The Oasis Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit avian welfare organization. Established in 1997, The Oasis Sanctuary is a unique avian rescue and life-care facility, dedicated to providing permanent care, shelter, and rehabilitation for companion parrots for which other rehoming options do not exist. In particular, we are a refuge for exotic birds such as parrots, cockatoos, macaws, and other Psittacine birds – although we do accept Passerines (finches and canaries), Columbiformes (doves and “fancy” or racing pigeons) and other captive avian species. Many of the birds in our care have “special needs”, little or no social skills, or have suffered physical and/or emotional abuse resulting in undesirable psychological behaviors. The Oasis is often all that stands between life and death for these beautiful, sentient and endangered companion birds. As a true Sanctuary, The Oasis does not breed, adopt out, sell or trade birds. Once a bird enters the doors of The Oasis, they are guaranteed a lifetime of care and compassion. We assess each individual bird to provide optimum care including a healthy diet, medical care, opportunities for flight and flock socialization in natural aviary environments. Our first priority is, and will remain the long-term care, well-being and safety of the birds entrusted to our care. Parrots are accepted into life care only by prior arrangements. We invite people to tour our Sanctuary which is located 25 miles north of Benson Arizona. Our location is remote by design to afford the best ecological environment for life care of the birds.
