. Steinberg jedenfalls, ist durchgefallen und nicht zu empfehlen.

So nun habe ich nachdem sich doch endlich jemand gemeldet hat, die Bewertung von einem auf 4 Sterne erhöht. Wir haben tatsächlich ein kostenloses Update auf Vers. Cubase Pro 11.0 bekommen und eine Entschuldigung! Hat lange gedauert, aber dennoch. Nun werden wir sehen, ob die Fehler von der alten Version behoben sind.

Cubase Elements 10 was bought because my Son's school installed this rubbish.

Paid almost £90 because he loves music and wanted the features he currently has with my fantastic Ableton Lite, but infortunately his school chose the wrong product.

IT FAILS TO LICENCE PROPERLY, NEVER WORKS, IT ACTUALLY REFUSES TO OPEN!!!!

I spent £90 , they took my money without any problems and now it won't run because their eLicenser is rubbish and they won't reply to my support emails, it's all stuck in the 80's.

My son needs this for his homework and they can't be bothered to respond back to fix this.

Seems like this is just typical OLD FASHIONED GERMAN PROGRAMMING - JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE IT WORK AND THAT'S ALL - over to the end user with NO SUPPORT.

ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH STABILITY.

DONT BOTHER WITH CUBASE or STEINBERG, GO AND GET SOMETHING MODERN AND UP TO DATE.

I HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH PRO 24 on an Atari in 1984 and had no support with 100's of issues then as well, they havent improved over time.

IT'S NO WONDER THEY ARE LEFT BEHIND AND THERE ARE NOW PLENTY OF OTHER GOOD DAWS TO USE.

EVEN CAKEWALK IS NOW FREE AND HAS LESS ISSUES THAN CUBASE AND THEIR FREE SUPPORT RESPONDS BACK IMMEDIATETLY.

BUY ABLETON INSTEAD

OR GET ABLETON FREE WITH SOME HARDWARE BECAUSE IT ROCKS AND BLOWS THIS CUBASE RUBBISH AWAY.

I HAVE LOST £90 BECAUSE OF STEINBERG AND NOW I AM WRITING SONGS ABOUT IT AND UPLOADING THEM EVERYWHERE TO MAKE PEOPLE AWARE THAT STEINBERG JUST DON'T CARE, NO REPLIES BACK FROM SUPPORT.

Not a single step for the installation works properly. Yes, they need to protect themselves against piracy but honestly the website and the method to activate the whole thing is a joke.

Takes months to respond to help requests, is often unhelpful, and sometimes won't even read the tickets. Their site has been broken for at least three months now, and users are unable to see (or reply to) their own tickets.

Ich benutze Cubase seit ca. 15 Jahren. Bei jedem update erhoffe ich die Behebung der alten Problem. Mit jedem Update kamen neue Probleme. Die letzte Support-Anfrage an Steinberg steht seit 2 Monaten offen. Die Version 10 habe ich glücklicherweise erstmal als Probeversion runtergeladen - um sie dann wieder zu de-installieren. Seitdem macht auch meine alte 8.5er Version Mucken. Meine Empfehlung: tut euch das nicht an! Cubase hat mich ernsthaft wieder überlegen lassen, eine 16-Spur Bandmaschine zu kaufen!--------- Nach vielen Jahren habe ich mich entschlossen, mein System komplett neu aufzusetzen!
Dies war extrem mühsam, risikoreich und nicht wirklich billig (neue HD Platte, SSD-Platte usw.) Ich muss wohl zugeben, dass der größte Teil meiner Cubase Probleme selbst "hergestellt" war.
Von Cubase 8.5 auf Cubase 11 upgegradet habe ich einen unglaublichen Stabilitätssprung gemacht. (musste das komplette System upgraden, inkl. Win OS), hat sich wirklich rentiert. Kann jetzt wieder Musik machen, anstatt mein System zu pflegen. Schön wäre gewesen, 32-bit Plugins doch noch irgendwie integrieren zu können!

Support is very very poor. Your can't even submit a ticket now. They are more interested to come up with new product and sell them.

Terrible. Weeks with no reply.

Support non-existant. Phone support non-existant. Every upgrade for versions is a charge - and the upgrades are essentially bugfixes or introduction of features which other DAWs had decades ago. USB eLicenser as a security measure in 2020 is a whole other topic. Last straw was when they demanded photos of my ID when *purchasing an upgrade to their software from their store*.

Last time I invest my money into Steinberg products for sure.

Purchased Steinberg products for 20 years and just upgraded to nuendo from cubase. Would not install assistant to download and other users report same issue. Sent 3 support requests over the past 7 days and no response to any. Product retails around £800 and can't get basic help as you can't install without having the download assistant working

I just lost 6 hours of work time and counting because your installer automatically installed your e-licenser software, of no use to me, and it keeps crashing Logic Pro.
I will never ever purchase any of your products again, you need to seriously reconsider what you force on people when they only want to buy a hardware product and use it. I’m giving this one more hour and then I’m going to do a clean install and throw your stuff out the window.

Cubase Elements 10 - Appalling software. Installation is astoundingly problematic. The software runs very poorly. Updating the software distributes significant data to undesignated drives. Issues have only gotten worse.

I now use Reaper and have previously used Ableton and Sonar, both of which I would say certainly have the strengths. I would actively encourage you NOT to purchase Cubase. I have just tried to re-load the software because it simply would no longer even start. Their elicencer won't even connect to repair itself. As it is a new install of the latest version of elicencer this really shouldn't be necessary.

If you are considering buying a Steinberg product please research carefully. My experiences are not unique. I'm now in a position were I'm having to write off recorded material I'd hoped to access and re-work. If you don't want to be in this position consider other developers.

Cubasis was the first DAW I ever owned. I had a real affection for Steinberg. I'm surprised and extremely disappointed to be in this position.

Eine Anfrage bei Steinberg wurde erst nach über einem Monat beantwortet. Kulanz bezüglich der negativen Auswirkungen der Verzögerung kennt Steinberg nicht.
Fazit: Ein Kunde weniger!

Ergonomische Katastrophe!!!

Die Funktionalität von Cubase10.5 mag gut sein, aber man hat nichts davon, weil die Oberfläche maximal unintuitiv ist! Ohne Anleitung kommt man nicht weiter. Allerdings ist diese völlig unlesbar und eine einzige Beleidigung! Die Texte geben im wesentlichen wieder, was schon in der Überschrift steht und haben so gut wie keinen informationellen Mehrwert. Features mit exotischen Namen werden nicht erklärt. Die Anleitung ist damit noch wesentlich unbrauchbarer als die katastrophale Oberfläche!

Es ist schon reichlich ungeschickt, eine Software so aufzubauen, dass man ohne Anleitung nicht damit arbeiten kann, aber wenn sich der Hersteller dann auch noch mit Informationen darüber zurückhält, wie sie denn zu verwenden ist, kann man fast nur noch von Betrug sprechen!

Der Support stellte sich auf meine Nachfrage hin erstmal doof, und hat mir letztendlich auch kein Stück weitergeholfen.

Ein Verbrechen, für so etwas Geld zu verlangen!

UPDATE: If you call them the phone tech support is actually great. You have to call to Germany though.

Products are nice (although a bit too buggy), but it is unacceptable to wait for a month for a reply. This is not due to COVID: I had 5 tickets over the last few years with them and it took them a minimum of a month to reply. Absolutely appalling. If you use it professionally you cannot wait even a week to get support. Avid products a much more buggy, but at least they have a proper customer / technical service, STEINBERG have probably one guy in a basement dealing with 7000 emails alone.

I have used Cubase since Cubase 4 and now its at Cubase 10.5, - 10.5 is amazing, at how glitched it is. The fact that they are actually releasing poorly tested DAW since Cubase 8 is downright pathetic, and is the main reason why I am constantly window shopping for other DAW's. Its a shame I have paid for ALL Cubase upgrades up to the latest 10.5 and I can only safely run Cubase 7.

All of the reviews below do Steinberg justice. Have been waiting 2 weeks for my USB elicenser and now it's been returned because my address wasn't accurate (which it was). 0 help from the team who pinball you around with the hope you just give up and I can't use my Cubase Artist as a result.

Honestly I would leave less than one star if I could. Because Steinberg support is simply non-existant.

These guys are there only to take your money, once they have it they will never help you in any way.

I have been a cubase user for 10 years, and I could go on and on about how evil and insolent this company is. Suffice it to say, if you are reading this and considering which DAW is best for you. STAY AWAY FROM CUBASE! And buy Ableton instead.
It pains me to say so because I really like using cubase, but the horrible unspeakable customer (de)service is to much to bear.

Unbelievable in how deep disregard this company holds its customers. I once bought Cubase (cost me nearly £600) that comes with a usb key/dongle. Despite using this thing very rarely it soon developed a crack and gave me read error in about 4 out of 5 tries. I had to fork out for new one that cost much too much for what it was (it should be replaced for free if the company insists on having a dongle). The new one developed a crack very soon after purchasing (it reads fine so far, but I expect it to fail at any time). I contacted the company and received a response after 3 WEEKS!!! - can you believe it! I will never again buy any Steinberg product and it's not about money but their attitude. These people are scum.

Ottimo software, al top e non si discute. Ma supporto agli utenti estremamente carente! Ho comprato Cubase Elements. Prima dell'acquisto avevo fatto una domanda al supporto e ricevuto prontamente risposta. Una volta comprato il prodotto, dopo un paio di mesi ho mandato 2 diverse mail per 2 problemi tecnici, di cui una richiesta di supporto ed una segnalazione bug e non mi hanno nemmeno risposto! E' passato un mese e oltre, quindi c'è poco da sperare. L'unica è sperare nel forum. Un po' poco per un'azienda così importante!
