I recently completed a book taster…
I recently completed a book taster session with StoryTerrace. I was absolutely blown away with what came back from my session. I was in the very early stages of planning my book, but after a 1 hour session I was provided with a clear plan of my book, which included an example piece of writing for what could potentially be the first page. I could not believe how much the writer found out about me in a one hour session. Her gentle questioning and probing enabled her to capture exactly what I want in my book.
If you are thinking of taking part in a book taster session then please do it. It’s worth every penny. 😊

I was hesitant to start with as writing a memoir seemed like a very large commitment. I was interviewed by a writer at StoryTerrace and my opinion changed immediately. I was encouraged to tell my story, but to break it up into smaller, manageable chunks. The writer was brilliant and really helped put my thoughts into words on a page. The sample chapter the writer wrote was fantastic, capturing the mood of my story as well as capturing the atmosphere.
I would recommend StoryTerrace to anyone wanting to write. They have the expertise to help point you in the right direction and the ghost writers are very experienced.

My journey with StoryTerrace
My journey started with a call from a StoryTerrace sales executive Casey, and I was very impressed. She took the time to genuinely listen to my goals, answer my questions, and understand what I wanted from the experience. She walked me through the different packages with complete transparency and recommended the Book Taster as the perfect, low-risk way to test the waters. Her warm and professional approach gave me the immediate confidence to sign up.
The process continued with a relaxed, one-hour chat with professional writer Stefanie Fox who was matched specifically to me. Stefanie was warm, empathetic, and an incredible listener to my story.
Within a couple of days, the team delivered a polished preview document. It included a high-level book outline, a breakdown of the narrative style, and a gorgeous sample page of writing that encapsulated my memories. Would 100% recommend

It’s possible to write that book you’ve always wanted
The process was straightforward and I had good communication with the writers and the team. I felt listened to and the writer was patient with my edits.
It could be overwhelming as it was my first time and was very involving so it could be hard juggling a career as well as managing the books but the writer and team were patient.
I was very happy with the result and I’m very glad I did it.

I was introduced to Story Terrace…
I was introduced to Story Terrace through another hybrid publisher that rejected my manuscript. This sounded a little fishy and I wonder if the original hybrid publisher receives kickbacks from Story Terrace for the referrals. I spoke with Moseley who seemed like a nice guy and very enthusiastic to sign me on. He was professional. After some contemplation, I signed on and sent the $5,500 and signed the contract. Unfortunately, that is where the niceness and professionalism ended. I was to be assigned a project manager within 2 - 3 business days. About 4 to 5 days passed and no word. I emailed Moseley and he was on vacation. I emailed the company and then got a reply from a Christopher who was assigned to be my project manager and only works for ST a few days a week. The fact that I had to track the manager down was a little off putting in my opinion. We set up a meeting the very next day. He sent me a google drive link to prepare for the meeting. I could not get the link to work in time so he was finally just able to send me the document. During the meeting, not only did I find out that he did not have the manuscript, he knew nothing about my book. How can you be a project manager of a project and not know anything about it for the first meeting? We did the work to begin the cover design process as well as to open my accounts. He stated a 30 day turnaround for the cover design. At the two week mark, I emailed Christopher to see if there was an update. Must have been one of the days he had off so I emailed and called the company. Seems like more than just Mosely was on vacation. Christopher then replied the next day and said that it takes about 4-5 weeks and the process can't be rushed because they have a small design team. 30 days or 4-5 weeks? which is it? It's been close to a month since signing my contract and the only thing I have received from Christopher was an AI generated summary and key word document. Clearly he still hasn't read or even skimmed my manuscript. Moseley finally came back from vacation and apologized profusely and told me he would never reassigning the project manager however Christopher did not get the memo because he messaged me fixing his AI generated document. I was introduced to a head honcho through Moseley via email but yeah, he was out of the office too. Seems like internal communication is just as bad as external. This place is a mess.

Very professional from the outset
Very professional from the outset, with clear guidance about how the process will work. They took a lot of care with the onboarding and finding the right writer for my mum’s book and the hours that were spent 1:1 were very productive. The editing and finalising process was a bit laborious but the storyterrace website was helpful. I’d been deterred by my editor from using this as it was not apparently compatible with my Mac but that didn’t turn out to be true so I’d encourage everyone to use it to work through the project. All the family were delighted with the book at the end and we’ve created a lovely legacy for my mum which she’d not expected and was able to direct it during her lifetime.

A Great Experience …
It was the support from the two people I worked with especially my Ghost Writer. There were ups and downs during the process but all came to a great finish with the book and the presentation of the finished article. I would have written more but for the cost of £3 per word for anything outside my contract. A really great experience. Loved it !!!

Not cheap, but a priceless memento
We undertook this project to capture what a fabulous and unique life Mum had in the Navy. Mum wasn’t too sure about it, but we had a great writer, who totally put Mum at ease during the interviews. He did a wonderful job getting Mum’s life on paper and letting her voice shine.
The process is not cheap, but the end result is something that is priceless.
I’m thrilled we’ve been able to document Mum’s exciting and inspiring life. Something generations to come can have as a record.

Wonderful experience
Decided to write my book with references to the diaries I had been keeping for almost 60 years. Anne-Louise understood exactly what my remit was and I wanted to make my memory book light hearted amusing and maybe a bit emotional too. I am very disappointed with Story…
I am very disappointed with Story Terrace. It started out great. My interviewer was great but when it came to actually putting the book together, it seems like everything I said in the interview was how the editor put on paper no correcting no editing. No nothing I expected so much more, I ended up rewriting the book myself, sent the draft over to the editor and she uploaded into Story Terrace so, I wrote my own book. Now asking for another book to be written that there’re expense. If not I will take them to court!
