I am really glad I found TSoP. I have been taking photos and using Lightroom for years but never had any formal training. I have binged on a few of the courses already - my interest being wildlife photography. I have found them clear, informative and inspirational! They are pitched at the right level and because you can go in and out of them a really valuable resource. I love it!
The Lightroom and Photoshop courses were really good. Having used Lightroom for many years I learnt some new things and I've always been a bit confused by photoshop but I believe now I have a really good understanding. I also like the way in the courses I have completed so far the emphasis is very much on "this is how I do itâ and not "this is the way to do itâ and gives plenty of ideas and alternatives. I loved the wildlife courses and I think I may be inspired to try some different photography courses.

An incredible course and community; I canât sing The School of Photographyâs praises enough.
When I joined, I knew nothing about photography and now, my life is changing as Iâm starting to get paid work as a photographer. Iâve just finished photographing the Rik Mayall Comedy Festival, thanks to The School of Photographyâs teachings I was able to photograph some very famous faces.
Not only is the course content fantastic but the community are so supportive, everyone wants you to succeed.

Since joining I have improved my creative skills immensely, the teaching is set out in such a way that just by following the steps, you cannot help but make progress. It has also deepened my love for this artform and giving me confidence that I'm on the right creative journey. It has a cost effective and easy to access teaching platform, consistent structure to modules, and options to different genres.âŠ
Not sure how you improve on brilliance, thank you all

I have been a subscriber for a couple of years. I have focused on Lightroom and Photoshop and have completed both courses. I am getting better, but I have a long way to go to feel comfortable, particularly with Photoshop. It is nice to be able to quickly go back to the course and find what I want and review the segments. I recently tried to import a signature into Photoshop to use with some images I was having printed. I struggled for a while and started looking at Youtube for help. I went through a number of videos and although they were technically correct they didn't really explain what they were doing and there were enough different so I couldn't make it work. I searched for a School of Photography lesson and found yours. It was great. I was able to follow it though and get a great result. It reminded me why I like your courses so much. Thanks.

I subscribed to The School of Photography for one year in 2024, and I can confidently say itâs an excellent platform. The value for money is outstanding, the subscription cost is very reasonable for the quality you get. The courses are designed for photographers from beginner to intermediate level, with clear explanations and professional production. There's a wide variety of topics to choose from. I'm truly satisfied with the experience and would recommend it to anyone looking to grow their photography skills, but not for experts.

This review is from my personal perspective. I purchased the TSOP Forest Photography course which I feel is a little expensive for an online course.
Jack Lodge, the presenter, is a good educator but I felt that I did not particularly learn anything I did not know - except for the last chapter on getting your images 'out there', which is not something I have done since before the advent of digital (and social media). This was my main disappointment and the images captured were not particularly to my taste, although the methodology was well explained.
If you have any experience at all in woodland photography I feel that you would be better served, and quite a few pounds better off, by searching out some of the YouTube presenters specialising in the subject.
I would like to reiterate that this was MY experience of the course and I feel that less experienced photographers may get a good deal of knowledge from this course.

Iâm still so thankful for the excellent PS-course, I took. I always recommend it to others, who want to learn PS.
I left TSOP about 4 years ago. In spite of my relatively short time with you, I still think that my TSOP year was a very important step for my development as a photographer.
So, Thank you ever so much for your great platform and convincingly well structured PS course.

Hello. I am no spring chicken (I will be 66 this year). A quick story about my photography journey. I purchased my first SLR while I was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford in England. It was an aperture priority Nikon EM camera with a few lenses. I never did any darkroom processing and all of my photography knowledge was through trial and error and studying the owner's manual. I enjoyed that camera (I still have it) but years later I made the transition to the digital world. I started processing photos with Photoshop (CS4) and later I started using Lightroom as well. I have never had much formal training in either PS or LR. I bought a book for each and have acquired some knowledge but I always knew I wasn't using either program to the fullest potential. As I am approaching retirement I want to enjoy my photography even more so I decided to do some more training. I was on the fence between Kelby One and The School of Photography. I opted for The School of Photography. I am very pleased with my decision. I purchased the yearly membership option and I plan on going through several of the course offerings. Even though I have been involved with photography, as a hobby, for nearly 40 years now, I went ahead and went through the beginners course. I am now maybe 75% through the LR course and I am learning so much. Marc Newton is doing a great job with his instruction. I enjoy his delivery and his pace. I am looking forward to going through several more courses this year. I really like the current format and again, I am very pleased with my purchase. Keep up the good work!!

I found the School of Photography and excellent resource for learning and developing skills in photography. I'm new to photography and have tried one to one and YouTube to learn how to use my camera and how to take quality photos. Following the School of Photography online course is far better. Marc is good at explaining what I need to know and I can go back over any parts that I need to review. I would certainly recommend the course to others.

I think that TSOP has developed a really great format for the training. From having options for which classes to take, as some are obviously of more interest than others, to the way the class itself is constructed with educational videos interspersed with information sheets.
Particularly enjoyed Marcâs classes. Very engaging and his educational background comes through.
For me the best parts are choice of classes and the teachers and the ability to dip your toe in and see if you like it. e.g. fine art editing and street photography. Never had an interest before but watching both inspired me to try.
Would highly recommend TSOP, whether youâre just starting out with photography or youâre, like myself, a little more âseasonedâ itâs well worth it.

The School of Photography ããã®åç
Highly recommended. Over the years I have studied independently and on line, and so, I understand the pitfalls of grasping a subject without a direct tutor or class mates involvement. The way that TSOP present their information has been extremely satisfying, mentoring the student to a better understanding of the subject.
After completing my fourth course on TSOP I can highly recommend. Learn at your own pace, rewind, pause or simply start again. If you forget something simply dip back into the course and do it again. A well paced easy to understand and put into practice course.
Iâve just signed up to a second years membership and I am really enjoying my journey. Learning is fun especially when Marc teaches the way he doesâ€ïžâ€ïž brilliant and if u sign up you will not be disappointed I trust you.

I just wanted to say how pleased I am to have made the decision to become a member. I was looking for a photoshop course, and having done a course from Jack Lodge via TSOP I thought this would be a good place to learn. I decided as I was stuck on the sofa with my leg in a moon boot to refresh at first via the beginner course. I'm so glad I did, I learned things in a different way, and new things, Many things I knew already, but it was a lovely way to spend time being in the photographic world, without being able to get up and at it.

Dear Marc
I am great believer in giving credit where credit is due and hope the following is of interest and use to you and your team.
I am 66 and have been taking photos ever since I picked up my dadâs Yashica rangefinder during a holiday in Austria when I was 7 years old. Since then I have been interested in photography but have never formalised my knowledge. Everything I know about photography has come to me either by being taught by my late father or my own experimentation. I still recall Dad talking about perspective, focal length and distance from subject.
I joined up well over a year ago but moving house, 2 family deaths and a bout of illness resulted in my only starting your introduction course last week. The point I want to make is that despite already knowing most (not all) of the course contents in no way did that detract from my enjoyment. I am one of those people who finds recapping things utterly boring. Definitely not so with your course. I am so bad that I was never even able to read over my answers in exams. I answered and then left the exam hall. I used to aim for train times, not exam duration.
As someone with a reasonable amount of knowledge I found your introductory course to be extremely valuable. You are very clearly an outstanding communicator and extremely easy to listen to even when dealing with topics I already understand. Trust me â that is the highest recommendation I could ever give.
I have started the course on street photography and am looking forward to other courses. Joining TSoP is one of my better decisions!
Many thanks,

I want to thank to Mark Newton and all amazing teachers involved in this program. I really really enjoyed it and I got lot of inspiration from some teachers. My best teacher Mark Newton!. I loved the story and video from Sujata, I got so motivated with the energy of Andy Rouse. Thank you and my best for you. Gloria Tibavisco

Iâm very pleased with the Beginnerâs course Iâve almost completed. Itâs taught carefully and systematically so as to build proper foundations and foster real understanding of the photographic process. It has answered questions Iâd felt a bit lost about after watching random YouTube videos, and Iâve begun to feel confident with the use of my camera. Iâm glad I purchased a yearly membership, and I look forward to continuing through more courses. The ongoing contests, with critiques along the way, are a fun way to keep members engaged and growing. Great program!
After undertaking the wildlife course with TSOP I had a whole new outlook at approaching taking wildlife images and focused on getting the image I wanted even if conditions werenât the most favourable but also using settings you wouldnât usually dream of and âgiving it a go!â And in this instance in paid off and Iâm so happy.

TSOP has been one of the best things i have done. I know i am going to learn the skills that will help me in this. I will say that anyone that is serious about photography must join TSOP to be given the skills to help you on your way.
