In just one meeting / lesson Nick has done wonders for my son’s confidence and ability. He is clearly passionate about the subject and truly wants his students to do well. Every lesson is tailored to my son’s needs and Nick’s availability and flexibility have been incredibly helpful. I highly recommend Nick.

I had Nick for my tutoring last year when I was failing my English language, I had a 3 and felt hopeless not knowing where I was going wrong. But he helped me steer in the right direction and showed me techniques, word types and all the work I needed to improve. This review is long over due and I'm so thankful to have the step ahead tuition help me get from barely getting a 3, to a 5. Our son does not enjoy English at all and had real issues with focus. Nick has managed to understand his learning and get him to fully interact with the lessons. It’s a pleasure to hear some of the things our son now comes out with because of these lessons

Nick has been tutoring my son for a few months. He is so positive and calm. Every call he is upbeat and is really helping topics sync in for gcse study. He gently guides my son to better writing and this in turn has helped with other subjects.

Nick is such a lovely, professional and calm tutor. He is fantastic with my daughter who really struggles in the classroom. He takes the time to break things down, provide examples and then encourage her to do the work herself. We get weekly homework with lovely feedback. Nick worked with my son for a few months before his GCSE English resit which he has passed! The aim was to give him a confidence boost and it definitely worked. Nicks approach was professional, calm and friendly, slowly reducing the support he gave until he was able to answer questions completely independently. Feedback and communication with me about the sessions was also good. Would definitely recommend Nick!

Nick has worked with my son for nearly two years. During Covid his schooling had been impacted and he had missed some vital learning. Nick helped him to feel confident and to close many of the gaps and barriers to his learning.
It’s hard to get a child excited about a subject they don’t feel confident in but Nick has been extremely patient and reflective in the way he has shaped and delivered the sessions to support confidence building.

I was one of Nicks students for years and I've always hated English and all the exams and stuff. After working with Nick English didn't seem so bad and my GCSE English papers felt like a breeze for the first time, I think it was Nick that helped me to get a lot better at English. Nick is a great guy and makes English seem kinda fun.

We are from Northern Ireland and I was looking for a tutor to help my daughter who was struggling to understand how to approach her GCSE studies in English Language and English literature. Nick was fantastic from the start he thoroughly researched the NI curriculum and put my daughter at ease, he was flexible and often changed times and dates at our request at short notice. My daughter chose the topics to be taught in line what she was being taught in school. My daughter now has a far better understanding of both subjects and how to approach the exam questions evidenced by fantastic results in summer exams when compared to Christmas exams.
