Buying First System76 Experience

I was able to use the chat option to send questions and got conscientious answers. It was very difficult for me to ask other major brands questions. As someone new to system76 and linux, I think I would have felt more comfortable if I knew there was a clear possibility of Windows 11 compatibility or established procedures for enabling that. I think another thing that would have helped is understanding the consequences of Intel Arc vs. Nvidia or the different processor options.

Outstanding from system76.

Nice integration of pop os with hardware. Prompt delivery.
Clear specs.
Is there any way you could eliminate the need for a password on a computer that is only used by myself? Or make is easier to eliminate spam on a browser?
This is the third computer from system 76 and I have good experience with all. My next will be system 76 again.

refurb Pangolin 14th gen

I purchased a refurbished Pangolin 14th Gen. The touchpad didn't work initially. I found the technical docs for the model, which showed the location of the touchpad connector on the motherboard. I just pushed the connector to make sure it was seated properly in the header, restarted the laptop, and voilá, the touchpad now works. Everything else seems to be working fine, although I haven't yet had a chance to try the webcam.

Speaker Audio DOA out of the box, working with support to resolve.

Update: Issue could not be fixed, returned product. No replacements available. System76 issued a partial refund, charging me for various shipping fees related to the defective product! I asked for a full refund and never heard back. Not a great experience.

Working with the sales team on the order and follow up on the build and ship times was great.

It was a good experience

It was a good experience: laptop, shipment...
unfortunately i forgot about Trump's tariffs... but now it is sorted out.
And we had to find a plug in compatible with the Portuguese socket for the charging cable.

Good Products and Support

I don't think System 76 is for everybody, but if you want a good-quality Linux laptop suitable for an expert with a good ordering experience and good support, they deliver. So make sure that they actually have the thing that you want, but if it _looks_ like what they have is the thing that you want, then it is and you'll probably be satisfied.

I had a very obscure technical question about a very abstruse aspect of the hardware for a laptop model they no longer sell. I doubt I would get anything useful out of most companies with that question. But System 76 support got back to me very quickly with an extremely high-effort & good quality response. It didn't actually solve the problem, but that wasn't really their fault, and it was about as good an attempt as I could reasonably expect under the circumstances.

I have two computers from System76

I have two computers from System76, one (desktop) is nearly a decade old. The other (laptop) is 4-5 years old. They both get used everyday. Had an issue with a firmware update on the laptop. I contacted support to see if I could roll back the firmware as a test. Without question, they emailed me the previous firmware to load to a thumb drive. My suspicion about the firmware proved correct and the problem was resolved. These are quality computers for those not wanting a Windows PC.

A well-deserved thanks

After many months of dealing with a bad repair of a DC in the adapter, I was able to speak with Thomas from System76. He looked over the repair ticket and the communication I had with the previous team member that had unsuccessfully helped me and determined that the repair was still in warranty. I shipped my laptop to System76 for a screen diagnostic, and the DC port issue was fixed as well.

Although my previous experience with System76 was poor, that changed when Thomas took a genuine interest in addressing the issues with my system.

I like to say that I am pleased with how the repair was performed this time, and I would like to extend a well-deserved thanks to Thomas for taking care of business. I now look forward once again to a long-lasting relationship with System76.

Thanks so much, Thomas. Both my spouse and I appreciate your commitment to an excellent service.
