Good luck if your account gets blocked. Getting in touch with support is unnecessarily difficult, with communication mainly routed through channels like Discord and GitHub and no straightforward support email available.
Even more frustrating, you need to be logged in to open a support ticket. If you're not receiving password reset emails, you're effectively locked out without a clear way to get help.
This setup says a lot about the company's approach to customer support. Account restrictions can happen very quickly, yet billing continues and there is little time or opportunity provided to resolve issues before additional charges occur.

I had a very poor experience with Supabase billing and support. After I questioned an unexplained charge and opened a billing dispute because my earlier inquiries were not properly answered, they removed my payment method, downgraded my organization, paused my projects, and threatened account/project removal instead of helping me migrate. In my opinion, this is a shady and hostile way to treat a paying customer trying to resolve a billing issue and protect their data.

Created a project and generated the APIs. I then spent just over a week preparing the system architecture and development documentation before starting implementation. When I returned to begin coding, the project had already been paused due to inactivity, despite having no database tables, no hosted application, and no production usage.
Many real-world projects spend considerable time in planning, architecture, and documentation before development begins. A 7-day inactivity window feels unnecessarily restrictive for a project that is still in its design phase. This experience made the platform unsuitable for my workflow and ultimately pushed me toward self-hosted VPS infrastructure, where projects remain available regardless of development timelines.
Supabase will shut down projects if you don't monitor it 24/7
Went to set up a system in supabase to serve as a personal CRM and they shut it down because of inactivity. I JUST SET IT UP!

Paid Supabase $25 on May 13 for their Pro plan (cycle May 13 â Jun 12). They suspended my service on May 19, day 6 of the paid 30-day cycle, citing the FREE-tier storage quota that doesn't apply to paid Pro accounts. My usage was 2.03 GB. The Pro plan I paid for has a 100 GB allowance.
Their support response was an automated FAQ telling me to "upgrade to the Pro plan" I had already paid for six days earlier. The one human reply said "escalating to billing" with no timeline and no fix. A formal demand letter to their support, legal, privacy, CEO and CTO addresses, with both invoices attached, got zero response.
They are also still holding ~2,054 of my customer files and an entire production database I cannot access while paid up. Chargeback filed. GDPR Article 15 Subject Access Request sent. Bulgarian KZP and Singapore CASE consumer regulators next.
Do NOT bet a business on a vendor whose published Pro-plan terms and actual conduct toward paid customers are not the same thing. Test how a vendor handles paid mid-cycle disputes BEFORE you depend on them.
Forced into paid subscription

I migrated my latest project's backend over to Supabase this past month, and it is a massive workflow upgrade if you want to avoid proprietary data lock-in. As a self-taught dev, I spent way too much time in tutorial hell trying to figure out complex cloud infrastructure, but this open-source alternative makes so much more sense. The absolute best part is that it's just Postgres under the hood you aren't forced to learn a platform-specific NoSQL query language. Managing tables, setting up authentication, and configuring RLS is incredibly intuitive right through their dashboard. The documentation is top-tier, I had my Next.js frontend connected and fetching data in under twenty minutes without hours of debugging. It has a generous free tier that doesn't feel predatory for developers trying to get a portfolio piece deployed. Highly recommend.

I am an intermediate software developer and a student learning at Uncommon.org and I have got to say out of all the platforms one can use for database and auth. Supabase comes with whole lotta freedom. This I say having used firebase and finding it well intergrated but has not the freedom supabase.

Supabase has been an excellent backend for our production app. The combination of Postgres, auth, storage, realtime and edge functions in one coherent platform is extremely powerful. What I appreciate most is that it still feels like âreal infrastructureâ instead of a black box, you can drop down to SQL whenever you want. The DX is great, the documentation is solid and the platform has been very reliable for us. It allowed our small team to move much faster without giving up control over the data layer.

I wouldnât recommend Supabase and I honestly regret starting my project on that crappy platform. Since their outage a few weeks ago, absolutely nothing works for me. I canât access my project, I canât download the database to migrate elsewhere and their support is useless. Iâve sent a dozen emails and the only response I got was that I should upgrade to the Pro plan if I want faster help. If you donât want to waste money, nerves, and time stay away from this platform!!
