I did the Amakhala programme in South…
I did the Amakhala programme in South Africa for 3 weeks and really enjoyed it, however there was a lack of communication when arriving at the reserve about what we would be doing day to day. Once you got into the swing of things this was fine but just a bit confusing at the start. The staff (Justin, Folley and Reeva) were so friendly and welcoming. If you don't like working in the heat/sun this programme is not for you. There's lots of physical work in hot weather and little shade, but if you're looking to work and help with conservation then you'll love it. There's a good variety of jobs and activities, and a paid for excursion on Fridays. I loved my time here but also recognise that it's not for everyone.

J’ai fait 5 semaines de volontariat avec the mighty Roar au Sri Lanka. J’ai eu la chance d’essayer beaucoup de programmes comme le médical, les tortues, les chiens et avec les enfants. C’était une expérience incroyable! Les habitants qui vivent dans le lieu de vie sont d’une gentillesse incroyable! Personnellement, j’ai adoré tous les programmes mais j’ai eu un coup de cœur pour le programme avec les chiens qui se déroulait avec Kavi. Mais bien sur tous les autres responsables comme Tharu, Chamo,… étaient supers. J’espère pouvoir revivre ça un jour et venir revoir tout le monde!

I really enjoyed doing the turtle conservation program. Thuaru was really good at explaining what we needed to do and she gave us a lot of opportunities to get involved. Really nice community and would definitely do it again.

4 weeks with TMR Sri Lanka doing childcare
I spent 4 weeks volunteering with TMR Sir Lanka doing the childcare programme. All of the local team, especially Chamo, were very kind and welcoming. The childcare programme was fun and the kids were lovely. I met some amazing people and really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it.

My experience at the mighty roar was great. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Such as chamo, tharu and charith. I did the turtle program in which tharu was in charge of and she did a great job of giving us activities and support throughout my 2 weeks here. It has been a great experience and would recommend to anyone.

I had the best time in Sri Lanka. The local team made my experience so special. Both Tharu and Chamo were lovely. I could not wish for better people to help me through my time there. They were both very helpful and would help me out whenever I needed. Tharu always made sure to check on me and see how I was doing. My time with tmr would be completely different without her. I will miss you guys lots and thank you for making me feel so welcomed and appreciated.

My experience in Busua, Ghana
I spent one week in Busua, Ghana and I really enjoyed my experience.
Dinah Essel and her team were always really kind and helpful. Also the organization was perfect, both in terms of timing and activities.
I would have loved to stay more time :(

Would 100% recommend
I have just finished 4 weeks in Ghana with TMR and it has honestly been some of the best weeks of my life. Dinah and the team are very welcoming and make you feel at home instantly. This was my first time travelling solo and I couldn’t recommend this programme more. I did the medical volunteering and everyone at the hospital is very friendly and eager to help you learn! The time spent outside of volunteering is full of activities and the staff put in a lot of effort to ensuring you have a good time. Everyone in the community is so lovely and it was an incredible experience.

I have had the best 4 weeks at mighty…
I have had the best 4 weeks at mighty roar Sri Lanka. All staff has been accommodating and welcoming. I did 3 weeks Sea turtle which was such an unreal experience releasing sea turtles and then 1 week Childcare. I am definitely going to do another mighty roar.

I have had the best experience of my…
I have had the best experience of my life here! I did not expect it to be as good as it has been. I have completed two weeks of the turtle program and 2 weeks of the childcare program. Tharu has been so kind and welcoming and has become and true friend here. Chamo has also been amazing. She’s a massive asset to the team and has helped me settle in. I would not have changed this experience for anything, it has been so amazing getting to know everyone and making so many new friends. I would highly recommend this and Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with beautiful people

The dog care was an amazing experience
The dog care was an amazing experience, would highly recommend. The turtle conservation project was also fantastic, but would suggest doing a couple weeks of each course if you get the chance. Tharu, the head of the turtle conservation, was the star of the show. She brings a joyous energy to the programme, is always enthusiastic and happy to help.

Great experience
The actual volunteer programme was amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed scuba diving in Bali and helping rebuild the coral reefs. However, I went on one of the weekend trips which were said to have food provided. The food was not fully provided, we were given a set amount of money and taken to areas where this amount would not be enough, so we had to pay extra out of our own pocket.

Volunteering in Ghana
I have just come back from 8 weeks volunteering on the medical programme in Ghana, and I could not recommend this experience enough.
The local team in Ghana is honestly amazing, as they make you feel at home as soon as you arrive. The accommodation, although basic, has everything you need to be comfortable. During the week, the local staff will prepare food for you at the accommodation, and they try their best to prepare a mix of local and western food, so that there is something for everyone. The local team will also prepare loads of activities for you throughout the week, from dancing classes to wound clinics. This means that you are never bored when you're not out volunteering, and that you get to know the other volunteers and the local team super quickly.
I have nothing but good things to say about the medical volunteering aspect of my trip. As a pre-medical student, I was initially scared that there would not be much for me to do, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were plenty of things for me to get involved in, like taking vital signs, performing ultrasounds and preparing medications. I was even able to see multiple surgeries, including C-sections, which was incredible to witness. All the staff in the hospital are super welcoming, which definitely adds to the experience.
All in all, my two months in Ghana have been some of the best of my entire life. The way that you get to experience the local culture is so incredible, thanks to the local team, whilst you also get to learn so much while being out in the community volunteering. Busua will become your home in no time, and you will not want to leave when that time comes. I could honestly not recommend this experience enough.

My two friends and I spent a week in…
My two friends and I spent a week in Tanzania on the Childcare Programme (in hindsight, a little too short 🙂). Overall, our entire experience was absolutely positive.
Unfortunately, our journey did not start off very well, as our suitcases did not arrive at our destination. As a result, we had hardly any clothes for the first 2–3 days. The whole TMR team supported us tremendously – they gave us T-shirts and contacted the airport on our behalf, for which we are extremely grateful.
Both the volunteers and the entire team were incredibly kind, and we felt very welcome from the start. All our requests were dealt with immediately, such as arranging SIM cards for us (which we were even able to pay for a day later, as we initially did not have the opportunity to exchange money).
The activities were wonderful, even though we unfortunately could not take part in as many as we would have liked due to our clothing situation 😅. One day, we went on a safari, which was completely organised by the team and was an unforgettable experience. The Sip and Paint was also a fantastic and very fun experience.
Our time with the children was particularly meaningful and heart-warming. We were able to see how they live and visit their villages. It was a very interesting experience that we will never forget.
Our room had everything we needed and was cleaned every day.
All in all, we can highly recommend TMR. We will never forget our one-week stay and the wonderful people we met there!

Volunteering one week really Great
I spent one week volunteering at The Mighty Roar, and it was a wonderful and rewarding experience.
The staff were very organized and planned all the trips for us. Whenever we needed anything or had questions, they were quick to help and very friendly. You always felt well taken care of and welcome.
The food was also very tasty, although it could have been a bit more varied. Still, it was always enjoyable.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a cleaning lady coming every day to keep everything tidy.
Overall, it was a fantastic week. You quickly felt at home, and I would definitely recommend this experience to others.

Highly recommend dog programme
My 3 weeks on the Dog Programme was amazing & Kavi made it so special. The connection with the dogs (strays & sanctuary members) was so fulfilling & I was sad to leave them all. The work & care for these dogs is admirable & it’s great to see the difference being made. Would thoroughly recommend!
