I had been studying and practicing each of the four sections on different days separately, but on my last day before the exam, I decided to only take full mock tests. The last one I took before the real TOEFL exam was one of their available free tests. It was exceptionally accurate to the real experience. The website had stated that I would get my performance evaluated and scored within two hours, which was already surprisingly fast to me, and in about an hour after I finished practice, I was even more pleasantly surprised with the detailed email response I received from Anil Kumar, one of their experts. I didn't only receive a score number, but a full breakdown of what I had been doing right and what areas I needed to focus more on. To be clear, this is not to dismiss those services — they work well for certain types of learners — but for self-studying students with a solid English foundation like me, they had clear gaps: their question banks are mostly limited to old TPO sets and official sample questions, with no fresh simulated full exams; they do not offer line-by-line feedback for writing and speaking sections, which makes self-directed improvement really difficult; and their subscription models are locked into monthly or annual plans at not-so-competitive prices, plus their sales teams reach out very frequently pushing thousands-of-yuan paid courses that hold little appeal for independent self-studiers.
