Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. We were a little surprised by the review as our records show order #4067 was placed with us on 2nd September 2025 for a Single Head Flexible Slicker and Finishing Comb, and was shipped successfully.

We emailed you directly last week to understand what had happened — whether the parcel hadn't arrived, was perhaps a gift, or if there had been some confusion with another brand — but haven't heard back yet.

We'd genuinely like to put things right. If you could reply to our email (check your inbox or spam folder for a message from Alastair), we'll happily sort a replacement, refund, or whatever's needed.

Hi Joy, thanks for the feedback and we're sorry you aren't getting on so great with your brush. The pins on all of our brushes are rounded, polished and skin-safe by design — so what you're describing shouldn't be how it feels in normal use.

A couple of things can make any slicker feel uncomfortable to a dog: pressing harder than needed (ours are is designed to glide, minimal pressure needed) or using it on a short or flat-coated dog rather than the long, thick, wavy and curly coats it's built for.

The other thing we often see with Doodles — and it's worth flagging because it's so common — is that dogs who've had uncomfortable grooming experiences in the past (usually with cheaper brushes with sharp, unfinished pins, or with matted coats being worked through too aggressively) can come to anticipate pain the moment any brush appears, and react as if it's hurting even when it isn't. It can take a little time and some positive association (short sessions, treats, stopping before they get fed up) for them to relearn that brushing isn't something to brace against and it can actually be quite enjoyable. That's true of any tool, not just ours.

That said, if there's something genuinely off with your unit, we want to know. Please email us at hello@thedoodlebrush.com with your order number and a quick note on your dog's coat and previous grooming history — we'll either help you work through it or get a replacement out, whichever is needed.

It is great to hear that your Poodles are already tolerating being brushed much better! Often, switching brushes is just the start... it can take a while to see the full benefits. Trust around grooming rebuilds as positive brushing experiences start stacking up.
