John performed a pre-purchase sea trial and survey on an Oyster 625 in Sept/Oct 2025. His comportment and demeanor during the sea trial and survey was exemplary and his knowledge of marine systems and boats was impressive.
His report was produced on time and was very comprehensive, covering all aspects of in and out of water surveillance with clear observations and recommendations.
John was a key component in identifying a serious vibration issue on an 80ft luxury vessel. The vessel had been plagued by this issue for years and without John's deep knowledge and experience I doubt it would have ever been resolved.
John is very professional and works in a well planned and throughout manner. His reports leave no stone unturned and can be trusted to the highest level.
John from SVG Marine provided exceptional oversight during the final stages of the construction of a Privilege 580 catamaran, from monthly shipyard inspections to the final Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI). His meticulous attention to detail identified and rectified issues early and the vessel was blue water ready. His technical knowledge made him an excellent member of the team when negotiating with the shipyard. Communication was clear and responsive. He will remain our go-to person for any general technical advice in the future. Highly recommended. ★★★★★
Professionalism and Pragmatism.
I had done my research and found a yacht that I wanted to buy. I needed a surveyor that could protect my interests but that would not scupper the purchase for vexatious or trivial reasons.
John is an RYA Yachtmaster Examiner in addition to being a qualified marine surveyor. He approached our survey with due respect to the seller and endeared an open relationship built on mutual trust.
He examined our prospective yacht with the utmost diligence and technical expertise.
The survey was incredibly detailed and was presented in a way that enabled us and the seller to decide amicably what work needed to be done and how it would be funded.
